Dig For Victory - Update: Back from Cornwall
2009-05-07 11:40:00 This Bank Holiday weekend I took a trip to Cornwall with a few mates to relax and unwind before I start my new job. So obviously I was a bit nervous that my plants would suffer in the heat. Boy was I wrong! Most of the sunflowers are progressing really well (below), though I did have to cull a couple; both sets of tomatoes are more than ready to be planted in a grow bag; there are things that look like strawberries on the strawberry plant (above) and the potatoes (above also) should start flowering soon. It's all very exciting, maybe not for you, but it is for me.In other gardening related news, BBC1's The One Show was giving away chili seeds to viewers and asked people to send in their pics. I missed out on getting seeds, but all the same it's a great idea.

2009-03-25 23:17:00 It's been a long time. Work's busy, private life is busy. Lots of stuff going on which I don't want to bother visitors with. It's not a matter of lack of material. I still have plenty of pics to choose from and to post. Normally preparing postings take some time, because I always like to provide some background information with the pics I'm posting, so I look for some useful URL's to related websites and Wikipedia, do a little bit of research etc...With all the time- and energy consuming stuff that is going on right now, maybe I should limit the backgroundinformation and just post some pics every now and then without comment or just a minimum of background information. For now I will leave you with some pics from our last trip to England, last December. See for backgroundinformation the URL's in my posting of 30 December 2008. The pics in this posting were also taken at Bude, North-Cornwall but a few days earlier when the weather was much greyer than on the pics in the other po...

Preview visit England December 2008
2008-12-30 00:52:00 It's been way too long since my last update. It was not a lack of pictures. More a lack of time and energy. The past few months have been very hectic. But hopefully the next year will be a little less hectic and more relaxed.Anyway me and my Mrs. were in England last week to visit a good friend of ours who was staying at his parent's house in Devon around X-mas. We made some trips and I shot some pics. There are more to follow, but here is a little preview from a few that I shot at Bude, North-Cornwall. In the upcoming week I'll try to post some more pics from this trip.BTW, the pics in this posting were shot with the Panasonic TZ5.Click on the pics to enlarge

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall stopped by for a sip of Lap
2008-06-05 17:12:00 Yesterday the Laphroaig Single Malt distillery played host to The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, known as The Duke of Rothesay and The Duchess of Rothesay. Cornwall
2008-03-31 17:13:00 Cornwall is a region in southern part of England that benefits from the nicest climate in the whole UK. It is a good idea to take a luxury break in Cornwall as the climate in winter is mild and the sea surrounds it from many sides. It takes only a few hours by car or bus to get there from London and the region abounds in many attractive places. I had pleasure to check it out by myself as I used to live in Devon, which is a neighboring county for some time. What attracts me to Cornwall is its many picturesque beaches and wild nature present everywhere. If you are looking for a place to rest and regain your strength, do not overlook this amazing county.

Foto: UFO's boven Cornwall Groot-Brittannie?

Cornwall is a Second Home Hot Spot
2007-10-14 13:36:00 The southwest part of England has been a holiday spot for UK residents for years, and now many are purchasing instead of renting. Though letting a house or apartment is still a popular, and reasonably-priced, way to find a holiday home, owning a second home here and throughout the UK is becoming more and more popular. Recent articles in the Times Online and the New York Times have highlighted the popularity of buying holiday homes in Cornwall and other popular areas

2007-06-18 20:13:00 Now, there's a title which is sure to wreak havoc with the search engines:)Anyway, thank you, dear readers, for your patience with yet another post about possible coalitions. Heaven forbid that anything else should be happening in the world. But I do get emails and messages from time to time from people with various motivations (not all of them sanitary), so I thought I'd flag up a few...*************************-*******************************-**A chap called Philip Hosking emails to ask for my views on the 'Cornish Question'. Much to my surprise, it is not "butter or clotted cream or both?" (to which the answer would be both), but rather the extent to which Cornwall be granted autonomy from the United Kingdom:"I am a Penryn born Cornishman from the United Kingdom and a growing Cornish and Breton speaker. I have been raised by a family and community that has endowed me with what can be best described as a Cornish national identity, another way to look at it would be of Cornish et...
