When Did Calbuzz Become Jerry Brown's Personal Communications Shop?
2010-09-11 18:00:00
-By Warner Todd Huston The widely read California website Calbuzz bills itself as a site offering political news, analysis, commentary, "and more about California and beyond." During this election cycle, though, the "and more" seems to indicate that Calbuzz is operating as the publicity shop for Democrat Jerry Brown's campaign for Governor because so far they've spent little time offering straight news about the race. Instead the site is constantly offering flattering Brown stories while just as constantly savaging Meg Whitman's Republican campaign for that office. Calbuzz gets a lot of respect from California's Old Media and political establishment and that should come as no surprise. It isn't necessarily because it is such a hard-nosed news service but because the...

Tata Communications Ties-up With Tomizone – Will It Usher A Wi-Fi Rev
2010-01-15 11:01:00
Telecom market has seen a flurry of competitive tactics being played out by telcos to derive the maximum value out of their subscriber base. The recent tie-up announced by Tata Communications with Tomizone to increase its Wi-Fi presence in country is a step in the same direction. Tomizone is a renowned international player in servicing Wi-Fi hotspot and metro Wi-Fi zones. The tie-up with Tomizone will help Tata Communications to increase its no. of  Wi-Fi hotspots in the country. India currently has just few thousands Wi-Fi hotspots and the Wi-Fi revolution is buried under the pricing structure adopted by Indian Telecom players. The tie-up looks further interesting in details as it will allow all Tata Indicom broadband subscribers to convert their internet into Wi-Fi hotspots and earn service credits from it. Currently Tata Communications charges subscribers using its Wi-Fi hotspots on the basis of per minutes of usages. The charges varies from Rs.1-5 per min depending on location ...

Sathya Sai Baba Student Communications On Sex Abuse

Q2 Results Roundup: Tata Communications, Mindtree
2009-10-27 09:31:00
Tata Communications has registered a 30 per cent decline in standalone revenues at Rs. 759 crores compared to Rs.992 crores in the same quarter last year. The bottom line also took a serious hit and came in lower by 68 per cent at Rs 10.45 Crs against Rs 33 Crs. The major reason for decline in revenues was lesser demand for wholesale voice services in telecommunication services segment which contributed only Rs 300 crore in this quarter compared to Rs 461 Crores contribution in corresponding quarter. The enterprise and corporate data segment contributed Rs. 300 Crores to the revenues whereas other services contributed Rs. 159 Crores. Tata Communications was formed by merger of VSNL, its international subsidiaries. They seem to be focusing on servicing enterprise clients. The main cause of worry for TATACOM  is the entry of telcos in the enterprise segment to derive higher margins and volume. Mindtree Q2 results: MindTree has reported 34 per cent growth in the botto...

An Open Letter to the Communications Pros with the Caps

To: Nate Ewell     Paul Rovak     Kelly Murray    - Mike Vogel     Brett Leonhardt     CC: Kurt KehlMonday brought me back to the real world of laboring for the Man, instead of reporting to Kettler again for more of my favorite vacation: Capitals' training camp. Like the late Jack Falla, I don't believe there's such a thing as a bad day at the rink, and last week, being welcomed and so helpfully assisted by you as I was, well reminded me of why this was so.  This was easily the largest Capitals' training camp in its number of skaters that I'd ever covered, and you have 70 quality human being hockey players who wore your crest last week. I talked to almost every one of them. In the middle of my vacation at the rink I thought about those middle-aged men who fork over vast sums of money to participate in pro sports fantasy camps, for limited access to their ballfield heroes. Last week at ...
