Analysts are Concerned That China May Attack India in 2012 | WND.Com
2012-01-02 20:19:00 Analysts are becoming increasingly concerned that China may launch a surprise military attack on India in 2012, based on conditions today that are similar to those present the last time China attacked India – in 1962, says a report from Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin. The concerns center on an ongoing border dispute between the two ...

Mayor Daley concerned revamping Wrigley Field may be too costly
2010-11-14 22:17:00 (Photo by Shauna Bittle/ Tribune)Last week Cubs' co-owner Tom Ricketts pitched an idea to have the state help finance $200 million in renovations to the Friendly Confines. The Ricketts family, who purchased the team and the historic ballpark from RedEye's parent company Tribune Co. last year, seeks state-issued bonds to preserve Wrigley Field which would be paid off by using increased Cubs' ticket-tax revenue over the next 35 years....
Be Concerned, Be Very Concerned
2010-10-22 13:51:00 “Questions begin to mount as Caps lose” Ed Frankovic exclaims in his WNST headline this morning. He’s so right. Again. Ed goes on to sagely point out that Claude Julien this week channeled his division bench rival Jacques Martin in strategy against the Caps: clog up the middle of the ice, allow a high volume of shots against your quality netminder, knowing that he’s going to get a good look at most of them, as the Caps are very much a perimeter hockey team, being content to blast away from the outside and not pay the price required to overcome a quality goalie and his committed teammates. Sound familiar? Seven games in and in all but one of them (New Jersey) the Caps have underwhelmed. Maybe they’re playing possum. Maybe they miss Mike Green that much. Or maybe, just maybe . . . George McPhee is savagely wrong, and it wasn’t merely a five-day anomaly last April that undid the Caps; maybe instead they’re a fundamentally flawed club as they&rs...

Social Search Through Facebook & Bing – Google Concerned?
2010-10-14 13:13:00 Facebook has been making some major announcements these days from tying up with Skype to high resolution photos and bulk tagging. It has not been a smooth ride either with the social network receiving a lot of flak for its new and improved Facebook Groups. Facebook has not been deterred by this and has now tied up with Bing to give social search a whole new meaning. Do you “Like” Bing? This new partnership will change the face of social searches. The Facebook “Like” button has been implemented on more than two million websites. This means that all the “likes” you have ever done on any website has been stored and now when your friends search for something related on Bing, it will show the relevant page and also show that you liked this page/article. This is a great feature. Think about it this way. Usually, when we are to go for a movie, or buy a new phone, we ask our friends for reviews, apart from expert reviews, because we know and believe our ...

Why Everyone Should Be Concerned About Their Facebook Privacy
2010-05-09 17:30:00 Cross-posted to my blog, because I am an attention whore. In September of 2006, Facebook opened up for everyone. Originally for college students, the site later opened up first to high school students, and then everybody else. I joined in 2005, when the site opened up for high school students. At that time, it was invitation-only, and a friend of mine from a college sent me an invitation. While I won't pretend I was one of the first members, I can say with certainty that I've been on the site longer than most people I know. In that time Facebook changed dramatically. In 5 years, the site underwent several major profile page revisions, numerous home page changes, the addition of applications,...
Concerned Women Mad About Biased Judge
2010-02-14 00:24:00 You all are gonna love this one!! In the Perry vs. Schwarzenegger marriage trial in California, some infuriating comments have come from wrtiters over at Concerned Women for America. This article, written by a man, by the way, tries to imply that the judge involved is biased because of his sexual orientation. See, he's gay! *insert exasperated gasp here*The very concerned woman, Mario Diaz, writes,"Judge Walker allowed same-sex "marriage" supporters to present hours upon hours of irrelevant emotional appeals but little legal substance. Any reasonable observer could see there was nothing there. Time after time, witness after witness, those present could not help but wonder why this debate was even happening in that courtroom? Why was the judge allowing this circus to continue?" First, I find putting the word marriage in quotes offensive. Allowing two people who are committed to each other to marry has no impact on heterosexual marriages and should ...

New Talking Head for Concerned Women
2010-01-30 23:12:00 First off, I have to applaud the Concerned Women of America for actually employing a woman to speak for them. I've blogged before about how the organization seems to allow men to do the talking, so the addition of Penny Nance is refreshing. That said, Ms. Nance gave her analysis of the State of the Union speech and made me wonder if she'd actually heard the speech or just reported what she was told to report. In a summary statement of her report (which can be downloaded from CWA), CWA stated..."CWA's CEO Penny Nance paid close attention to President Obama's State of the Union address. What she heard was an entrenching on liberal social policies and a list of new spending that will enslave our children to a crushing national debt."The Terminator's take...Ms. Nance's statement reminded me of the nursery rhyme about the sky falling. Remember the one? Henny Penny runs to tell Lucky Ducky and all the others that the sky is falling. So, in nursery rhy...
Concerned Women of America Focus on Planned Parenthood
2010-01-22 02:16:00 I'm always amused when the Concerned Women of America rant and rave...especially since many of their article writers and members are actually men! This most recent event caught my attention because it concerned my community and occurred amidst the celebration of MLK day and the sorrow of the tragedy in Haiti. Here's the story...A new Planned Parenthood building is being constructed in Houston. It is the second largest of its kind, and is located near downtown. Crowds gathered to protest, trying to show racial unity by chanting, "Black, brown and white...we are pro-life!"The Terminator's take? Get a grip!! Had the very concerned women done their research, they would know that Planned Parenthood doesn't necessarily equal abortion. The organization offers several services to help women in need. That said, I think the concerned women could have chosen to rally support for the Haitians who are still greatly in need of our support. The fact that they chose to ignore the thousa...
Should we be concerned about Brett Jackson's strikeouts?
2009-11-17 22:38:00 I made a statement in yesterday's post on Baseball America's top 10 Cubs prospects to the effect of "Brett Jackson's plate discipline will be a problem going forward", and made a comment that Baseball America has overlooked similar issues in the past, specifically with Corey Patterson.I'd like to clarify a little bit, because I think I was unclear. The problem is not with Jackson's plate discipline, which actually looked pretty good this year as he posted some surprising walk rates, it's with his strikeouts. And the Corey Patterson comment was not a comparison to Jackson, but an example of BA ignoring strikeout problems.I'd also like to dig a little bit deeper into Jackson's contact woes, to see how much of...

NOW, Germany Gets Concerned
2009-04-24 17:26:00 Dave Schuler at OTB: Germany is concerned about the Taliban fighters nearing Pakistan’s Islamabad capital: BERLIN, April 24 (Reuters) - Germany expressed concern on Friday at the advance of Taliban fighters towards Pakistan’s capital and urged the government in Islamabad to take decisive action to ensure the security situation did not deteriorate. Taliban militants have pushed closer to the capital in recent days, vowing to impose their strict version of Islam across the nuclear-armed Muslim state. Earlier this month, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari signed a regulation imposing Islamic law in the northwestern Swat valley as part of a deal to end Taliban violence. “We are following developments in Pakistan very closely and believe like our partners, that the advance of the Taliban … is worrying,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Andreas Peschke told reporters. Peschke said the Taliban was still far from the capital and warned against overdramatising the situation, but add...

Children who are concerned about parents arguing are prone to school proble
2008-09-16 09:45:00 Children who worry about how their parents get along with each other are more likely than other children to have psychological problems. Now a new study says that children who worry a lot about conflicts between their parents are more likely to have problems in school because they have more difficulty paying attention to the tasks before them. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Rochester, Syracuse University, and the University of Notre Dame, is one of the first to chart how children?s concerns about their parents? relationship may increase their vulnerability to later adjustment problems. It appears in the September/October 2008 issue of the journal Child Development. The study looked at a group of 216 predominantly White 6-year-olds, their parents, and their teachers annually over a three-year period. Children were evaluated to determine their negative thoughts and worries about how their parents got along, based on how they completed unfinished stories a...

Electronic Smog: What Is It? and Why Should We Be Concerned?
2008-07-02 15:42:00 Regular readers of my blog know that my main concerns are in education and in enhancing education so that children's skills blossom. But there is a range of ancillary issues that plays a big role in accomplishing this goal. One of those issues concerns the health of children. That is where electronic smog comes in. It is the term that has been created to capture the fact that the electricity that powers our civilization gives off a range of effects that appear to be dangerous.Scientific evidence has begun to show that it may be causing cancer and miscarriages as well as making some people allergic to modern life.

The Eco-Friendly bomb for the global warming concerned rogue nations
2008-05-29 04:56:00 Ok this is one of those breakthroughs that just seems to be stretching the lines of what's considered "useful". Not to mention that the fact that scientists have developed an... eco-friendly bomb seems to be the biggest oxymoron to ever be uttered by a human's existence. In fact thanks to the University of Munich and their development of this new bomb based on 2 compounds known as HBT and G2ZT, the only thing that will remain in it's aftermath is ammonia. Now personally I say if their going to cover the area they've just leveled with a mist of ammonia as the bomb's only aftermath, then at least add some lemon scented essence to it that way it's not only terrorist-free and bacteria-free but also smells nice and fresh as well. As I said this breakthrough seems as big a deal as the guys who invented all natural acne treatments because they figured the standard stuff just wasn't good enough. But I mean come on when do inventions and breakthroughs just become stupi...

Ansal Housing Concerned For Weaker Sections
2008-05-28 08:35:00 There is a shortage of housing of over 20 million dwelling units in both rural and urban areas. The investment required to achieve the National dream of everybody owning a home is estimated to be around Rs.400,000 crores including cost of civil infrastructure like water supply, sanitation, electricity, roads etc. Till a decade or two ago, the responsibility of providing housing and urban infrastructure was left to the Improvement Trusts/Housing Boards/Development Authorities. However, it was observed that despite best efforts, they have not been able to meet the challenges and expectations of the public. There is a shift in the approach to encourage more competitive participation of private sector in housing and civil infrastructure development. Following this trend, Delhi-based real estate developer, Ansal Housing and Construction Ltd will develop houses for the economically weaker sections (EWS) of the society at Ashiana Colony in Lucknow. The company will develop a total of 2,352...

If liberals are really concerned about McCain's age...
2008-04-30 04:04:00 I've heard the concerns on the left over McCain's age (born 1936) and understand- eventhough I don't agree- with their concern. Since I know the left is always consistent, they should apply the age cutoff to other public figures as well. Therefore, the following people should quit public life, for the good of the country, and march (or roll) to the nearest retirement home: 1. Noam Chomsky (1928). 2. Ted Kennedy (1932). 3. Jimmy Carter (1924). 4. John Paul Stevens (1920 [All Supreme Court Justices before November, please.]). 5. Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1930).Powered by b2evolution.

Phillies concerned about Myers' lost velocity
2008-04-28 14:46:00 From the sound of it, Brett Myers and Rich Dubee are on the same page. They just can't agree on how to turn it. After Myers allowed four runs on eight hits, including two home runs, in a 5-1 loss to the Pirates Sunday, the pitcher, the pitching coach and manager Charlie Manuel all expressed concern about Myers' performance through six starts, particularly a puzzling drop in his velocity and his tendency to compensate by throwing more cutters. Following the loss, Manuel and Myers met behind the manager's closed office door for about 10 minutes. Myers has given up at least two home runs in four of his six starts, and has allowed 10 this season. Normally, the righthander's fastball tops out in the low-to-mid 90s. For most of the season, including yesterday's loss, it hasn't cracked 89. Manuel said the radar gun show that Myers best fastball was between 92-95 mph.Bubee, in his fourth season as the Phillies' pitching coach, acknowledged the drop in velocity, but said it might be c...

Braves concerned about Smoltz; Chipper OK
2008-04-28 13:01:00 The Altanta Braves arrived for this series with the Mets looking good with Chipper Jones sporting a league-leading .433 batting average and John Smoltz an eye-popping 0.78 ERA after his first four starts. In three days the outlook has changed according to the New York Daily News. Smoltz, the 40-year-old future Hall of Famer, said he needs to have his shoulder looked at by medical staff after pitching four substandard innings and taking the loss in the 6-3 defeat Sunday at Shea. Jones was shelved for a second straight day with back spasms. While Jones' situation doesn't appear to be a long-term issue, Smoltz's could be. He seemed to be unclear about what to do about it and even brought up the possibility of missing starts to get right. "I'm going to get it checked and we'll see if we have to rest it . ... or what," Smoltz said. "I can't pitch like that. ... I can't help this team like that. "The next couple days I should know what path we're looking at."

Concerned With the Safety of Your Children?
2008-04-22 19:48:00 We live in times when you cannot be sure that you are safe. I am not trying to scare anyone, but I think that that is the truth. This especially applies to children, as they are defenseless and many bad things might happen to them. I am writing about this, because I think that I discovered a gadget, which could help you to make sure that your family is safe. I am talking about a GPS unit by GTX Corp, which can be tracked in real time on Google maps. The size of the device is small, similar to a matchbook and it could fit in a pocket or in your child's backpack. Carrying this unit ensures that you can know where the person who carries it is at the moment by using Google maps. The location of the GPS unit on Google maps seems to be updated in real time, so it does the job quite efficiently. Of course it would have been an exaggeration if I said that this would guarantee safety of your children, but at least you would know where they are and this could be really useful in various circ...
