EU Concerned Over Serbian Election
2008-05-09 09:41:00
The European Union is worried about the May 11 elections in Serbia where the ultra-nationalist Radical Party may become the stongest group in parliament. It is led by Tomislav “Toma” Nikolic, a rabble rouser who plays to nationalistic emotions and promises never to give up the fight to ensure Kosovo remains part of Serbia. He ...

If liberals are really concerned about McCain's age...
2008-04-30 04:04:00
I've heard the concerns on the left over McCain's age (born 1936) and understand- eventhough I don't agree- with their concern. Since I know the left is always consistent, they should apply the age cutoff to other public figures as well. Therefore, the following people should quit public life, for the good of the country, and march (or roll) to the nearest retirement home: 1. Noam Chomsky (1928). 2. Ted Kennedy (1932). 3. Jimmy Carter (1924). 4. John Paul Stevens (1920 [All Supreme Court Justices before November, please.]). 5. Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1930).Powered by b2evolution.
Phillies concerned about Myers' lost velocity
2008-04-28 14:46:00
From the sound of it, Brett Myers and Rich Dubee are on the same page. They just can't agree on how to turn it. After Myers allowed four runs on eight hits, including two home runs, in a 5-1 loss to the Pirates Sunday, the pitcher, the pitching coach and manager Charlie Manuel all expressed concern about Myers' performance through six starts, particularly a puzzling drop in his velocity and his tendency to compensate by throwing more cutters. Following the loss, Manuel and Myers met behind the manager's closed office door for about 10 minutes. Myers has given up at least two home runs in four of his six starts, and has allowed 10 this season. Normally, the righthander's fastball tops out in the low-to-mid 90s. For most of the season, including yesterday's loss, it hasn't cracked 89. Manuel said the radar gun show that Myers best fastball was between 92-95 mph.Bubee, in his fourth season as the Phillies' pitching coach, acknowledged the drop in velocity, but said it might be c...
Braves concerned about Smoltz; Chipper OK
2008-04-28 13:01:00
The Altanta Braves arrived for this series with the Mets looking good with Chipper Jones sporting a league-leading .433 batting average and John Smoltz an eye-popping 0.78 ERA after his first four starts. In three days the outlook has changed according to the New York Daily News. Smoltz, the 40-year-old future Hall of Famer, said he needs to have his shoulder looked at by medical staff after pitching four substandard innings and taking the loss in the 6-3 defeat Sunday at Shea. Jones was shelved for a second straight day with back spasms. While Jones' situation doesn't appear to be a long-term issue, Smoltz's could be. He seemed to be unclear about what to do about it and even brought up the possibility of missing starts to get right. "I'm going to get it checked and we'll see if we have to rest it . ... or what," Smoltz said. "I can't pitch like that. ... I can't help this team like that. "The next couple days I should know what path we're looking at."
Concerned With the Safety of Your Children?
2008-04-22 19:48:00
We live in times when you cannot be sure that you are safe. I am not trying to scare anyone, but I think that that is the truth. This especially applies to children, as they are defenseless and many bad things might happen to them. I am writing about this, because I think that I discovered a gadget, which could help you to make sure that your family is safe. I am talking about a GPS unit by GTX Corp, which can be tracked in real time on Google maps. The size of the device is small, similar to a matchbook and it could fit in a pocket or in your child's backpack. Carrying this unit ensures that you can know where the person who carries it is at the moment by using Google maps. The location of the GPS unit on Google maps seems to be updated in real time, so it does the job quite efficiently. Of course it would have been an exaggeration if I said that this would guarantee safety of your children, but at least you would know where they are and this could be really useful in various circ...

Prof. Ricky Lim's reply to the "Concerned Alumnus"
2008-04-15 06:20:00
The whole saga our MBA batch is going through seems to be almost drawing to a close as Prof. Ricky Lim tackles point by point the issues raised by a "Concerned Alumus." He emailed me his reply, along with the points he is answering:Concerned Alumnus: Prestigious accreditations carry a hefty price. Given the various accreditations that AIM has, it is obvious that a slight tuition increase would have been imposed. Since AIM has lost EQUIS (I hear their logo will not be on the new diplomas and transcripts), will the current students be given a refund? Will the incoming students be given a discount from their fees as well?RAL: The EQUIS and AACSB logos were never in the transcripts or diplomas--just the AIM seal. This goes for all diplomas since 1968, degree or certificate. And as for tution increases since accreditation--and in some years there were none--these were for other cost increases and revaluations of the peso, and not due to paying for accreditations. CA: You said ...

A "Concerned Alumnus" Speaks
2008-04-13 10:52:00
A few days back, Prof. Ricky Lim, Associate Dean of AIM's W. SyCip Graduate School of Business, answered burning questions from this blog readers in an open Q & A session. His replies were able allay some of the concerns of a good number of people, which delved on placement and education quality. Judging from the people's comments on that post, people were satisfied with the reply.Except one person.I received a comment on the post about Prof. Lim's replies from a person who posted under the handle "Concerned Alumnus." His comment was very provocative that I have decide to devote a post on his comment alone. I shall present his thoughts in verbatim:I believe in AIM. I have faculty friends, past and existing. I have student friends, past and existing. I keep in touch with them. Because I believe in AIM.I have a lot of questions. I am looking in from the outside. There is lack of official information. I will just make do with what I have and make my questions as factual as possi...

Women’s Hair Loss - Should You Be Concerned?
2008-04-12 07:27:00
There is little doubt that women’s hair loss happens as time passes and as they age they are bound by some varying degree of loss of hair but what worries women most is the intolerable stigma associated with this type of condition. When it comes to women losing their hair there are certain patterns that occur which includes a condition known as Telogen Effluvium  where a diffuse shedding of hair from the scalp happens and it might also happen on other parts of her body.  It might occur because of a great amount of stress on the physical system of the body or on the hormonal system or in reaction to specific medications and can happen at any age. Telogen Effluvium A woman’s hair loss condition such as this might begin very suddenly and then get better on its own within roughly 6 months though for some unfortunate individuals it may be chronic.  It is simple to diagnose these women as being over anxious or neurotic since it develops some time after the trig...

Jeremy Accardo blew the save. Second game in a row where he's given up the game winning run. Not good. I'm becoming a little concerned about our closer.Nursing a 3-2 lead, Accardo beaned the first batter he faced and then gave up a triple to Jays killer Mark Ellis. He then struck out Daric Brown and intentionally walked Jack Cust before being relieved by Brian Wolfe. As a matter of fact, I'm not really feeling Wolfe all that much either right now.Give Accardo a blown save and the loss, his second consecutive one. After being charged with four earned runs, Accardo's ERA is now 10.38. Even more disconcerting is that opponents are batting over .370 against him. Yikes.Let me be clear: I'm not worried about Jeremy Accardo. He proved last year that he could be an effective closer in the American League East, and I'm not about to write him off after five games this season. I'm just a little concerned. So, umm, B.J. Ryan, how you doin' buddy? And on a side note, why can't the Jays hi...

According to information obtained by Washington and Jerusalem, North Korea transferred technology and nuclear materials to Iran to aid Tehran’s secret nuclear arms program. Read More…
Should You be Concerned About the Health Impact of Cell Phone Radiation on
2008-04-06 19:40:00
Few people have not heard the many different rumors, ideas, beliefs, and "news reports" that have indicated that the radiation from cellular phones may be bad for our health. Gossip claiming health issues of all kinds, from brain tumors to birth irregularities and other claims have been related to talking on cell phones, but have you ever asked yourself if any of these stories actually have facts to go with them? If you or someone you love uses a cell phone - especially on a regular basis - then the odds are that the thought has indeed crossed your mind. The reason that so many people have heard and often believe these stories is because of the electromagnetic waves used by regular cell phones that are in the microwave range, as well as the growing number of cell phone towers popping up in residential areas and places where people commonly gather. When it comes to cell phone towers, they have been specifically designed so that the waves occur far above where people are moving about, a...

Yanks not concerned about Posada's sore shoulder
2008-04-05 14:30:00
The New York Yankees were hopeful that Jorge Posada's ailing shoulder would be fit enough for him to catch Friday night, but after Posada tested it by throwing before the game, he was moved to designated hitter instead. "Jorge said it's better, but it's not ready to be pushed," Cashman said. "It just comes down to how he felt. It's not right there, but it's better." Cashman said he was not worried about Posada and that there were no tests scheduled for the stiff shoulder. Posada walked around the clubhouse before batting practice with a heat wrap on the shoulder. Jose Molina caught for the third straight game. Posada has not been behind the plate since the opener, although it's possible he can catch Saturday.
Lohan's dad concerned over daughter's future..

Lindsay Lohan has recently signed to play Manson cult member, Nancy Pitman in the forthcoming film, ’Manson Girls’."Pitted on the story of the big-time murderer, Charles Manson who has recently come out after serving a long-term imprisonment, this movie might cause problems for Lohan", states her dad Lindsay Lohan. Suggesting that Lohan concentrate on the family films that has given her name and fame, her dad strongly opposes to her being a part of the film. He tells the New York Daily News, "I don’t know who is making decisions for her. But I just wish she would go back to those family-style films, The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, you know. Angels concerned about Shields' arm
2008-03-23 15:00:00
Just what the Los Angeles Angels need, another pitching injury. A team that will open the season without starters John Lackey and Kelvim Escobar and long reliever Chris Bootcheck is now in jeopardy of losing setup man Scot Shields, who has been shut down for a couple of days because of tightness in his forearm the Los Angeles Times reported. Shields nor Manager Mike Scioscia believes the injury, which flared up after Shields threw two innings in a triple-A game Wednesday, is serious, but the right-hander said it's in an area he hasn't had inflammation before. And considering Shields didn't pitch until March 13 because of a sore shoulder and has been erratic in the four innings he has logged this spring, there has to be some concern Shields might not be ready for the March 31 season opener at Minnesota.

Delgado - should we be concerned or relieved
2008-03-16 16:14:00
Talk about a tale of two games, for Carlos Delgado yesterdays game looked like two completely different hitters at the plate. My biggest concern for this offense is Delgado, all the other hitters will go through their slumps but there's no reason to believe that they won't rebound. But Delgado is in an advance baseball age, suffers from chronic nagging injuries and has offensively declined each year he's been with the Mets. During the depths of Delgado's slump last year he completely lost his mechanical timing at the plate and didn't appear to have adequate bat speed to hit major league pitching, this resulted in alot of guessing which had him swing at some really bad pitches and watching good ones just blow past him as the bat rested on his shoulder. Just as he seemed to put it all back together in Sept. his hand was broke by an errant pitch. So Delgado entered camp with alot of question regarding his offensive capabilities, those questions grew into concerns when his hip...

Now, after being discharged from the Stallworth Rehabilitation Center, Long remains in a first- floor motel room, his temporary home, recovering from a punctured lung, eight broken ribs, a "filleted" pelvis, a severed urethra, and a fractured C-6 vertebra.
