Count me as one of the latter. It was a fun season, to be sure, but a frustrating one. Two of my four keepers were Jason Bay and Travis Hafner; Bay is getting the boot for next year, Hafner will stay on for one more go around. I picked Jermaine Dye instead of Alex Rios, took Roy Oswalt as my #1 SP, suffered through Aramis Ramirez’s knee injury, and watched Justin Morneau crumble in the stretch and Alfonso Soriano go down with hammy woes. Once I cast this little morsel out into cyberspace, I’ll be throwing my dirty laundry in the car and heading up to idyllic Middlebury, VT, for a fabulous party weekend. Hooray. Brett Myers has taken over the closer role in Philly, as you likely already know, and he notched his first save last night. Grab him, obviously, if he is available in your league, as he could keep the role all year. As I mention below, however, I’m not quite as sold as most that Gordon doesn’t come back and regain the role. It isn’t official yet, but Jason Frasor may have lost the closer role in Toronto. 2007-04-27 12:39:00 OK: the semester is really closing in now. Really. Fortunately for me, I forged an astral link to Wily Mo Pena yesterday evening when I called his grand slam shot. Not even 17th century English satire can stop me now. We are about 15% of the way through the baseball season. Deep breath. Have you been tracking your performance? Have you noticed if you’ve been gaining or losing ground? Look at the trends. Don’t give up on slumping stars (Sheffield), but do look at your team as a whole. Recheck your projections. Take a look at the big picture. If you drafted Ian Kinsler, congrats. This is one of those times where all of the pundits were right on. Everyone had him on their sleeper list. And look at him go.
