Screw Computer Graphics: Watchmen World Gets Built for Real [Watchmen]
2008-04-06 16:00:00 newVideoPlayer("watchmen_gizmod-o.flv", 494, 297,""); Just when we thought we were going to get a sensory overload thanks to Tony, Bruce, Hulk, and Indy, here comes Watchmen to kick our eyeballs again. Like JJ Abrams' Star Trek, director Zack Snyder is actually building massive sets instead of depending entirely on 3D graphics and green screens. And I can't be more grateful for that decision. I don't know about you, but the idea of having these strange (anti)heroes walking around a "real" 1985's New York, Ozymandias's massive Karnak, Mason's garage, Dr. Manhattan's nuclear lab, the Comedian's tacky bachelor's pad, and the Rorschach jail—all full of the retro gadgets, technology and the dirt of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' comicbook masterpiece— has me excited. If the movie is as good as his take on Frank Miller's 300, Snyder's Watchmen is going to be one for the books. [Watchmen via Superherohype]

Computer Graphics - What can be Done One Layer at a Time
2007-11-15 13:51:00 This gif animation highlight the abilities of artists now-a-days. A layer by layer animation of how a girl can be drawn is quite revealing. Frankly I do not have such ability, and do not forsee having such ability, but its nice to know that other people can do these things, and produce some incredible artwork. ...

Computer Graphics #2
2007-10-13 02:24:00 But the graphics of 1981 are nothing compared to the latest technology. Look at this video and see how it developed. It took more than 25 years for it to develop. But I don´t think that it´ll take another 25 years to come up with a retrospect like this. I think during the next 10 years we will achieve more than we´ve ever dreamed of. 2007-10-13 02:04:00 I just found some amazing videos about the development of computer graphics. Take a look at this movie from 1981 and what computer graphics meant back then. It looks a bit like every little child could create such a video with a little piece of demo-software. Subscribe to *chilli*technology* via Subscribe to *chilli*technology* via RSS FEED

Transformers Assited by Military and DOD
2007-07-12 10:05:00 The Transformers required more than 300 Airmen and numerous aircraft were featured in the July 4th released film to help make this movie possible. Backed by the Defense Department, the movie was more factual and realistic than most movies that portray the military are. Many 80s movies were notoriously incorrect with their cast, ranks, equipment, and protocol.

Spidey, Transformers, Pirates 3: A Battle of Computer Graphics
2007-06-15 00:00:00 Best movie graphics in 2007? I say it is a toss up between Spiderman III, Pirates of the Carribean 3 and Transformers. I have not seen the Transformers movie yet but I have seen its trailer and I reckon the movie graphics are pretty awesome. I have seen Spidey III and I was more impressed with the graphics more than the plot. There were a few instances though were I felt Spidey was a bit cartoony. The look and feel of some scenes particularly when Spidey swings through the highways did not feel right. I felt like watching a cartoon flick in some of the scenes. But dont get me wrong, the computer graphics is still impressive! Pirates of the Carribean well c'mon. We're talking about the great Jerry here! Let's say I was in awe with the effects and by the time the movie ended, I wanted to become a pirate too! Digital technology is incredible. I mean, you can recreate lost civilizations, a sinking ship, a giant gorilla or a war from a desktop computer. It is really a far cry from t...
