Danzig v Bocek: This fight was more exciting than I expected it to be, mainly because I had no idea whether Bocek was any good. Turns out he is. I?m not sure if I agree with the commentators that he?s an amazing BJJ guy because, even in the first round, his most victorious, he kept putting himself in poor positions. Obviously, in the last two rounds that Danzig dominated, poor positioning is a little more understandable, but it almost seemed like he was overly worried about getting hit, which made it easier to distract him while Danzig took up superior positions. Danzig?s good, but I?m not sure how soon or if he?ll ever get a shot at the top guys (arguably Penn and Sherk right now) because there are so many talented 155 guys in the UFC, not to mention those outside the organization. He did well in this fight, but I think he has a long road ahead to become serious contender. Despite being a vegan-hippie, I like Mac much more than the singer with the same surname. Bisping v...

I was just watching this and needed to put this up because I wanted people to see what really good sprawling looks like.http://www.spikedhumor.com-/articles/124274/Dan-Henderson--vs-Renzo-Gracie.htmlLike I always do on this blog, I keep telling people who practice BJJ- roll with wrestlers. They may not know the submissions, but they will tear you a new one when it comes to takedowns and takedown defense. The "duck under and shoot" method tends not to work with guys who spend most of the time training how to not have their backs on the ground.Train with aliveness, Train with variety.-y

UFC 82 Fight Results - Anderson Silva vs Dan Henderson and More…
2008-03-03 17:32:00
The official results of UFC 82 are in. Anderson Silva def. Dan Henderson via submission (rear-naked choke) — Round 2, 4:52 As predicted in my UFC betting prediction, Anderson Silva defeated Dan Henderson.  There’s no stopping this guy, the way he performed against Henderson was absolutely amazing.  The two came out, felt each other out showing total respect for each other’s skill.  For over a minute the two didn’t exchange and then Henderson threw a blow which lead to Silva throwing some kicks.  The two exchanged for a little bit and then continued to feel each other out.  Henderson took Silva down several times in the first round and proceeded to throw hammer fists to Anderson’s head.  In the second round Anderson seemed much more comfortable in the ring dancing around striking with high kicks and punch combinations.  Anderson landed a number of strikes bringing Henderson to the mat, he took Dan’s back, flattened him out, punches him with st...

The Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC as we know it. It's a bloody battle between men in the Octagon. It's the Championship between Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson. Now who won the Championship? The beginning of the fight totally sucked, since they weren't doing anything. Henderson attacked first, then Silva retaliates with kicks. Henderson was totally offensive in the first round and won it

When asked for a preview of tonight’s fight, Joe states that Dan Henderson and Anderson Silva are the two best 185lb MMA fighters in the world, no question. He goes on to say that both fighters are stacked and as for fight predictions, it’s truly a 50 / 50 fight, Anderson is one hell of a striker while Dan is an Olympic wrestler with Knock Out Power capable of knocking out Wanderlei Silva. Check out the video.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I'm excited for this card. I even watched the weigh-ins, which have always struck me as awkward and boring. They're like playing Candyland once you're over the age of 12; you're trying to convince yourself that it's fun and interesting, but you know in the back of your head that it's a waste of time and a terrible substitute for something interesting, like writing on a seldom seen blog. There are just so many potentially (read: not first round knockouts or lay-and-prays that go to decision) awesome fights, let's get to them:Gurgel v Halverson: Halverson's pretty impressive physically, especially for his age, but he doesn't really have a strength other than decent cardio. At the same time, Gurgel's been very disappointing in his previous few fights (2-2 I think). Like the presidential race, this one's tough to call because you end up picking the one you think will screw up less. Or at least you should, I'm picking Gurgel...via headbutt with th...

Dan Henderson Interview (Our Second)
2008-02-05 03:23:00
With his UFC 82 showdown against the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world just a few short weeks away, Dan Henderson sat down with Ben Zeidler for their second interview in as many months.Ben Zeidler: What made you consider the drop to 185?Dan Henderson: Well, I was a little bit hesitant at first, but the more I thought about it and the more I talked to Dana, I realized how excited I was for this fight. Dana wanted me to drop down for a while too so it made sense. Anderson Silva is a big challenge for me and these are the kind of fights I like to take.Ben Zeidler: Win or lose, do you think you would ever go back up to 205?Dan Henderson: I'll be staying at 185 for a while but I definitely have plans to go back to 205 at some point in my career.Ben Zeidler: The Rampage fight was a close one, and many still have you ranked #2 at 205. What would you do differently if you got another shot at that title?Dan Henderson: I would definitely be a little more aggressive on my feet and on ...

Chris Leben’s Next Fight… UFC 82 Dan Henderson vs Anderson Silva Fight
2008-01-28 22:41:00
Coming off of a sweet victory over Terry Martin at Ultimate Fight Night 11, Chris Leben is getting ready to face off with Alessio Sakara at UFC 82.  The event will take place on March 1, 2008 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus Ohio, the same night that Anderson Silva will take on Dan Henderson for the UFC Middleweight championship.  Henderson’s coming off of a loss in which he had a light heavyweight title shot against Quinton Rampage Jackson.  Henderson didn’t get the Light Heavyweight Belt, now he’s getting a shot at the light heavyweight belt?  How does that work?  Shouldn’t there be some fights in between?  I guess that Henderson’s performance against Rampage, which was a very close fight all the way, is enough to give him that shot for the middleweight belt.  Although in my opinion, Anderson Silva is going to be a tougher battle for Henderson.
Dan Henderson To Stay At Middleweight
2008-01-02 08:06:00
In a short phone conversation last night, PRIDE FC Welterweight Champion Dan Henderson told IWF's Ben Zeidler that no matter whether he wins or loses in his UFC 82 bout with Anderson Silva, he will remain at Middleweight for "quite some time."Many felt that if Henderson lost, he would surely leave the UFC's Middleweight ranks, for which he previously expressed displeasure. But after talking with Dana White and considering the division on his own, he decided to make the jump.If he wins, the belt, Henderson would obviously stay in the lower weight division in order to defend his new crown. The new news is that even if he loses, he will stay around 185 in order to challenge the best that the division has to offer -- and hopefully get a second crack at Silva.
UFC 82 Location Revealed
2007-12-27 05:53:00
At least PRIDE's 185 pound champion Dan Henderson won't have to suffer losing both his belts in the same calendar year. He'll get to do it early next year against Anderson Silva. Think it can't get worse for Hollywood? Think again. He gets the displeasure of taking on The Spider in what has become his personal home field -- Columbus, Ohio. Not much to say here. The bout we all knew was going to take place still is, but it's in the place where Anderson Silva dominated hometown hero Rich Franklin. TWICE. If the crowd wasn't enough to boost their hometown favorite, Dan Henderson has no chance. Silva is only a -145 favorite right now, but expect that number to read -200 before the bell rings.

The best thing that came out of UFC 78....Dana White announced Anderson Silva will fight Dan Henderson at UFC 82, currently scheduled for March 1, 2008 in Ohio. Most of the MMA community saw this as the best possible challenge to Silva's reign over the thin Middleweight division, but up until this announcement, Dan Henderson didn't seem to agree. Dana has once again shown a fighter the green light...God bless him.You wanna make a bet....
Henderson To Challenge A. Silva At UFC 82
2007-11-20 01:24:00
Ben Zeidler: Do you have any plans to capture the UFC MW belt or do you prefer to fight at 205 lbs now?Dan Henderson: I think it's up to me. The thing that I'm focused on right now is winning this fight, nothing else, whatever happens after that you know, happens. With the announcement of Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson booked for UFC 82, it appears that the biggest Middleweight bout in UFC history is about to happen.MMA Junkie is reporting that Silva vs. Henderson was announced during the UFC 78 press conference:Light heavyweight Dan Henderson will move down to 185 pounds to challenge UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (20-4 MMA, 5-0 UFC) in March. Dan Henderson Might Fight at UFC 79 - 30 Oct 2007 02:31:27am
2007-10-30 03:31:00
By MMA Junkie Dan Henderson, who most recently lost a unanimous decision to UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson in September, may return to the octagon Dec. 29 at UFC 79. The news come from Bubba The Love Sponge, who recently spoke to Henderson in Las Vegas. The Sirius Satellite Radio host mentioned the encounter during today?s episode of his show, and the news also appeared on the show?s official website, BTLS.com. (MMAjunkie.com is a content-partner site of BTLS.com.) According to Bubba, Henderson wouldn?t name his possible opponent but did mention that he may be dropping to 185 pounds for the fight. That?s actually news itself. In a post-UFC 77 press conference earlier this month, UFC President Dana White said he wants Henderson to drop to middleweight but that the fighter seemed opposed to the idea. (Continue Reading)
Dave Grubnic Gets Tough With Dan Henderson - 24 Oct 2007 03:53:33am
2007-10-24 05:53:00
Native Australian Dave Grubnic and his Kalitta Motorsports Top Fuel team will have some extra, if not intimidating, incentive to do well at this weekend?s, Oct. 25-28, annual running of the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. World-renowned mixed-martial arts champion Dan Henderson will represent Endothil-CR and Oxydrene at the event in Las Vegas, Oct. 27-28, 2007 and will join ?Aussie? Dave and his team at ?The Strip? during that time. Henderson owns more major tournament titles than any other athlete in MMA history. The reigning PRIDE Welterweight world champion and two-time Olympian, Henderson, 37, made MMA history on February 24, 2007, when he knocked out Wanderlei Silva to claim the Middleweight world title. Henderson is the first athlete in major MMA competition history to hold two weight-division crowns simultaneously. Grubnic will drive the 7,000+ horsepower Endothil-CR/Oxydrene Top Fuel dragster during Saturday and Sunday?s rac...
Dan Henderson muestra su malestar con UFC
2007-10-16 22:01:00
It?s not the fight that I?d ask for. Beating Tito won?t get me a rematch (with light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson). I don?t think he?s top five (in the 205-lb. division). I?d have to beat at least a top three guy to get the rematch.?Henderson tambin comenta que algunos luchadores no estaban contentos por que UFC...
Ortiz And Henderson Not Official; Tito To Wait Till 08
2007-10-11 19:51:00
Despite having his expected rematch taken away from him, Tito Ortiz has not been booked in a match with Dan Henderson, contradictory to a TAGG Radio report from earlier this week. It appears the The Huntington Beach Bad Boy will wait until 2008 to fight again.Contract troubles are the culprit again in preventing fans around the world from watching Ortiz lose (or tie) once more. The best fight for Ortiz would have been a rematch with Evans, which he would've had a legitimate shot of winning. When the contract couldn't get done, Ortiz was bumped to Henderson, a match which he would clearly lose. When Ortiz finally fights again in 2008, one of two things can happen. It is possible that Ortiz would get stuck with Hendo, Wanderlei, or a myriad of other guys who would humiliate him. Or, he might get an opponent he can beat, but the fans will be so disinterested in his persona and generally boring fights that he'll be relegated to mid-card status. Either way, Ortiz is headedtowards...
Round Robin Leaves Hamill In The Dust
2007-10-10 07:32:00
With Michael Bisping booked against Tito Ortiz's expect opponent (Rashad Evans), and Ortiz being put up against Dan Henderson, Matt Hamill has been left out to dry, with no opponent and no rematch against the man whom he beat.Apparently, Dana White and Joe Silva are making a conscious effort to let the past be the past and have since booked Bisping and Evans in a match up of TUF winners. The winner will most likely get the UFC "future stamp of approval," setting them up to be the unofficial #2 or #3 contender.Rather than bother Ortiz with another fight against Evans, he'll face Dan Henderson, which will either resurrect his career...or end it. Similar to Liddell's potential bout with Silva, this is a chance for the two vets to put up or shut up. And for Hendo (and Silva) it's a chance to prove they belong in the world's premier fighting organization.Meanwhile, the man who actually won a fight in the last three months (something Bisping, Evans, and Ortiz can't say) is stuck ...

2007-09-09 06:03:00
UFC 75 had very entertaining fights.Mirko CroCop failed to redeem himself against Cheick Kongo after his most recent loss to Gabriel Gonzaga. In the beginning of the match, CroCop kept Kongo backpedaling. This aggressive style seemed to work well and allowed him to totally neutralize Kongo. Amazingly, Mirko was able to put Kongo in a full mount and almost achieved an armbar in the skirmish. In the second round, however, Cheick Kongo came out on the attack and scored a takedown. He also demonstrated a pretty decent ground game. When the two rose again, Kongo landed some devastating knees to the body in the clinch. In the final round, Crocop got kneed in the groin, but Kongo was relentless. Consequently, Crocop was simply reacting to the onslaught instead of being the aggressor. To be honest, he looked very slow and it appears he has passed his prime. Nevertheless, he left us with some great memories.Later on the card, the fight between Michael Bisping and Matt Hamill was very...

Well I mentioned before that the fall was my busy time for work and this month is as thick as is gets. I wanted to appologize for not being able to keep my odds tables up to date or discuss any of the fights for tonights show. I'm home for the day but that's about it for the month of September. With little to no explanation here's my picks for UFC 75 and a couple of small bets.Henderson vs Jackson....I'm glad I get to see this one, and Randy Couture nailed it on the head when he said it depends on theses two individuals ability to fight their fights and not play to the strength of the other. I'm going with Jackson via TKO and I'm happy enough with the odds at Sportsbook (-115) to place a bet on this one.Bisping vs Hamill....I think Bisping's skill set will allow him to find the way to another victory via TKO as well. Again Sportsbook (-220) has all of the other books beat in terms of value here. This is my one other bet.My other picks for the night:Mirko Cro Cop... Odds way ...
