IBM's RoadRunner system is capable of more than one thousand trillion (one quadrillion) sustained floating-point operations per second.After the petaflop barrier the next speed to shoot for is the exaflop, exaflop is a million trillion calculations per second or a quntillion. Exaflop is a 1000 times faster than a petaflop. Is this like the speed of light. Need to get out my calculator for this. The RoadRunner system cost IBM around $100 million dollars.
