The influence that dancehall has right now is pretty hard to overstate with so many big tunes still using air-horns and vocal snippets for added hype. Even on a more subtle level though the bugged out percussion, synths and effects of club music and the moment seem to borrow heavily from Jamaican music. All this has been made blindingly obvious by last week's release of the Major Lazer album I know but hey, any excuse to post some heat right? This here selection represents my three favorite riddims all getting heavy play in my sets right now.     First up Timberlee and Ward 21 on Rae Riddim. Her voice always has such a sense of urgency to it, switching effortlessly between two perfectly contrasting styles. Rae Riddim is so minimal and bad ass with that saw tooth bass directed squarely at the dancefloor.          Timberlee & Ward 21 - Bubble Like Soap. Red Stripe recently revealed that it will not be sponsoring any live shows, and has therefore revealed that it has parted ways with live shows such as Reggae Sumfest and Sting. Platinum producer extraordinaire Don Corleon is back in the limelight, as the featured guest musician in the hit American television series, Girlicious. Donovan Bennett, known to the masses as Don Corleon, has been putting his indelible signature on the top sounds emanating from Jamaica to the world, and is best known for crafting chart-topping tunes for dancehall icons Sean Paul and Elephant Man, but that's just the beginning of his realm. Following a year-long investigation by the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA), the RCMP has shut down Audiomaxxx.com Ltd., a major alleged music counterfeiting operation in Winnipeg, and filed criminal charges against four individuals. Raj Singh Ramgotra, the principal behind Audiomaxxx, was among those arrested during the raid yesterday at the organization, it is alleged that over a period of three years Audiomaxx has manufactured and distributed pirated compact discs, hard core pornographic videos, and digital downloads worldwide. During the raid police seized an enormous volume of suspected counterfeit goods. This includes more than 200,000 music CDs and DVDs, numerous movie DVDs and hundreds of thousands of blank discs. Police also seized five CD/DVD burning towers, each with 12 burners, which together are capable of burning well in excess of 10,000 CDs and DVDs a day. By now a lot of people are familiar with the Jamaican/Canadian who created quite a buzz in 2007 with the release of her very controversial hit, “kum outâ€. Jamaican judge, Owen Parkins yesterday issue a warrant for Dancehall artist beenie Man arrest for failure to appear in court on Monday. Beenie man was to appear in court to answer charges of tax evasion and to explain to the court how he planned to settle his decade-old debt at his missed hearing. "I am surprised that he has not appeared before me," Judge Owen Parkins said before issuing the warrant. "This case is well publicized and he should have been in court. No one is above the law." According to the government, the dancehall artist owes the Jamaican revenue department US$415,000 and a further US$246,000 in penalties. Where was Beenie Man, and Is he really broke? Dancehall Artist QQ Placed in Protective Custody

The letter suggested that QQ had been verbally abused Dancehall artist Kareem 'QQ' Dawkins, will be in the custody of a neutral party while his parents follow a court order to attend professional counselling. A Family Court judge on October 18th, awarded his parents joint custody of the child star, but said they will have to attend counselling. When the counselling is complete, the parents will return to court for the judge to make an assessment and determine which parent 13-year-old QQ should live with. At the court sitting, it was also determined that his father, GQ will continue to manage QQ's career.
