Today’s Moonbattery Report Another dangerous weapon has been confiscated by airport security. G.I. Common Sense Voter ID Law Sends Libs Reeling

Some common sense from the Supreme Court
2008-04-29 01:50:00
The Supreme Court ruled today that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights, validating Republican-inspired voter ID laws. In a splintered 6-3 ruling, the court upheld Indiana’s strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Its backers ...
Why Price, Volume and Common Sense Matter Now
2008-04-25 18:02:00
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. Guest Post:Deepak Singh Market Analyst, State of the Market "How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four! Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."....Abraham Lincoln We see and hear this too often in markets. There are millions of technical indicators that have been developed to call a tail a leg. I am not painting all technical indicators with the same brush but most of them are no good. It only leads to poor trading experience and results. After going through number of indicators, I reached a conclusion - it is much better to stick to Price, Volume and Common Sense (the most difficult indicator). There is saying - "Price and Volume are fact, and everything else is a distorted version of the two". The market requires you to be much more objective most of the times even if that means a long wait. It pays to wait for clear signals than interpret confusing signals. The moment we start looking at te...
Getting BackLinks to your Blog/Site, The Un-Common Sense..
2008-04-23 11:20:00
Today I was talking to someone who said, ?I spent 14 hours yesterday submitting my website address to directories and search engines??And I thought, ?well, that?s one way to get links.?But if you?re going to spend THAT much time, why not think outside the box?For Example:You could make Wordpress or Blogger templates and give them away free as long as they leave your link intact.Or, if you?ve got a few articles, pull together a quick AdSense site with them plus a few other articles, give it away or sell it really cheap (try the Warrior Special Offer forum for a ready-made market) with your links embedded. I would personally give it away free, with the only stipulation being that if they wanted to be notified of the next free Adsense site I gave away, they?d have to send me the URL where they posted this one.Lets see, what else do people want? how about a free script or two for their website as long as your link remains.Or, a cool widget that can do something they might like? like mak...

Common sense
2008-04-22 23:57:00
This week's Mr. Teacher column on education.com is all about the trials and tribulations of getting kids to check the reasoning on their math answers. No, 11-5 should NOT equal 14! Nor should it equal 115!!!I started a Participation Posse today. Took pics of the kids last week, and I devoted a bulletin board to the pictures of the kids who participated in class. Most of them got their pictures up yesterday. Of the few who weren't up when they walked into my classroom this morning, almost all of them really did try harder today and got their picture up. I did have to take one down though, as he wasn't trying at all today. We'll see how it goes for the next few weeks. I think I'll have little rewards or something for the people whose pictures stay up all week long. If it goes well, I may start this at the beginning of next year. Common Sense with Car Insurance
2008-04-04 03:56:00
We've all heard the horror stories of people trying to claim on their motor insurance, only to have their claim refused due to a technicality, or some detail that has been forgotten. The higher your claim, the harder the insurer will work to find some reason not to pay out. Some of the steps you can take to avoid this issue are just a matter of diligence and common sense.Always wear your seatbelt. If you are injured in an accident and it's found out that you weren't belted up, the insurer will throw out your claim straight away. You can also incur heavy fines if you are caught without your belt. Likewise if you are found to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. As well as the legal ramifications, drink driving renders your insurance claim invalid as you could be seen to have caused the accident. The same goes for speeding and other types of dangerous driving. All will make you more of a liability on the road, and more likely to be in an ac...

Confusion reigns supreme when one talks about reverse mortgages. So much has been written about this program that myth melds into fact and fact conflates myth. Plan to block porn sites based on common sense, minister
2008-04-01 03:39:00
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government`s plan to block porn and violence websites is based on common sense, Communications and Information Minister Mohammad Nuh said."Nobody has reason to build a nation by disseminating pornography and violence. I think nobody will agree to such notion," he said in a press conference here on Tuesday. The press conference was called shortly after the House of Representatives (DPR) passed an information and electronic transaction bill into law earlier in the day.Under the law, anybody found guilty of providing and using pornographic sites may face a maximum of three years in prison or a fine of up to Rp1 billion. 15 Common Sense Rules
2008-03-30 05:19:00
Common sense can be brutally honest sometimes. As traders we get so focused on the little inconsequential details sometimes that we miss the world around us. I have had this discussion with too many people over the last two months that told me they were bearish on the market and were taking a beating on the "high probability" that the market would reverse. Who sets those odds by the way? Are trends more likely to reverse than persist? If so, why the hell are we studying technical analysis?Take a look over these trading rules I stumbled across last year and see if there are any realities that surface from them. Each time I look these over it reminds me of the realities of what we do here.1. No matter what you read about trading, until you use an approach and test it with your money on the line you will never learn how to trade. Paper Trading is NOT Trading!2. If it were really possible to "Buy Low Sell High" or "Cut your Losses and Let your Winners Run",...

Facebook Hysteria - Use Your Common Sense!
2008-03-17 16:32:00
Facebook hysteria is hitting new heights. The media is abuzz with Facebook horror stories, sensationalized stories of how Facebook can threaten our very existence. Perhaps its the cynic in me but frankly this is just the next example in a long line of innovations that have been seen as threats by the mainstream. Even the phone was described as a tool of the devil when it was first introduced. Why this hysteria ? Because, like all new ways of doing things it challenges what people perceive as the norm. Its a new way of doing things and in good human nature fashion we see it as a threat because its something new that we don’t yet understand. Get with the programme peeps! Rather than viewing Facebook as something to be afeared of check it out yourself - go online and see what its all about. You have a choice, no one is forcing you to have a Facebook profile or interact with people in that forum but before you go spouting off about what a threat it is to society understand what ...

Americans' Common Sense Linked to Gas Prices
2008-03-08 02:37:00
Summary: "Who can remember all the way back to last summer when we had the day-time economy, baseball and $ 3 price of a gallon gasoline? Buyers non-US car apparently, and you can see clearly in the results of the automobile sales. " October; The big trucks and SUVs sales led by domestic manufacturers last month, as consumers could not seem to see beyond the incentives and gas prices lower. Heads firmly buried in the sands of oil, they stubbornly forgotten the ice caps melt and the finite nature of petroleum's. The bright spot in this story is all persons who have purchased any vehicle at all in October, not to mention the thousands who have chosen models more fuel-efficient. Unfortunately, they are paved with the same brush as these ugly Americans whose concern for the rest of the world (and indeed, their own future) takes a back seat to the instant satisfaction.

When common sense isn't common
2008-02-21 20:16:00
Last week you all got a chance to see the 1958 Marlboro commercial here, and elsewhere, that depicted a Native American in a manner typically described as racist, and it probably was. I'm not a Native American history buff or even knowledgeable on the history of the apparent controversy over these apparently controversial images. The fact is that I am not a Native American so I really don't know one way or the other how much images of the Washington Redskins or the Cleveland Indians really affects people of that persuasion. The thrust of this article, which is noteworthy because it is a typical of anti-Redskins logo articles, is that organizations and schools shouldn't be conflicted over the issue, because there isn't anything really conflicting to decide. Images of Native Americans by sports teams (in this instance, the author is commenting on a High School with a Native American mascot; for reasons not clearly stated, "Warriors" is the offensive school name in question) is of...

Timeless Common Sense Advice on Performance

Today is Wednesday, so this post is on outstanding performance. The other day, I bought Jeffrey Gitomer’s Little Platinum Book of Cha-Ching!  Like all of his books --  The Little Red book of Selling, The Little Black Book of Connections, The Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude and The Little Green Book of Getting Your Way -- the Cha-Ching book is filled with great, easy to apply common sense advice. While I am The Common Sense Guy, Mr. Gitomer makes a great common sense observation on the very first page of the book: “If you want to learn something new, all you have to do is study something that was written 100 years ago.”  In other words, common sense is timeless.  You will have to adapt 100 year old common sense wisdom to today’s business climate, but you’ll be surprised by how well so many common sense ideas have stood the test of time.Cha-Ching is based on the wisdom of John Patterson, the man who bought the patent for the cash regis...
Eulogy for Common Sense
2008-02-08 20:17:00
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, why life isn't always fair, and how, on occasion, maybe it was my fault.Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned, but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the j...
