Mets Interested In Craig Wilson
2008-02-07 09:31:00 According to Mark Hale of the New York Post, the Mets have interest in free agent first baseman/left fielder Craig Wilson. Wilson, 31, was awful last year in stints with the Braves and the Triple A White Sox. This would definitely be a minor league deal. Wilson was looked at as a possible starter just a year ago, but he fell off the radar after hitting the DL in Triple A. He may still have something left against southpaws, which would go well with Carlos Delgado.

Craig Wilson would welcome return to Pirates (AP)
2007-11-09 22:43:00 Craig Wilson would welcome a return to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Wilson, the power-hitting first baseman-outfielder who hit 29 homers for the Pirates in 2004, is seeking a bench job in the majors and would like to play again for Pittsburgh. He was dealt to the Yankees at the trading deadline in 2006 and has since ...

White Sox Signing of Craig Wilson of Little Help
2007-05-29 13:35:00 The White Sox signing of first baseman-outfielder Craig Wilson to a minor league contract will likely be of little help to the team.Braves manager Bobby Cox gave Wilson his walking papers after using him as little more than a spot starter against lefties and a pinch hitter, as Wilson's propensity to strike out, his sluggishness in the outfield and poor footwork around the first base bag precluded him from regular play. Wilson hit just .172 in 58 at-bats for the Braves.Wilson, 30, has been effective from time to time against left-handed pitching during his six-year major league career, but the fact that he was passed over this year by the Angels and other teams needing help at first base or designated hitter betrays his reputation as a defensive liability. When given an opportunity to prove himself in New York last year he hit just .212 in 40 games. No wonder the Yankees didn't want him back.Wilson's career year was 2004, when he hit .264 with 29 homers in 561 at-bats for the Pira...

White Sox Snag Craig Wilson
2007-05-28 07:44:00 According to Ken Rosenthal, the White Sox have signed 30 year-old 1B/LF Craig Wilson to a minor league contract. It was a good move before the Pablo Ozuna injury, but now the need is even stronger. Wilson, at the least, can probably help the Sox as a lefty-masher. He's at .290/.389/.527 against them in his career. The White Sox aren't known for their skills against southpaws; in fact, their .583 team OPS against them is the worst in the AL. Compare that to the Blue Jays, who have an .851 OPS vs. lefties. Oddly, the only member of the team who has hit lefties is the left-handed A.J. Pierzynski, who hasn't fared well against them in his career. If they can stomach his glove, the Sox should try Wilson in left field regularly. They've gotten a .233/.327/.340 line from their left fielders, collectively. Scott Podsednik may not necessarily provide any offensive lift to the club, but he could be out til July anyway. First things first - Craig ...
