When it first started the freezing I would just let it stay on the table in the ON state until the battery was drained. After it was working again, I would listen to it through the docking station, until the next freeze up where I learned to leave it in the docking station where it would drain faster, thus becoming operational a little faster. Back when the laptop hard drive crashed I received a new Laptop. I installed iTunes on that laptop last evening only to find that Apple will not facilitate the restoration of your iPod to a new PC, even if the old PC was no longer available.
