Powershares Agriculture (DBA): Invest in crop circles!
2009-06-29 06:00:00 "There are many reasons to like PowerShares DB Agriculture (NYSE: DBA), and ETF that tracks agricultural commodity prices," says fund expert Doug Fabian. In The ETF Trader, he explains, "We like the technical picture. In addition, we believe commodities are a great hedge against inflation." Here's his assessment."I’m a pretty skeptical guy; one of the more wild claims of the past decade or so was that so-called 'alien' crop circles -- those bizarre patterns carved into wheat, corn and other fields around the globe."Well, I say forget about the aliens, but don’t forget about the patterns taking shape in the world’s key agricultural crops."The patterns being cut into price charts of crops like corn, soybeans, sugar and wheat all have given us one compelling message, and that message is it’s time to buy."That’s why I now am recommending that you purchase the PowerShares DB Agriculture (NYSE: DBA). Sunscreen for Plants Could Increase Worldwide Crop Yields
2008-11-03 22:50:00 According to clean chemical company Purfresh, food growers lose between 20 and 40 percent of their crops every year due to sun damage, especially in water-limited regions. Crop Circle: Pizza In The Wheat Fields.
2008-08-19 17:13:00 Crop Circle: Pizza In The Wheat Fields. If you recollect, we have seen these field art designs in the past which were quite interesting. And here we have promotional field art design by pizza maker Papa John's to promote its whole-wheat crust pizza made from Colorado-milled grain in the wheat fields near Denver International Airport runways. Artist Stan Herd (with over 20 years of experience in "crop art") was the choice of the company to create this promotional field art design. Stan came up with a pizza- based design on 6 acres near Denver International Airport 's east and west runways and the choice of location was apt, with planes coming in on two strips over it. Passengers flying in and out of Denver International Airport will be greeted by this 'crop design' promoting the new whole-wheat crust pizza and this design will remain visible until the first snowfall, which would include the week of the Democratic National Convention. Crop Progress in the Chippewa Valley is behind the rest of the state
2008-05-20 19:17:00 The Capital Times reports:"The Wisconsin Crop Progress report released Monday said corn planting is 56 percent complete, soybean planting is 22 percent complete and oats planting is 83 percent complete."Spring tillage is progressing at full force with 66 percent complete, but some counties are still slow because of excessively wet soils."Counties in the Chippewa Valley region are some of those that are affected by the excessively wet soils that are a result of Wisconsin's wet winter (something I didn't have to experience this year).WEAU reports:"Chippewa County Agriculture Agent, Randy Knapp, says as of last week--local farmers had about 30% of their crop in the ground. By now, he says that number is likely up to 50%. Still, he says those numbers are behind the 10-year average.". . ."Still agriculture agents say it?s important to remember ? there?s a whole growing season ahead of us."'It's a bit cool yet, but we can make this up in June, July and August,' said Knapp."On the fli...

Crop Circles
2008-05-18 06:01:00 Don't you just love crop circles? The last couple of years we've seen some really imaginative ones... and some that make you just scratch your head and wonder what they were thinking. The stories we used to hear as kids were that aliens made crop circles as messages to spaceships flying above earth. I'm not even going to entertain those thoughts, because the real story is WAY more fascinating. Crop circles are an art form. Those who make them are artists. The medium is a bit weird, and viewing can be tough. The creation of such art is often illegal. Those who do it are dedicated, persistant, and serious as all get out. Read a bit about them at the Crop Circle Makers website. See some examples of their work. And read the story of the Circle Makers. Today, designing and creating crop circles is much easier with the help of autocad and other computer design program. Nice Crop Circles There are some standard steps in creating crop circles, and I've found a nifty how-to s...
