Cunard Introduces Self Guided Art Tour on the Queen Victoria
2007-10-26 14:28:00
The real Queen Victoria was a virtual collection of firsts. She was the first of the modern day monarchs, having a telephone, riding a train and even playing host to a World’s Fair! She also had the longest reign, highlighted by England’s prevalence in the Industrial Revolution and eventually into a constitutional monarchy. In recognition of her greatness, Cunard engaged a select group of accomplished contemporary British artists to bring style and ambiance to its newest ocean liner, Queen Victoria. The interior collection, from the Grand Lobby to all the restaurants and famous-named rooms, pieces are acknowledged on an 80 minute self-guided digital audio overview, the Queen Victoria Art Tour, which also features video interviews by the artists.

Keeping with the practice of issueing teasers on the new Queen Victoria, the latest photos are of the Commodore Club, highlighted by sweeping views over the ship’s bow, murals of past Cunard liners in custom porthole displays and two intricate ship models at the entrance. As one eases slowly into the room, the nautical atmosphere and Old World liner elegance will be enhanced by leather sofas and club chairs amid wood inlaid flooring with a compass design. Nightly live music, martinis shaken tableside and an atmosphere of understated glamour reminiscent of the Golden Age of Ocean Travel will have guests enjoying the retreat to this cozy enclave. Cunard Announces Plans For the Next Queen Elizabeth Vessel
2007-10-11 14:56:00
Cunard has launched a bit of a surprise with its announcement of building a new cruise ship called the Queen Elizabeth. Surprising to me due to all the pomp and circumstance regarding the reitrement of the QE2 in a sale to Dubai. That being said, its always a pleasure to see Cunard introduce new additions to their historic fleet. Insiders are happy to once again be headed toward a 3 cruise ship fleet. Cunard Lines tradition dates back over 150 years for transatlantic service, and I’m sure when this Queen Elizabeth cruise ship is launched in the Fall of 2010, it will proudly continue that service. Cunard Line signed an agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for the construction of the new 2092-passenger ocean liner, which will be built at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone yard for approximately $700 million. The new 92,000-ton liner, to be named “Queen Elizabeth,” will be the second largest Cunarder the company has ever built. Carol Marlow, President ...
A New Queen For Cunard
2007-10-10 14:52:00
With the Queen Elizabeth 2 destined for Dubai in retirement, Cunard Line has wasted no time in announcing a new ship. What is the name of the new ship you ask? None other than the Queen Elizabeth 3. The QE3, just recently placed on order will be a little larger than the Queen Victoria but smaller than the Queen Mary 2, again giving the Cunard Line 3 ships when she sets sale in late 2010. The Queen Victoria is on schedule to make her debut in December of this year. Both new ships will be welcome additions to the luxury line.

Cunard Line?s Queen Victoria Wines and Dines Traditionally
2007-09-27 14:10:00
Indeed, Cunard is continuing the classic traditions of grand ocean cruising with the Queen Victoria and her magnificent offerings of the elegant restautrants, champagne bars, and of course the world famous Queens Room, the focal point of many nostalgic afternoon teas. Steeped in history, Cunard’s past showcases what to expect from the Queen Victoria in the future. Cunard firsts include the first transatlantic departures, the firt in 1840. Cunard showcased the first gym and health center way back in 1911. Cunard also held, and still holds, the record for the largest passenger ship ever built. And Cunard Line was the first to offer 3 world cruises at the same time. I expect the Queen Victoria will continue the tradition of carrying Royalty, statesmen, musicians, journalists, world explorers, and the stars of stage and screen like her sisters, the Queen Elizabeth 2 and the Queen Mary 2. In maintaining it’s reputation for food and service, the Queen Victoria offers t...
