Garnett Named First Team All-NBA
2008-05-08 22:00:00
While Kevin Garnett from the Boston Celtics wasn’t named the MVP of the NBA, he did pick up his second honor during the postseason as he was named to the First Team All-NBA squad. This is the 4th time in his career being named to the First Team. Garnett was joined on the First Team by ...

After only four years of coaching, Dallas Mavericks coach, Avery Johnson was fired Wednesday (Apr. 30th). Johnson is of course not “cool” about losing his job, but does understand that this is a part of his career. This is what the former Mavs coach had to say: “When that happens, then sometimes you need a new ...

Dallas And Suns Seasons Come To An End
2008-04-30 18:40:00
Two teams that made two big and risky trades had their seasons ended yesterday. The Suns traded for Shaq in order to match up better with San Antonio and LA but they got bounced in round one and only managed to win a game. The Mavs made a crazy trade for Jason Kidd and they ...
A few more coaches for the Bulls to choose from
2008-04-30 16:57:00
When I went to bed, Rick Carlisle was still the favorite to become the Bulls next head coach. Then, this morning, I woke up to the news that Mike D’Antoni and Avery Johnson may be available. Personally, I’d prefer D’Antoni. Discuss among yourselves.

The New Orleans Hornets win game 2 against the Dallas Mavericks. Chris Paul was hungry for points last night leading the Hornets into every quarter with the winning score. Chris Paul had 32, playoff record of 17 assists, with the dominating winning score (127-103). David West had 27 and Peja Stojakovic had 22 points. At ...
Dallas Sucks
2008-04-23 16:08:00
A lot of poeple were picking Dallas to beat New Orleans in the playoffs because of their experience. I picked Dallas to win just because I thought they were better but now I think Dallas is done. They don’t have anyone that can guard Chris Paul and they are just not mentally tough. Dirk looks ...

Would the real Dallas Mavericks please step up?
2008-03-24 12:23:00
I have seen the light. I have come around on the Kidd trade. All season, the Mavs have been enigmatic. They would play well against the best teams, even winning on occasion, then they would lose to a lottery team. There was no rhyme or reason to it. Since Kidd got to town, all has come into
Dirk Out For Two Weeks
2008-03-24 01:19:00
Dirk Nowitzki went down today against the Spurs with a leg injury and word out of Dallas is that he will be out at least 2 weeks. It is a big blow to the Maverick. They are in 7th place in the Western conference and could easily end up out outside of the playoffs. They ...
Dallas Mavericks: Looking Into The Crystal Ball
2008-03-23 21:25:00
On February 18, three days before this year's NBA trade deadline, Jason Kidd finally made his return to Dallas. This, all after almost two weeks of different reports that J-Kidd was coming to be a Dallas Maverick. Since his acqusition, the Dallas Mavericks are a mediocre 9-8, four and a half games back of the Western Conference lead in seventh place, and most importantly 0-8 against serious NBA Championship contenders. These eight loses have included the New Orleans Hornets, San Antonio Spurs (twice), LA Lakers (twice), Utah Jazz, Houston Rockets, and Boston Celtics. Seeing the Mavericks lose nailbiter after nailbiter has to be completely disheartening for the Dallas fanbase, but at least there is a little good news. Dallas has competed in six of their seven losses, but they have failed to execute and make the neccesary big plays at the end of games.  Not that it matters, but in their nine wins with Jason Kidd, the Mavericks have averaged nearly a twenty-point margin. The rea...
Celtics Three-Step Through Tejas
2008-03-21 04:12:00
The Boston Celtics have completed a sweep of Texas with a 94-90 win over the Dallas Mavericks in the 4th game of the their 5-game road trip as Ray Allen hit a big three with just over 30 seconds to play to give the Green a lead they would not relinquish. The Celtics started the trip by knocking off the Bucks in Milwaukee, then came into Texas where they beat the Spurs, snapped the Rockets 22-game win streak and now down the Mavericks as the Green finish the season 6-0 against the Texas threesome. The “Parquet Posse” did their thing again as Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett had double doubles with nearly identical totals as Pierce had 22 points and 13 rebounds while Garnett knocked in 20 points and cleaned the glass 13 times as well. Allen who sat most of the 4th quarter to rest his heal injury had 21 points as the Celtics improved to a NBA best, 55-13 and have won 14 of the last 15 games. Dallas, with the loss is now 0-7 against teams with a .500 or better record since they...

Houston Rockets at Dallas Mavericks
2008-03-07 07:15:00
NBA Betting Preview Current Odds: Mavericks - 1 , Total 184 Over/Under Thursday, 9:35 pm Eastern – TNT If Houston wins as expected at home on Wednesday against Indiana they will be coming into Dallas on a 16 game winning streak. That is where they streak may stop since the Mavericks have the second best home record in the NBA at 25-3. What will help the Rockets is that Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki will not play on Thursday as he will be serving a one game suspension for his flagrant foul against Utah’s Andrei Kirilenko on Monday. SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Rockets on the Road. Dallas has been playing the top teams in the Western Conference tough but has nothing to show for it except losses. Dallas had fourth quarter leads against San Antonio, the Lakers and Utah, but lost all three games. “It’s obviously a little frustrating,” Dirk Nowitzki said. “We’d love to win those games.” The Mavericks have a favorable schedule this month. They pla...

Dallas Mavericks get Jason Kidd
2008-02-19 22:29:00
The Dallas Mavericks traded Jason Kidd away over 10 years ago.  Since then the Mavericks have been an elite team of the west and have been to one final which they should have won.  For reasons that are unclear Mark Cuban has thrown in the future for now.  In a 7 player trade plus money, ...
Stackhouse In Trouble
2008-02-15 17:33:00
If the Jason Kidd to Dallas trade ends up going through, the NBA may prevent Jerry Stackhouse from resigning with the Mavs. The talk was that Stackhouse would be in a deal for Jason Kidd and he would most likely be bought out by the Nets. If that happens he would have to wait 30 ...

Blockbuster Trade #3: Jason Kidd to the Dallas Mavericks
2008-02-13 23:46:00
It appears that the third blockbuster trade of the regular season (fourth trade technically if you count the KG trade in the off season) is going down and it will send New Jersey Nets triple-double machine Jason Kidd and forward Malik Allen to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, ex-Laker Devean George and Mauric Ager.Wow! Another monster trade goes down and makes the Western Conference even more competitive and down right scary. First Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers, then an almost immediately counter by the Phoenix Suns getting Shaq from Miami and now one of the best point guards all-time, Jason Kidd going to make a dominant trio alongside Josh Howard and Dirk Nowitzki.Just when you thought that the Lakers would run the table in the West, Phoenix gets Shaq and Dallas gets Kidd. This season will go down as one of the biggest for superstars changing teams and making title contenders. With these four trades (KG, Gasol, Shaq, Kidd), all for of these...

Does Shaq Make Sense In Dallas?
2008-01-08 22:27:00
If you watched Dallas in last year’s playoffs, you know they needed a post player - bad. Dampier (who wasn’t available when Dallas was upset last year by Golden State) is really the Mav’s best post option right now, but he’s still coming back from injury…and let’s face it, Dampier’s not exactly a dominating presence. ...

Jason Kidd Back to the Dallas Mavericks?
2007-12-11 06:23:00
Just speculation and rumors once again, but word on the wire is that all-star point guard Jason Kidd is heading back to the place where he started his career in Dallas. Reportedly the deal would include shooting guard sixth man Jerry Stackhouse, Devin Harris and either some picks or a role player/expiring contract. The Lakers were one of the other teams in the running for the almost automatic triple-double point guard, but with not much to offer the New Jersey Nets (that the Lakers would part ways with), Jason Kidd probably will not land in LA unfortunately, but you never know! The Cleveland Cavaliers have also been mentioned as a possible team to go after Kidd and with the way their season is going they need him more than ever, but like the Lakers, the Cavs don't have much to offer either, so I would expect him to ultimately land in Dallas with Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard to make yet another dangerous trio in the NBA and possible favorites to come out of the West.OnToplist.com ran...

If you are a baseball, horse racing, or basketball fan, you know just how hard tickets can be to get. Scoring tickets to the Chicago Cubs, Kentucky Derby, or Dallas Mavericks can call for a small miracle, a ton of cash paid to an illegal ticket scalper, or a whole lot of luck. Generally, the ...

2007 NBA Predictions
2007-10-28 21:59:00
WestNorthwest1. Denver NuggetsA very talented team is poised to make a run at an NBA Championship. This team is ready to compete with San Antonio, Dallas, and Phoenix. Carmelo Anthony is one of the best scorers and players for that matter, in the NBA. If Marcus Camby and Kenyon Martin can stay healthy, I have a feeling they will be one of the best.2. Utah JazzDeron Williams is looking to be a great PG in this league and is surrounded with some pretty good talent. As long as Carlos Boozer stays healthy they should be a contender. But they also need more consistent play from Andrei Kirilenko.3. Portland Trail BlazersPortland is a very young team and should be playing for next year. With Greg Oden out, LaMarcus Aldridge will have to pick up the slack in the middle. Jarrett Jack is still an iffy point guard. Brandon Roy is a solid player, but I think they are another year away from being a good team.4. Seattle SupersonicsThey lost Rashard Lewis, their main scoring threat. It will be int...

Devin Harris Gets Extension
2007-09-13 03:45:00
The Mavs are one of few teams in the League that actually commit to keeping key players around instead of dumping them to try and say money. Mark Cuban the owner of the Dallas Mavericks thinks new league is needed
2007-06-04 23:17:00
This story comes from the Worldwide Leader in Sports, ESPN.com. Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban along with others are contemplating the development of a new Football League. The United Football League (UFL) hopes to allure NFL Players Drafted lower than the 2nd Round to become the main flux of its competition put on the field of play for potential consumers. Cuban's reasoning for starting a Rival league to that of the NFL is simple in his opinion: "It's a pretty simple concept. We think there is more demand for pro football than supply." The only problem with this idea (and this quote pulls at my heart strings as I'm a recent Economics Graduate) is that "The Demand" is for more "Pro Football", in other words, fans want to see more of the same HIGH QUALITY product. Not watered down versions of it: the XFL, Arena League Football, and the Canadian Football League. Are you the fan going to want to watch the Lorenzo Bookers, the Quinn Pitcocks, and the Troy Smiths of the world bat...

Why Bill Hambrecht and Mark Cuban's UFL - United Football League - Will Fai
2007-06-02 17:06:00
Well, all I can say is "here we go again." A group of rich guys with egos -- no women involved here -- think that because they have enough money to start a football league, it will automatically work. In the newest example, we have the to-be-called United Football League , or UFL. This is an idea started by San Francisco Bay Area investment banking maverick Bill Hambrick, who's firm WR Hambrick and Company I remember as Hambrick and Quist, and who employed a friend of mine from Skyline High School school, Marla Goldstein.Ok, enough of that. Hambrick managed to come up with this idea of the UFL and get Internet entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks owner (funny, how the word mavericks comes up here more than once) to sign on as the first owner of a team. As I understand the UFL concept, they're going to establish cities in areas where the NFL does not have a team, and "compete" with the NFL for players that come out of college "lower than the second round." OK. Here's the founda...
It?s official, Dirk Nowitzki is the 2007 NBA MVP. Will this go down as one
2007-05-16 05:02:00
Dirk Nowitzki has been announced 2007 NBA MVP after coming up short against the Golden State Warriors in this year’s playoffs.  Dirk has no doubt been the best player on his team during their 67 win stretch to the first team in a minute to challenge the Chicago Bulls 72 win record.  He beats out Steve ...

Watching History [David Stefanini]
2007-05-04 06:33:00
Since I wrote these words..."The game and this series may be over."It seems as if the Golden State Warriors have responded and said you are correct, only it's the Mavericks who are finished. I wrote that quote when I saw Baron Davis hobble off the court, and heard the reports about how his playing ability will be affected. But he went on to come back onto the floor late in the 2nd quarter and went on a scoring spree. He scored 11 straight points for the Warriors at one point. Then the 3rd quarter happened. Stephen Jackson exploded, hitting three after three, and the lead has shot up to, 82-59 with 1:33 remaining in the 3rd.This is simply amazing to watch. This is going to go down as the greatest upset in NBA history if they can find a way to hold on to this lead.Everybody knows the Mavericks have one final run in them to try to save their season. We all saw it in Game 5 when they went on a 15-0 run to end the game, and force a Game 6. The Warriors need to keep attacking, and keep th...
Warriors may Have already Lost *Update* [David Stefanini]
2007-05-04 05:05:00
The game and this series may be over.Baron Davis had to leave the game with an apparent hamstring injury. Watching the game, the commentators are saying it looks to be a hamstring injury that will most likely keep Davis out for at least the end of the first half. The energy that was beaming from the crowd is no longer there. The Warriors faithful have seen their only chance to win this series hobble off the court with an injury. The only thing I can hope for is that I misunderstood what the commentators said, or that they are just wrong. Hopefully Davis can come back out and play at 100% and lead his team the way he has. This is such an unfortunate post that I have to write. I was very excited to watch this game tonight and I was expecting fireworks from both teams. I wanted to see both teams at 100% giving everything they had. Now I may have to watch the Dallas Mavericks roll right over the Warriors, because they are missing their star player. If Davis is injured, the Mavericks become...
