Crude Oil at $150 per barrel!? Malaysians are dead meat!
2008-06-09 03:00:00 Once again I would like to remind all Malaysians that fuel hikes like what we had experienced last week (Malaysian petrol was raised to RM2.70 per litre) were inevitable and unavoidable. Nobody at the bottom of the heap likes it but there is no way around it. There is no point in planning and... [[ This is a content summary only. Indonesia's natural gas production surpassing crude oil
2008-06-08 09:46:00 Indonesia's natural gas production has continued to increase from year to year and is now replacing the position of natural oil production which is now declining, a legislator said.Chairman of Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR) which deals with energy affairs, Airlangga Hartarto said Sunday that natural gas whose production was increasing would continue to become a strategic commodity in the future."The increasing volumes of gas and coal production will make these commodities to continue to be strategic in the future and to replace the position of oil which is declining," he said.A hearing between Commission VII of the House and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro on Wednesday agreed to include gas and coal production into the assumption of the 2009 state budget.Airlangga said both sides agreed to include gas and coal into the assumption of the 2009 state budget because the state revenues from these two commodities were significantly big.Mini...
The Crude Oil Vigil Continues
2008-06-02 17:18:00 Last week we opened a can of worms - albeit a good one to open - with a detailed look at crude oil’s chart. Since it really is starting to stifle the economy be creating excessive pain at the pump (consumers always complained, but didn’t mean it until recently), the future of the market really ...
Crude Oil Realities - Part Deux
2008-05-30 18:09:00 On Tuesday of this week I made a handful of points about crude oil’s chart. In a nutshell, I thought oil had peaked at $135 in the prior week, and Tuesday’s level of $133 was just the beginning of a minor correction. Now with oil trading in the mid-$127 area (you can thank me for the ...
Crude Oil May Be at Short-Term Peak
2008-05-27 16:48:00 With the holiday weekend now completely over, I suspect we’ll see the gas-pump gouging ease off. In turn, I’m looking for crude oil prices to fall back from their recent record highs. In fact, crude oil is so overbought and ripe for a dip, there may even be a trade-worthy move in the works. The daily ...
Crude Oil: Honeymoon surprise
2008-05-26 16:21:00 It is a real-life version of the Beverly Hillbillies. Or maybe it should be called the Belizean Hillbillies. My new wife made me promise to leave my laptop and writing duties at home on our recent honeymoon. Like a good new husband, I eagerly complied. But that did not stop me from keeping an eye out for some story ideas. Just minutes after landing on a dirt runway in a small ten-passenger plane, we were escorted to the beach along a rough, gravel road. We traveled through orange and papaya fields, through dense jungles, and across wide-open cane fields. The total drive…SHARETHIS.addEntry(-{ title: "Crude Oil: Honeymoon surprise", url: "http://jutiagroup.com/2008/05/-26/crude-oil-honeymoon-surprise-/" });

Crude oil threat
2008-05-23 05:08:00 There are three explanations for the oil price’s muffled impact. The first is that nowadays developed economies are more efficient in their use of energy, thanks partly to the increased importance of service industries and the diminished role of manufacturing. According to the Energy Information Administration, the energy intensity of America’s GDP fell by 42% ...

Why Oil Wealth Fuels Conflict
2008-05-10 04:09:00 The number of oil-producer-based conflicts is likely to grow in the future as stratospheric prices of crude oil push more countries in the developing world to produce oil and gas. In 2001, the Bush administration’s energy task force hailed the emergence of new producers as a chance for the United States to diversify the sources ...

Too many predicting $200 crude oil
2008-05-07 23:57:00 Watching this video reminds me of the last time such gurus were calling for $100 crude oil. This was last year when crude was going over $60. Indeed, we have clearly passed $100, but we didn't get here in a straight line. Also, these gurus rarely give timelines, so we know in principle it's gonna happen. Anyway, I suspect too many have piled into crude oil and it's time for a nice break before the next rally... Bloomberg VideoLive trades and analysis from The Lauriston Letter
How to invest in crude oil (with ETF).
2008-04-28 19:22:00 Crude oil is reaching $120 and discussions about what is target price are becoming topic number one. In this post let me provide you comparison of the most liquid ETF underlying crude oil futures or companies from oil industry. As you can see on year-to-year basis the leader is Claymore MACROshares Oil Up Tradeable Shares (UCR). This is a bit complicated structure for price valuation. But basically it consists of shares of the MacroShares Oil Up Holding Trust. And income reflects trading and settlement with futures contracts. The laggard is Proshares UltraShort Oil & Gas (DUG). But this ETF is underlying (going short) companies like Exxon Mobil (XOM), Chevron (CVX), Conoco Philips (COP) and others. This price drop is more likely triggered by good performance of oil companies rather than rising crude oil prices.http://stockweb.blogspot-.com/atom.xml
Crude Oil Prices
2008-04-24 21:38:00 $115 - $120 Oil?...bah, who cares! Declining retail sales, housing still screwed, energy and food commodities skyrocketing - I know the market anticipates future conditions but don't the glasses seem a little extra rosy right now? We bought a lot more Macs and stuff from Amazon. So everyone's staying home and on the internet. Does that mean the rest of the economy doesn't matter? Housing in the cellar - ha, so what, Mariah Carey had a lot of Amazon downloads! From a short perspective, probably the creepiest thing about this stock market is the way we dinged $120 on oil and we rally anyway. If we get short capitulation here in the next few days, we could blow through resistance and get a monster rally. Plenty of mutual funds and pension funds are sitting on huge amounts of cash after selling stock for the last six months and they exist to hold long stock. That's what they do. They sure as hell aren't in business to short stocks. If they start leaning on this thing to the ...

Crude oil crosses $100 mark again
2008-02-19 20:55:00 The crude oil prices jumps back over $100 from $97 per bbbls earlier after the news of blast in a Refinery in Texas. This is second time that oil prices have breached the $100 per barrel level. About one month back the oil prices touched the triple digit mark for the first time but soon retreated back. During the recent recession fears the prices fell back to the level of $80s. Some of the retreat was due to better supply over demand. Even though the recession fear is not totally out, and the supply-demand equation in the near future is intact, the oil prices have been rising because of speculation. Some of the possible triggers for the recent uptrend seen in the oil prices:OPEC meeting for decreasing productionPolitical issues between U.S. and VenezuelaExxon-Venezuela conflictPolitical instability in NigeriaBlast in Texas Refinery

Soaring Crude Oil price and its impact on India
2008-01-14 14:24:00 With the crude oil touching $100 per barrel in the very first week of the year, it is expected to brings a bitter taste all over the world except the oil-producing countries. But how about India? India imports around 76% of its domestic demand and the increase in oil price is always a matter of concern for the policy-makers. But this time story is not all the same, while one side the international crude oil price is at all time high, the Rupee has appreciated by more than 12% which is highest at least last 20 years. The appreciation of domestic currency has offset the impact of high price to some extent. The last increase in the domestic oil price was there in June, 2006 and which was followed with downward revision twice. The oil price has huge impact on general pricing and hence inflation. With the moderate and negligible increase in oil price government has well maintained the inflation and common man is happy about it. But, the bigger picture is quite ominous. The major supp...

Crude Oil Hits $98
2007-11-24 15:50:00 Crude oil climbed back up to $98 after concerns that inventories would decline as winter begins. We've tested hitting $100 twice already and still haven't broke through the barrier.
