2008-05-30 15:15:00
Today will mark the final day of the Broncos Quarterback Camp.  There won't be much time off, however, as the team gets right back to work next week.  AS a reminder, here are the important dates remaining for the Broncos this "Re-Loading Season" -- Team camp: June 2-6; June 9-13 (tentative). * Minicamp: July 7-8. * Training camp: Players report July 24. Much of the news yesterday happened off the field as the Darrent Williams Teen Center was officially opened during a ceremony that was attended by Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen, Head Coach Mike Shanahan, Rosalind Williams, Darrent's mother and 30-40 Broncos players. PHOTO COURTESY It was a moving day, complete with 27 Orange and Blue colored balloons being released into the bright-blue Denver sky and speeches from dignitaries and Broncos staff alike. I could grab all the quotes, talk about all that was said, but feel it would do the whole thing a disservice. There are two quotes I feel deserve mention, one from Darren...

At 5 foot 9 5/8 inches tall and weighing in at all of 184 pounds, Eddie Royal has been picked on for being undersized and too short to compete as a receiver in the NFL. There have been several draft ‘experts’ that have claimed Shanahan really reached for Royal with our 2nd round pick ...

Interesting Article Connected With Darrent Williams Murder
2008-03-06 18:02:00
Here's an article that I missed in Horse Tracks, but you should read it....See here An attorney for one of the men indicted in a massive federal drug bust says the charges should be dropped because prosecutors connected him to other crimes - including the murder of Denver Broncos player Darrent Williams - when they presented the case to the grand jury. Willie Clark, 24, was indicted last year on one count of conspiracy to distribute drugs. Prosecutors claim Clark is a gang member who worked with a violent group, the Elite Eight. The group is connected to up to 11 unsolved murders, including Williams' New Years Day 2007 killing, authorities have said. In court documents, Clark's attorney said Denver police consider Clark one of three suspects in the Williams murder. Clark denies he was involved and has pleaded not guilty to the drug charge. Clark's attorney, Alaurice Tafoya-Modi, argued in a court filing Wednesday that prosecutors prejudiced the grand jury against Clark whe...
Remembering Darrent Williams, One Year Later
2008-01-01 18:23:00
It’s hard to believe that it’s been one year since the news broke that Darrent Williams was shot and killed.  A year later, it’s still difficult to wrap my head around that fact.  And it’s still hard to come to terms with the tragedy. I’m still overwhelmingly sad whenever I think of Williams’ smile or frohawk.  ...

2007-09-18 13:56:00
I am taking this right from Andrew Mason's Blog, which, due to the cause involved is the right thing to do.  Anything you may be able to do for this incredible cause would be great, and the items available at the auction are truly one of a kind. But you don't have to be there at the club to make a difference. From 5 a.m. Tuesday morning through 5 p.m. Thursday, a charity auction will take place at positiveplacedenver.org, where the items up for bid included an autographed copy of Jim Saccomano's book Game of My Life, a pair of sideline passes for Sunday's game against Jacksonville and footballs autographed by Williams. Once again, you can find the auction over at PostivePlaceDenver.org.
Broncos Announce Darrent Williams Teen Center Legacy Project
2007-09-10 21:44:00
The Denver Broncos announced Monday that the organization will collaborate with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver on a long-term legacy project to honor the memory of Darrent Williams. The Darrent Williams Memorial Teen Center will open in early 2008 as an expansion to the Denver Broncos Boys and Girls Club in Montbello and serve significantly more children in need. An important part of this legacy effort is the creation of a 7-foot, life-size bronze of Darrent Williams sculpted by world renowned artist Ed Dwight and generously funded by community members Doug Morton and his wife, Marilyn Brown. "My wife Marilyn and I are thrilled to support the new DWMTC with this sculpture," Morton said. "Reverend Leon Kelly of Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives has led us to understand the importance of helping children learn how to improve their lives through programs available to them." As the sculpture is created over the next four months, Dwight will involve a group of teens from the ne...

I think Matt Mosley - ESPN’s main NFL blogger - ...

The blood-stained shirt remains unwashed...Javon Walker will appear on HBO's Real Sports on Tuesday Night, speaking for the first and only time, about the night Darrent Williams died in his arms.  ESPN.com has seen the interview, condcted by Andreea Kramer, and released some of it contents -- Denver Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker says he still has the bloodied shirt from the night teammate Darrent Williams died in his arms in a drive-by shooting on New Year's Day. In his first public comments about Williams' unsolved death, Walker tells HBO's "Real Sports" in a segment to be aired Tuesday night that he keeps the unlaundered shirt as a reminder of his friend and of the fragility of life. Interviewer Andrea Kremer asks Walker about showing up to Broncos headquarters about 10 hours after Williams' slaying while still wearing his bloodstained clothes. "I still have those clothes," Walker replied. Asked why he hadn't washed them, he said, "It's just something that reminds...

2007-06-22 20:00:00
There will be much talk in the weeks to come about what the Broncos plan to do to remember their fallen teammates as we close in on the start of the 2007 season.  While we still don't know everything the Broncos might do on the field the team made a major announcement regarding how it plans to remember Darrent Williams off of it. "They could have asked for a sound system, a pool table or whatever but I told them they needed to dream big," said Rich Barrows, branch director at the Denver Broncos Boys and Girls Club. "They said they needed their own space. They shot the video and actually w...
Darrent Williams, 1982-2007
2007-02-24 16:28:06
One of my New Year's resolutions was to start making regular posts on our silly little site.  When I woke up on New Year's Day, I knew I'd have to go ahead and do the toughest one of the year just one day into it. As we've all heard by now, Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed outside a nightclub early Monday morning.  Williams had just wrapped up his second season in the NFL hours before.  From what I read of Darrent, he was a decent human being.  Very respectful and laid-back, he was a guy the other fellas in the locker room wanted there.  All I know about it him is what he's done on the field.  He had one of the toughest jobs in football; play the corner on the other side of Champ Bailey.  Darrent got picked on relentlessly over the past two seasons, because nobody wants to throw to Champ's side.  He was thrown into the starting lineup as a rookie last season, and showed quite a bit of impro...
