Busting the Republican Brand - Time to start a NEW Conservative Party!
2008-05-22 16:44:00
I wanted to post this article since we were talking about this the other day. Peggy U said in a comment: “I’m definitely thinking a new Conservative party may be the only answer” I agree 100% - Man I wish I could figure out some way to at the very least spark the interest of a bunch of ...

Cadman and Harper
2008-03-12 14:33:00
Hello all,Here we are in political turmoil aren't we.Harper is suing the Liberals and Dion. Opposition is accusing the Conservatives of offering money to sway someone's vote in the House.Well lets see. What do you believe? I think you had two guys in the conservatives that really wanted to make a change for the conservatives and therefore offered a dying man some money for his vote. he refused. Do you think Harper knew anything about it - probably not. Why? Beause he's busy running the government, the country, etc. He is not responsible for running the conservative party, their are dozens of other serfs to do that.It also makes sense to make that offer of money, because Cadman had terminal cancer no insurance company in the world would have insured him.Is Harper in his right to sue Dion and the Liberals for their comments on their website and to the media outside the House of Commons. I do beleve the liberals comments are slanderous, they occurred outside th House and therefore H...

Conservative Party win the Election.
2007-11-09 09:32:00
Tories win!!!OK it's only a by-election, but every little helps, right? The Conservative Party has won a vacant seat on Telford and Wrekin Council after winning a by-election. John Dixon beat Labour's Liz Swift by 593 votes to 362 to take the vacant Brookside ward following a ballot on Thursday. The win means Conservatives now hold 26 of the authority's 54 wards. Well done John Dixon!
Telegraph YouGov poll puts the Conservative Party 3 points ahead of Labour.
2007-10-26 07:51:00
More good news for the Conservative party, bad news for Labour and terrible news for the LibDems. This morning's Telegraph YouGov poll puts the Conservative Party at 41%, 3 points ahead of Labour, while the LibDems drop 4 points down to 11%.These figures match exactly those shown in an Ipsos/Mori Poll carried out on behalf of The Sun two weeks ago. They are however a massive improvement on the last YouGov poll carried out three weeks ago when the Tories trailed Labour by 11 points. This is the first time that the Conservative party have polled more than 40% in a YouGov survey since 1992. If that is not bad enough for Brown, members of the Cambridge Union debating society voted 302 to 95 in favour of the motion: "This House has No Confidence in Her Majesty's Government."Further good news for the Tories comes from the results of the party leaders approval ratings. David Cameron has come from being 23% behind Gordon Brown to enjoy a 6% lead.Looks like Gordon has made one good decision...
Today's Wounded Canadian Soldier and the Afgahn Mission
2007-10-24 15:09:00
Anyone looking at the Post or inside the Ottawa Citizen will see the photo of a wounded Canadian soldier crawling in a sandstorm.A picture is worth a thousand words. As soon as I get a copy of it I'll post it up. This picture was pulled from the web and tells us a different story a good story.Today's sandstorm photo tells us the truth. Our soldiers are helping the Aghan country, we are there because of 9/11 in which our allies and even our people, Canadians died as well that day, our allies and our people were attacked. Al-Queda and the Taliban are considered indifferent from each other. They help each other and fund each other through drug money, opium. They train each other and work together. They are an unseen enemy on the other side of the globe. The best way to battle the Taliban is to educate their young to show them a different life and hope that they choose a route that is different then what the Taliban and Al-Queda offer. Even so Stephen Harper and the conservatives want...
Ottawa Mayor and Harper's Inner Circle in Bed Together
2007-10-12 15:08:00
Eh! Ottawa Mayor Larry O'brien continues to make headlines with his bribe of Kilrea. Check out this article.http://www.canada.com/o-ttawacitizen/news/story.html?id-=714bc9f1-70dd-45c8-849b-c9b4a8-fd804d&p=2Now he's pulling in Stephen Harper's campaign managers. Interesting indeed. Now we know Harper wouldn't be involved in this himself, but the fact that Baird was previsouly mentioned and now the campaign manager is mentioned is not good. This will not help the public image of the Conservative Party locally as it creates a negative perception. Perception holds a lot of weight with the people. You know that theory - guilt by association, and the headline is damning enough. For those people that only read the headline, will get and keep that 'perception aspect altogether.

Conservative Party Press Release - Gordon Brown Raids Pensions AGAIN.
2007-10-10 16:18:00
Gordon Brown's 2 billion pensions tax raidIn yesterday's Pre Budget Announcement (PBR), Alistair Darling announced the early introduction of the flat rating of the State Second Pension (S2P). The original deadline for this reform was the end of the next parliament, not until around 2014. Bringing this change forward has raided over 2 billion from people's pension funds over the next five years. The change was meant to come into force at the same time that the state pension was re-linked to earnings, raising the income from the basic state pension for all pensioners, but the government has not signaled any plans to bring this forward at the same time. The result will be that hardworking middle earner families will be paying more for a smaller pension. Hundreds of pounds a year that would have gone into their pensions are now going into the government coffers instead.Commenting on yesterday's announcement, Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Chris Grayling said:"Afte...
Conservative Party Conference - George Osborne's Speech
2007-10-01 16:49:00
Well I'm trying to keep up with the good news coming out of the Conservative conference, but there seems to be so much of it.George Osborne has produced what many pundits claim to be the speech of the conference. Here is a little taster:We have a new dividing line in British politics. The dividing line between a Labour Prime Minister who has taxed a generation out of home ownership and a Conservative Government that will abolish stamp duty for first time buyers. The dividing line between a Labour Prime Minister who takes away the homes of those who have saved all their lives and a Conservative Government that takes people's homes and savings out of inheritance tax.The dividing line between a Labour Prime Minister who penalises couples and presides over social breakdown, and a Conservative Government that supports marriage and encourages families to come together. The dividing line between a Labour Party that punishes those who aspire for a better life and a Conservative Government th...

Commenting on an article in the Lancet tomorrow which is highly critical of Gordon Brown's policy on tackling hospital bugs like MRSA and C-difficile, Shadow Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley, said:"We have been very clear that we need a search and destroy strategy against hospital superbugs, which is an evidence based approach. "My discussions with the Centre for Hospital Acquired Infections in Nottingham suggest that it will require a six year programme to bring the levels of MRSA down in line with Holland and Denmark."We need a wide ranging programme. Deep cleaning is only one early step and is no good if applied in isolation without the rest of the strategy."Gordon Brown is engaging in populist gimmicks. Conservatives are the party putting forward the necessary policies of government."Responding to comments made today by British Medical Association chief, Hamish Meldrum, who has accused Gordon Brown of spin, Shadow Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said:"NHS professionals know tha...
Conservative Party Leadership Election.
2007-09-15 12:25:00
It's time to put any questions of David Cameron's aptitude to lead the Conservative Party to bed. The most significant reason to do this is to avoid wrecking our chances of winning the next election. In-fighting is precisely what Gordon Brown wishes to see from the Conservatives. I'm positive that any hint of an leadership election would see Brown declaring a general election while the Conservative membership is polarised. One of the main criticisms aimed a David Cameron is that he does not appeal to the common man. Well let's dissolve this myth once and for all: I'm the common man, I'm a life long Labour supporter from Barnsley S.Yorks. I'm working class and was raised by a single parent. I'm in my thirties, I'm married with three kids and I'm an home owner. I earn around about the average wage - a little more with overtime. But I don't see a toff when David Cameron speaks at the dispatch box, I see a man with a professional air and a vehement desire to see this country b...
Shock, Dismay Horror! Dirty Politicians oh my!
2007-09-07 21:17:00
You'd think after the Liberal adscam and the millions of dollars they paid to friends for pens and pencils, oh, and we won't mention the use of office funds for trips around Canada or the world...oops just did!Well now we have the PC adscam? Or is it? Did they do something illegal by manipulating the system. The liberals say, through procedural loopholes the conservative party managed to spend one million extra in advertisement spending then they should have been allowed during the election. That doesn't sound illegal. However, it sure will be perceived that the Conservative Party led by Stephen Harper have done something totally unacceptable. Remember perception is everything. After all if you perceived me as a Liberal hater after this article then I am a Liberal hater. If you perceive me to be male or female after this article I am just that. Perception is everything. The masses shall decide what they perceive to be right from wrong. And for most of the population, they will pe...
Conservative Party - How We Stand Today 03 Sept 07 (Gordon Brown's Speech)
2007-09-03 09:51:00
Where to start? It's a very busy few days in the news for the conservatives:EU Treaty Referendum. On Gordon Brown's refusal to give the people the referendum on the EU Treaty that labour promised in their manifesto, the shadow home secretary, David Davis said ministers would ultimately face an angry public who believed they were promised a vote. International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander defended the Labour's betrayal, saying: "We live in a parliamentary system here in the UK. Other countries have different systems." Yes, and I also was led to believe we lived in a democracy, you deceitful fool. Click HERE to sign the Telegraph's EU referendum petition (76,500 signitures and counting).Public Spending.Shadow chancellor George Osborne has pledged that the conservatives will match Labour's projected public spending totals for the next three years. George said: "The result of adopting these spending totals is that under a Conservative government there will be real increas...

Conservative Party plans to slash 14bn per year from legislative costs mis
2007-08-13 02:00:00
The Conservative Party's celebrated plan to slash 14bn per year of legislative costs from business misjudges the mood of employers, a leading figure has warned. Tory attempts to win back voters from Labour will be kick-started on Friday (17 August) when shadow chancellor George Osborne backs the ambitious Redwood Report. Proposals in the report, compiled by former Tory cabinet minister John Redwood, are said to include repealing Working Time Regulations and making it easier for firms to make employees redundant. But David Yeandle, deputy director of employment policy at manufacturers' body and powerful lobbyist the EEF, revealed that no-one had asked businesses' opinions. "I would have hoped that they would have consulted with us on this," he told Personnel Today. "I am sceptical on whether it will work - and I have not heard many people saying they want these laws scrapped." Yeandle warned that getting out of European legislation such as the Working Time Directive wou...
Conservative Party review concludes farmers? role must change
2007-07-03 16:17:00
The man who is advising the Conservative Party on its future environmental and agricultural policy has said that farmers of the future will have a completely different role. John Gummer, chairman of the Quality of Life Policy Group set up by Tory leader David Cameron, told visitors to the Royal Show on Tuesday (3 July) that the starting point of his report was that climate change changed everything. ?There is no way in which previous policies, right across the board, can merely be tinkered with and accelerated or slowed down simply to meet so huge a challenge,? he said. Mr Gummer said the report, which is still at draft stage, took a holistic view of agriculture and the land, rather than adopting the standpoint of either farmers, environmentalists or country people. ?We?ve got to understand again the meaning of the land which we farm and use and in the context of climate change recognise that it is going to have to recover a whole series of roles which it has lost. ?First...
Skilled migrants get backing from Conservative Party over 'unfair' changes
2007-06-19 17:36:00
The Conservative Party has waded into the burgeoning row over controversial changes to the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme. Shadow immigration minister Damian Green has written to his Labour counterpart Liam Byrne asking the government to suspend changes to the programme made in November 2006. Campaigners have estimated up to 40,000 migrants could be forced out the UK as a result of the changes. The move comes a week after the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) wrote to the head of the Border and Immigration Agency warning that the changes breached race laws and were discriminatory. The CRE gave the government a deadline of 5 July to address its "substantive concerns". In the letter, Green wrote: "[The Conservatives] believe it is unfair that skilled and useful workers who have made a commitment to this country should have the rules of the game changed after they have arrived here. "Since the CRE has raised a new point about the failures in consultation before these...
Reader Notice - I've joined the Conservative Party
2007-05-22 15:44:00
Just a quick post to let you know that I've joined the Conservative Party. I've always voted Labour, but I feel that they have had their day. This should not influence my writing, any MP, no matter what party they belong to will be criticised if they deserve it. Obviously I will also try to promote any worthy policies that David Cameron produces.CheersSteve.
Conservative Party plan for Greenhouse Gases in Canada
2007-05-03 00:00:00
This is a guest post by chrisale. A major policy speech introducing the new plan by the Conservative Party of Canada to reduce Canadian GHG emissions has been leaked to the Opposition Liberals... and in an attempt to avoid influencing the markets before they open today (Wednesday), the crux of the plan has been released. The CBC reports: The speech says that by 2020, the government hopes it will have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 150 million tonnes. It also says the government will explore emission credit trading with the U.S. and Mexico, something they have been reluctant to embrace in the past. "The Tory government intends to stop the rise of greenhouse gases in three to five years". [break] So... this begs numbers. Here's the Quick Facts thanks to Environment Canada's Greenhouse Gas Inventory and some quick math: The Kyoto Target: ie. 1990 CO2 levels for Canada: 599 Megatonnes (MT) 2004 CO2 emissions: 754MT Estimated 2007 emissions given 2% growth rate: 790MTB Estimated...
