The Dogs opened up with three straight wins over BCS schools and were awarded the #8 ranking in the nation for doing so. David Carr had an amazing season as he threw for over 4000 yards and 45 td's leading the Bulldogs to an overall record of 11-3. Today it seems that regardless of how good or bad our teams are we continually compare them to that 2001 team. The other day I wrote a blog on Tom Brandstater and how he has matured over the season. I wrote that I feel his development is ahead of where David Carr was at the same point in his Junior season. I am quite sure many of you do not feel the same way as I do so I decided to use opposing team's record, common stats, and team schedules to try and further prove that Tom Brandstater is right where we need him to be at this point in his career. "It's a case where we were obviously looking for someone to come in back up Jake and the opportunity to get a quarterback the caliber of David in free agency is unique," Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said. 2007-03-22 18:18:00 Showing a remarkable (remarkably foolish or prescient is the question) amount of faith in a man who has started all of 2 regular season NFL games, the Houston Texans completed their trade for erstwhile Falcons backup Matt Schaub by signing him to a 6 year, $48 million deal to be the starter.The details of the contract only bind the Texans to the first three years of the contract at $20 million overall. But that's still quite a bit of faith in a QB that has limited real-time game experience. My initial thought was that the Texans overpaid for him and that may yet prove to be true. But I can understand the rationale. They're trying to lay a stable groundwork for their offense for years down the line and this contract is an indisputable statement that Schaub is the guy who they believe will provide them with that stability. They along with other media sources have suggested that the Vikings are very interested. Carr’s career in Houston has been interesting. Since 2002 he has had an overall quarterback rating of 75.0. While his numbers don’t seem overly impressive I believe that he has more talent than he’s been able to show. Since taking over the QB position he has not (until recently) been given the opportunity to give the ball to a playmaker. Couple that with the offensive line’s inability to pass block, I am not one bit surprised that his numbers look the way that they do. On the Vikings he would immediately inherit a above average offensive line, a workhorse runningback. Certainly none of the Vikings receivers can compare to Andre Johnson, the presence of a good line should improve his numbers immensely. I think that Carr could benefit the Vikings in several ways. Maybe a trip to Oakland or something, improve the fates of the Raiders and Carr himself. Sunday was a bad day for Carr who threw no less than 4 interceptions in a 40-7 mauling by the Patriots. Not only that but the chap was sacked 4 times during the game and now has more interceptions than he does scores for the season. You wish you had the answers, and if I did I would just go out there and find a way to win. I will never lose my confidence in what I can do.
