This morning was a fine time for a Motorcycle Commute. 70 degrees f. with high thin clouds and extraordinarily bright sunshine made for a great ride to Tampa. I see this guy on his Ural Side-Hack about once every three months during the morning commute. He turns South on Gunn Highway off SR54.     There were loads of bikes on the road today and traffic moved very well throughout the commute. In Tampa on the surface streets and it's not too crowded at all for this time of the morning. Have a Great Day everyone, and Ride it like you stole it! Metro Commuting
2008-06-10 08:10:00
It was been a rough few weeks for those of us who rely on Metro?s orange line to go to and from work. Last Wednesday, thunderstorms brought down a power line on the tracks between the East Falls Church and West Falls Church stations causing major delays as service was suspended. Even before I left the office, I received e-mail updates from Metro informing me of the outage and the notice that shuttle buses would be available at East Falls Church to take folks to the remaining three stops. Despite the many announcements we received from the train operator prior to arriving at East Falls Church, the station was a mess. There was no one to guide people to the buses or to give announcements with updates. Although I stood outside the station for over an hour, I didn?t move far enough to even see a bus. By then Metro service was restored, and I took my normal route home. The usual 50-60 minute commute took almost 2.5 hours! What I learned from last week?s experience is that we are ...

This mornings Motorcycle Commute to Tampa was in a delightful 73 degrees f. with some thin high clouds to the east.   The Sunrise through the ground fog was spectacular.   Traffic was somewhat lite on surface streets, that is until you reach the Suncoast Parkway where the On Ramp Toll Booth is funneled down to one lane. Traffic on the toll roads moved well and there was no FHP cruisers patrolling this morning.   There were lots of motorcycles out & about this morning. Traffic was rather hectic on the toll roads so I didn't take any photos of the Suncoast/Veterans Expressway. Commuting in the Yukon- Can Ya Bear It?
2008-06-07 16:10:00
This photo is from Sleddog Stacie’s blog yesterday. While this is a brown-phase black bear, there have also been grizzlies seen regularly the past 3 weeks in the Dry Creek area between Spirit Lake and Carcross. Sure beats bumper-to-bumper freeway traffic, eh?

Thursday's Motorcycle Commute back to the Casa was almost in triple digits f. At 99 degrees on the Suncoast Parkway and at 80 MPH! The Air Temp Sensor is under the beak of the GS in the shade and in the air stream. In the Garage at the office the temp read 93 f. and climbed as I got farther North heading out of Tampa. This mornings motorcycle commute was in 74 degrees f. with no clouds and sunshine so bright it was hard to see, even with polarized sun glasses and the integrated sun visor of the helmet.   There was just nothing in the air to the east to diffuse the light so it was blindingly bright. Traffic was heavy on the surface streets and a visible FHP & Pasco County SD presence on the Toll Roads kept the pace to around 60 mph. Well, it's Friday in FlatLand and Hey!  It's Florida Outside! The morning Motorcycle Commute to the office in Tampa was a nice ride on a Thursday morning. There were a lot of LEO's out & about this morning keeping the pace down to a somewhat slower than normal clip. 74 degrees f. with low humidity and no clouds were the conditions this morning. The Toll Road Authority is doing maintenance on the toll plazas where you get on/off the toll roads and had the traffic funneling down to a single lane which caused a considerable backup on SR54.   Once on the Toll Roads a reasonable pace was maintained and enjoyed. XP Inflatable Cars, the future of clown commuting

This mornings Motorcycle Commute was a great ride in 72 degrees f. with high thin clouds and relatively low humidity. The Time Stamp on these images is 12 hours off.  :-( This Pasco SD Cruiser kept the pace on SR54 to a bunched-up parade.       The FHP Cruiser ahead of the truck also kept the pace slower than normal.       There were several motorcycles on the road this morning and we're seeing more & more scooters putting along as well. This shot is deceptive as the traffic built up rapidly on the Toll Roads just a mile down the road. It's a fine FlatLand Tuesday morning,  have a great day everyone. This Mornings Motorcycle Commute to Tampa was is a fabulous 72 degrees f. with moderate humidity and thin hazy clouds. The fog was still burning off as I commuted on the R1200GS Adventure this morning. Traffic moved well on the surface streets as well as on the Toll Roads.   The bright sunshine is a warm welcome to this fine FlatLand early summer day.   The signs say "Traffic Pacing" starting today; so I guess there will be stepped up enforcement on the Toll Roads although I saw no LEO's on the Road this morning. This fine Friday Morning in FlatLand was a great time for the Motorcycle Commute to Tampa. 72 degrees f. with no wind or clouds, just glorious sunshine to be enjoyed. Traffic was a little heavier than normal on the Surface Streets for a Friday Morning.   The normal morning feeding of the LEOs by those who don't use Radar Detector/Locators such as the Valentine 1 which has paid for itself repeatedly, time & time again. Traffic move very well on the Toll Roads considering the active FHP presence. Well, this is my exit. Have a great weekend everyone and Ride It Like You Stole It! A beautiful morning best describes the conditions for the Motorcycle Commute to Tampa. 70 degrees f. with no wind or clouds; just glorious sunshine, with a little traffic to mix it up a bit.     There were some LEO's pacing traffic on SR54 and that kept the commute to a slower pace than normal, but not bad at all.   There were several other bikes on the road this morning along with a liberal amount of distracted drivers dick-knobbing around with their cell phones while pretending to actually drive their cages.   Traffic on the Toll Roads was light in Pasco County and built steadily all the way to my exit in Tampa.     What a great morning for a Motorcycle Ride here in FlatLand.     A Hillsborough County SD Cruiser feeding on a cager.       Well, this is my exit. This morning's commute started out in a balmy 77 degrees f. and within 2wo miles of the Casa, the heavens opened up and dumped some very heavy rain on FlatLand. It has not rained here in well over a month so the roads were immediately slick & greasy from the initial floating of the rain. I have new tires inbound to the Casa for today or tomorrow and the rear tire on the GS is basically a slick, so I turned around and headed back to the Casa and procured the demon truck for today's commute.   This is the first time this year that I have driven the truck to work. This Mornings Motorcycle Commute to Tampa was a fine ride in 59 degrees f. with heavy overcast sky's and winds out of the North from the approaching cold front.       The sunlight shafts promise a brighter day as old Sol rises above our cloud cover.   Traffic moved very well on both the surface streets as well as the toll roads and I didn't pass a single LEO on the prowl this morning.   This will be the only day this week that I will be commuting to work as I leave for Western North Carolina in the morning for our Spring Training Camp for Riders. You just got to love living in Florida. This Sandhill Crane was standing guard at the doors to my office this morning. This crane is about four feet tall (122cm) LATER Technorati Tags: RilySi,Ride it like you stole it,Motorcycle Riding,Motorcycle Commuting,FlatLand,Florida

What a beautiful FlatLand Morning for the Motorcycle Commute to Tampa. 68 degrees f. and no wind or clouds made for a gorgeous ride this morning. In the shot to the right, the Gulf of Mexico is on the Left in a giant mangrove stand. Traffic was light for a Friday morning and moved well making it easy for me to stay between the cager clusters. I didn't see a single LEO along the route this morning. There were several other Motorcycles on the road during my commute. FlatLand Spring Mornings don't get much better than this! It's Friday in FlatLand and Hey, It's Florida Outside! Have a great weekend everyone and Ride it like you stole it. This morning greeted me with 68 degrees f. and bright sunshine as I rolled out of the Casa for the Motorcycle Commute to Tampa. Right on the coast it was clear blue sky's but just a couple of miles inland there was a hazy lite fog rising. Traffic was heavy on both the surface streets as well as on the Toll Roads where it was painfully crawling along here & there for no apparent reason.     The two FHP Cruisers that tend patrol the Suncoast Parkway / Veterans Expressway like to sit here in the mornings. It's just over the crest of a hill when heading Southbound so by the time you see them, they have you locked. I guess it's just the Thursday Crazies that make the cagers drive like idiots all bunched up on the Toll Roads. Oh Well, It's a beautiful FlatLand Spring Morning and hey, it's Florida outside! I had a fine ride this morning during the Motorcycle Commute to Tampa. 66 degrees f. with steady wind out of the East and overcast sky's made the ride easy on the eyes. Traffic moved well along the commute on both surface streets and Toll Roads. I always work my way to the head of the pack and then attempt to stay between packs of cagers so that basically I'm riding alone. The Cagers that just have to ride side by side, and three abreast just drive me nutz. These Idiot Formations tend to make everybody, other cagers included, impatient and frustrated so that they begin to swap lanes at the slightest sign that one of the Idiots is gaining ground on the other two. This dude on a VTX was the only motorcycle heading the same direction as I this morning.   I used to own a VTX.  It had plenty of low end torque but was just not comfortable for my style of riding. Hey, It's Florida Outsid...
