2008-06-10 06:33:00 Angelina Jolie commanded millions per movie and she?s worth every penny, according to Us Weekly’s film critic. Thelma Adams described the actress: ?Overall, she is worth the millions that she’s paid. She really is a good actress, and one of the sexiest women alive.? Thelma added, “Plus, she’s got the kids and Brad Pitt. She’s a triple ...
Another Islam critic to be executed in Iran within days
2008-05-30 02:12:00 His name… Dr. Foroud Fouladvand Jihad Watch brings us the grim news… ***Urgent Attention*** Another free thinker is to be executed in Iran in the coming days It is with great regret that I inform all freedom loving people of the world that the Mullahs’ terrorist regime is about to execute one of Iran’s finest thinkers, a true patriot, scholar and historian. Dr. Foroud Fouladvand is a dedicated monarchist, a Ferdousi expert as well as expert on the history of Iran and Islam. A confirmed report sent to the office of Dr. Fouladvand in London from inside Iran suggests that Dr. Fouladvand and two of his compatriots are going to be executed on Saturday, May 31, 2008 or possibly even sooner. The two men to be executed alongside Dr. Fouladvand are Mr. Nazem Schmidtt, an Iranian/American citizen, aka Simorgh, and Mr. Alexander Valizadeh, an Iranian/ German citizen, aka Koroush Lor. Dr. Fouladvand, a British citizen, was known throughout the Iranian community for h...
You Be the Critic: UGLY BETTY, GREY’S ANATOMY, THE OFFICE, SMALLVILLE &am
2008-05-16 16:47:00 Since frequent theTVaddict.com contributer ‘C.T.’ took the words right out of my mouth by saying that last night’s episode of “LOST Rocked,” I’m going to move on and simply mindlessly ramble about some of my other Thursday favorites. UGLY BETTY finally brought the funny back by reuniting Marc and Amanda (”Marc and Amanda! We’re so funny together; everyone says so.”), putting Christina/Willi’s baby on the back-burner and having Gio step up and tell Betty, “I don’t want to be the rebound guy. I want to be THE guy.” Needless to say, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves. No, we don’t want to be Betty’s guy, but we’re more than happy to never see the borefest that is Henry again. To paraphrase one of our generations great thinkers Paris Hilton [remember her?], Betty & Gio HOT, Henry NOT! In fact, here’s hoping that when UGLY BETTY moves to New York next season, the produc...

Message From Fashion Critic
2008-05-04 18:50:00 Unfortunately, a lot of you are taking the fun out of this blog for me, and that is the only reason I set it up.I set up this blog because as fan of VB & DB I could not find information about them in one place and found this frustrating and realised others would also.I have received both publicly and privately bitchy and catty comments from a small minority of you that has made me consider today that it would be best to give up on this blog as my time is being wasted.I take time to source, post, and keep you up-to-date but all I get in response is school yard comments and this is not what I expected when I set this up.If I am consistently wrong like Tina, Jen, Joanne (Jen especially who apparently knows everything about everything) and other annoying people keep saying, I suggest you set up your own Victoria Beckham blog and set the record straight.I also get comments from others saying my header is shit and that I should use one that they created. I am not a graphic design...

Finally, A Critic of Winsor Pilates
2008-05-04 18:40:00 OK, many of my long term readers and friends know my feelings about Mari Winsor. She has sold out, put her name out there endorsing every piece of crap form of pilates-esque home exercise equipment and pumps out millions of injury producing DVDs to the unsuspecting masses. Worse, her name is out there so much that people who don't know much about Pilates assume that all Pilates is Winsor Pilates (yuck!). Basically, Winsor Pilates is Bad Pilates! So I was thrilled to open my google alert one day and see the headline, Winsor Pilates not for everyone. I quote,"Two years ago, I saw Daisy Fuentes, former star of "America's Funniest Videos," advertise on television the Winsor Pilates' FatBurning Program.Daisy is so beautiful, she could probably sell me a bridge. I was 58 years old. It had been a long time since I had bench-pressed 300 pounds. I have had surgeries and other health issues. The old gray horse ain't what he used to be.I needed a plan with light resistance and fat burni...

If you can do nothing at all, then be a critic
2008-04-30 03:12:00 It is a pity we are all ordinary guys. No matter how we adore the heroes on the screen, we don’t have that ability. What’s worse, we even don’t the ability to master a skill excellently. You may good at programming, but you can never have a great idea like the War Craft. You may ...
Gwyneth Paltrow, Rap Critic?
2008-04-28 22:39:00 Since when?Gwyneth Paltrow jumped to the defense of rapper pal Jay-Z against criticism for his headlining spot at Britain's legendary Glastonbury festival this summer. It has been alleged that Jay-Z's scheduled performance on the mainstage has been largely responsible for the decline in ticket sales for the event, but organisers have slammed the suggestion that festival-goers want to see rock bands perform instead of hip-hop stars.Historically, all tickets have been snapped up within hours of their release. Paltrow, who was a witness at Jay-Z's recent wedding to Beyonce Knowles, insists the rapper will be "brilliant for Glastonbury"."He's the best rapper of all-time and I think he'll knock it out of the park."Paltrow joined Jay-Z on stage at his Royal Albert Hall gig in London in 2006, providing backing vocals for one of his songs. Jay-Z has also collaborated with Paltrow's husband Chris Martin. source

T.S.Eliot as a critic
2008-04-13 16:14:00 Eliot is one of the greatest literary critics of England from the point of view of the bulk and quality of his critical writings. His five hundred and odd essays occasionally published as reviews and articles had a far-reaching influence on literary criticism in the country. His criticism was revolutionary which inverted the critical tradition of the whole English speaking work. John Hayward says:?I cannot think of a critic who has been more widely read and discussed in his own life-time; and not only in English, but in almost every language, except Russian.?As a critic Eliot has his faults. At times he assumes a hanging-judge attitude and his statements savor of a verdict. Often his criticism is marred by personal and religious prejudices blocking an honest and impartial estimate. Moreover, he does not judge all by the same standards. There is didacticism in his later essays and with the passing of time his critical faculties were increasingly exercised on social problems. Critics ...
You Be the Critic: THE OFFICE & 30 ROCK
2008-04-11 15:31:00 Far be it for this TV Addict to rain on the ‘Comedy Night Done Right’ parade. But SCRUBS aside, one thing was abundantly clear when it came to last night’s return of 30 ROCK and THE OFFICE. The members of the Writer’s Guild of America weren’t messing around. Pencils down meant pencils down. When did THE OFFICE turn into CURBED YOUR ENTHUSIASM? Michael and Jan’s dinner party from hell was quite possibly one of the most horrifying, not to mention cringe-inducing half hours of comedy I’ve ever experienced. Sure, there were a few funny moments. Particularly Jan dancing to Hunter’s CD, Michael’s $200! Plasma TV, the video camera in the bedroom, Michael’s ‘bed’, Jan’s candle business, Dwight’s ‘date’… Okay, so there were more than a few funny moments. But there were also long stretches of awkwardness. And while most fans undoubtedly reveled in the awkwardness that was last night’s ...

The Fall and Fall of the Critic
2008-04-09 19:51:00 Artists have been leveling complaints about critics for years. (Was it not I who coined the declaration, "All theater critics' mothers suck cocks in hell!") But their days as the bastions of good taste are numbered. Check out Patrick Goldstein's thoughtful essay, "The End of the Critic?," in yesterday's Los Angeles Times. Discuss. On the other end of the spectrum, fellow blogger Howard at Howard Who? penned an equally thoughtful post in defense of the art of criticism. Discuss.I, for one, shall be neutral on this subject. I have friends who are critics, and I love them despite the fact that their mothers suck cocks in hell.

Dutch critic of Islam launches anti-Koran film
2008-03-27 23:42:00 God, how I love the Dutch. They see fundamental Islamic terrorists and basically tell them to go fuck themselves. In my country, I have appeasers like CAIR and most of the Democratic party. Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders launched a film on Thursday threaten the West" href="http://ca.reuters.com/art-icle/technologyNews/idCAL268605-320080327?pageNumber=1&virt-ualBrandChannel=0">that accuses the Koran of inciting violence and warns that Muslim immigrants threaten the West, prompting the government to appeal for calm. The film "Fitna" was posted on his Freedom Party's Web site (www.pvv.nl), which crashed soon afterwards. But it could still be viewed on a file-sharing Web site in English and Dutch. Dutch broadcasters had refused to show the film and a U.S.-based web service which Wilders had planned to use deactivated the site at the weekend after receiving complaints. The Dutch government is anxious to avert the kind of Muslim backlash Denmark suffered in 2006 over cartoons of the Pr...

You Be the Critic: CBS Returns as Funny as Ever
2008-03-18 14:42:00 Aside from having some of the lengthiest titles in the history of comedic television, last night’s two hour comedy block of THE BIG BANG THEORY, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE have one other thing in common. They all played a part in getting this TV Addict to utter five words he’d never thought he’d say, “So excited for CBS tonight.” So kudos to the Tiffany network for finally putting together a hilarious string of shows that doesn’t include a reality TV show, a police procedural and/or the train wreck I like to call BIG BROTHER. Now onto some random musings: THE BIG BANG THEORY Sandwiched between the show’s hilarious opening and closing credits, THE BIG BANG THEORY not only makes this TV Addict laugh, it more importantly makes me feel a lot better about my slightly nerdy tendencies. In other words, no matter how bad things get, I’m no WoloWizard. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER As much as I loved Ted, Marshall,...

You Be the Critic: KNIGHT RIDER
2008-02-18 15:24:00 Before reading this TV Addict’s rant with regards to last night’s special two-hour KNIGHT RIDER movie there are three things you should know. Firstly, having missed the original series by a few years, I have absolutely no warm and fuzzy feelings of nostalgia for the original Hasselhoff’s vehicle. Second, I’m still angry at NBC Ben Silverman for his recent comments with regards to FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. And finally, I’m not ten years old anymore. Which would most likely explain why I may never tune into NBC on Sunday night ever again. Two hours of AMERICAN GLADIATORS followed by what amounted to be a glorified car commercial for the Ford Mustang. My dear NBC…. what have you let yourself become? Between the endless shots of KITT which had me wondering how much Ford paid for this infomercial, to the absolutely inane banter between the show’s reluctant heroine Sarah and the incredibly boring KITT (voiced by the snooze inducing Val Kilmer), this...

2008 Critic?s Choice Awards
2008-02-14 15:22:00 Marcia Gay Harden is one of my favorite actresses, and I also like her style - simple and elegant. She looks beautiful here on the red carpet at the 2008 Critic's Choice Awards. Simple and elegant can also describe the jewelry she wore to that event - a coral silver lariat necklace and ruby CZ stud earrings. Marcia Gay Harden At the Critic's Choice awards, Marcia presented Daniel Day Lewis with the Best Actor award for There Will Be Blood. Did you hear about The Mist yet? Marcia Gay Harden plays a religious zealot, and I hear she really contributes to the tension in that freaky movie, which is based on a story by Stephen King. This is the gorgeous necklace she wore: Coral Drop Sterling Silver Heart Lariat This Tiffany-inspired coral drop sterling silver heart lariat is dazzling. The genuine gemstone reflects the surrounding light. The rhodium finished sterling silver heart that weaves through them adds shine and glitz. Did You Know? Marcia Gay was warned by a producer...

You Be the Critic: TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES
2008-02-12 16:06:00 Okay, so perhaps my half-joking prediction for Brian Austin Green’s TERMINATOR role was a bit off base. But can you really blame me for thinking that the notorious B.A.G. might possibly be the show’s first robot/human hybrid? The evidence was all there! It’s been ten years since BEVERLY HILLS 90210 went off the air and Green hasn’t aged a day. Purely human genes, I think not. That said, as each and every episode airs, TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES continues to get more and more interesting. Clearly, Josh Friedman gets the fact that while fans will never tire of Cameron and the Connors facing down the occasional indestructible robot, the real drama comes from the relationships between the characters. Like the episode’s finale scene. How great was the moment when John called Sarah’s ex-fiance Charley to help save her newly discovered brother-in-law? Talk about one awkward family dinner when Derek eventually wakes up from those multiple gun...

The Critic - The Complete Series
2008-02-07 20:43:00 To quote New York movie critic Jay Sherman, voiced to Master Thespian perfection by Jon Lovitz, “it stinks” that The Critic lasted all but two seasons. “I used to have a show on ABC,” Sherman bitterly remarks at one point, “for about a week.” The show, created by Al Jean and Mike Reiss of Simpsons legend, fared no better when it moved to Fox, and little better when re-run on Comedy Central. But it did garner a devoted following, and thanks to DVD and the Internet, “the last hope of fading stars” (according to one of the ten “Webisodes” contained in this three-disc set), Jay Sherman lives! Television’s saddest sack is the host of a TV review show, Coming Attractions. He must deal with the slings, arrows, and outrageous misfortunes heaped upon him by his ex-wife, adoptive WASP parents, and ratings-desperate Ted Turner-esque boss. On the movie front, The Critic is no less inside than the similarly ill-fated Action, but i...

You Be the Critic: THE MOMENT OF TRUTH & CASHMERE MAFIA
2008-01-24 14:44:00 Last night, the TV Addict was so desperate for original programming that I tuned into THE MOMENT OF TRUTH. While on paper the show sounded intriguing; answer questions truthfully for the chance to win half a million dollars. The reality is far from it. Turns out that reveling in the misery of others is not as entertaining as it sounds and in the end, I simply felt dirty just for tuning. Rest assured I won’t be making that mistake again. (On a somewhat related note: Help me WGA negotiating team… your my only hope!) The same can’t be said for CASHMERE MAFIA. Critics be damned, I’m loving this show. It’s light, fluffy and the perfect antidote to the grossness of THE MOMENT OF TRUTH. Did anyone else catch Bonnie Summerville’s ‘Nolita’ shout-out to hers and Darren Star’s previous brilliant but cancelled series KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL? You Be the Critic: TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES
2008-01-22 15:28:00 Last night’s episode was an interesting one. In stark contrast to the show’s first two, there wasn’t so much of an over-arching mission as little stories that will undoubtedly pay off big as the show progresses. First off, Sarah meets a cell phone salesman. What was interesting about young Andy Goode? Well, for one he was an intern at Skynet who used to work under Miles Dyson. And more relevant to Sarah’s current mission to save civilization, he may have been the man responsible for the human race’s destruction. Turns out in his spare time, Mr. Goode liked to toy with a little robots that liked to play chess. Thankfully, Sarah burned down his house by episodes end. Thus, saving the earth. We think… Meanwhile, John and Cameron attended their first day of high school and meet their scariest enemy to date — high school girls. Unfortunately, having time travelled over 2004, both John and Cameron missed the release of Linday Lohan’s MEAN GIRLS...

2008-01-15 15:43:00 Okay, so I know it’s been a few years since High School, but when did scoring a fake ID become so challenging? You Be the Critic: TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES & BROTHERS &
2008-01-14 16:18:00 After months of hype, FOX finally unleashed TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. Not surprisingly, this TV Addict has a few question. Did it live up to the hype? Is Summer Glau not incredible? And most importantly, did last night’s pilot accomplish the most important goal of any pilot. Sufficiently hook you so that you’ll be tuning into tonight’s second episode? (Which in this TV Addict’s opinion is even stronger than the first.) Moving on, last night’s episode of BROTHERS & SISTERS had all the ingredients for the perfect Walker evening. Mix a bunch of family secrets with a classic Walker family dinner.
