2007-02-28 03:59:05 The day after former Naples City Councilman Fred Tarrant and his wife, Odilie, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary, the couple was struck by a taxi in front of their home in Costa Rica. Both survived and are recuperating. “We were extremely fortunate the driver of the taxi hit the brakes,” said Tarrant during a telephone interview from his home in Palmares, Costa Rica, on Monday. The couple was struck on Feb. 6. “We were underneath the back end of the cab with the bumper right over top of us,” he said. “Another foot, and we’d a been history,” said Tarrant, who turned 80 in August.
