Vegan Apple Crisps
2009-02-25 19:27:00
I came across a bunch of apples sitting on the kitchen table. They have been sitting there for a while and I was afraid they might go rotten. I decided to experiment with making vegan apple crisps.Ingredients:2/3 cup rolled oats1/3 cup all purpose flour1/3 cup dark brown sugar1/3 cup pecans6 tbsp apple sauce4 medium apples1/2 cup apple juice1 tbsp arrowroot1 tsp cinnamon1/2 tsp ground nutmeg1/4 tsp all spice1/8 tsp clovesDirections:Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a bowl, mix the oats, flour, sugar, pecans, and applesauce. Mix until it is crumbly.Chop the apples into small dices. In another mixing bowl, toss the diced apples, apple juice, arrowroot, and spices.Pour apple mixture into a baking dish and spread it evenly across the dish.Sprinkle the oats mixture on top of the apple mixture.Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the fruit bubbles slightly around the sides of the baking dish.Instead of a large baking dish, I decided to make little bite size apple crisp ta...

2008-05-16 21:05:00
You read that right. I have been trying to come up with a white french silk recipe that I was happy with for a very long time. VERY long time. Why? Well, personally I find that french silk is one of those things that is a baking staple. It makes a great pie, granted, but ...

Strawberry Key Lime Pie with Rose Scented Cream
2008-04-07 13:13:00
I love this time of year because fresh strawberries are just coming in to market here in Texas. I found a full flat of them for 14.00 and snagged them.  They were red, ripe, and fragrant, and on sale.  It seemed like alot to me…I can remember  buying flats for 3.99 to make jam…but then ...
Sensible Portions Multi Grain Mini Crisps
2008-03-27 04:25:00
I LOVE finding new snacks! Every time I shop it’s like a hunting expedition, my own little adventure. Today my hunting ground was BJ’s, a local wholesale club, and my prey was Sensible Portions Multi Grain Mini Crisps.  I’ve never heard of the brand before so I approached with extreme caution. I wasn’t going to be fooled by the frivolous displays of “whole grain” and “100 calories”. We all know these could possible be fake cries attempting to trap and confuse you into believing they are healthy.   To my surprise, upon inspecting my victim, I discover his claims to be of some merit. Made with whole grain corn, rice and oat flour these 100 calorie packs are a welcomed addition in the land empty calories, high fructose corn syrup and trans fats.   I tried both the apple cinnamon and cheddar flavors today.  The crisps are very light and airy, think Quaker Mini Delights but lighter and crisper. The flavor is ...

Asian Gourmet Rice Crisps
2008-02-28 03:20:00
I found these a few weeks ago at my local grocery store and I’ve been meaning to post them ever since.  They were in the Asian food section by the soy sauce. It was quite a surprise as I’ve been down that aisle many times and I never noticed them before. So I checked out the nutritional information and I was pleased to find that 4 crisps are only 120 calories. I guess I now need to tell you
Celebrate President?s Day with Cherry Pie
2008-02-18 13:38:00

Walkers Baked Crisps
2007-10-09 22:46:00
Arrived home yesterday, got the munches, grabbed a packet of these new crisps. I thought they were going to be pretty aweful, as most things that aren’t cooked in oil do. However, they were surprisingly nice! They’ve got the right combination of chemicals this time, and in a puff of smoke, these came out! No Tags

Allergy-Free Apple Pear Plum Crisp
2007-09-01 04:01:00
Right. This was supposed to be a pie, because I had a mix for allergy-free pie crust. Let’s just say the mix didn’t turn out too well. So, as I’d already prepared the filling and didn’t want to leave it in the fridge overnight, it turned into a crisp. If you are not allergic to ...
Parmesean Crisps

Once coconut oil is melted, spoon or pour the flax mixture into the pan. Fry over medium-high heat for 4 minutes per side or until golden brown; be careful to flip the crisps and not let them burn. Serve hot with soup (or salad). Get creative and try your hand at funny shapes!

Tasty Crisps
2007-07-13 12:34:00
Another type of "Walkers!"As promised I’m going to tell you how to make tasty crisps from the hard skin on the heels of a corpse. First you need to select the right cadaver. My favorites are down and outs. Some people call them dossers, others tramps. The best time to pick them is in the early morning when they’re fresh. You’ll find them in cardboard boxes or sleeping bags down back alleys and in shop doorways. But make sure the bugger’s dead or you’ll get into trouble. These people provide the best source of hard skin because they do a lot of walking and they’re not the sort to pamper their feet with exotic fucking lotions. The skin can be sliced off using a chef’s knife. Wrinkled skin from an old dosser makes great crinkle cut crisps. Drop them into a frying pan containing hot fat and fry until dark brown. Two of my favorite varieties are eczema and bacon, (the flakes of skin are soaked overnight in a bacon-flavored marinade), and acne and garlic. I have my own brand ...
