Posting under another name with another group of people for some other purpose kinda takes the pain away of being Lord Genocyde.Being Lord Genocyde is more painful than you might imagine. For starters, Lord Genocyde was created as a means of amplifying all that is going wrong with the world. Edgeio To Shut Down - In The DeadPool
2007-12-07 09:52:00 Edgeio, a company I co-founded in 2005, had a final board meeting this evening and made the decision to shut down operations of the company. We are putting it into the TechCrunch DeadPool. Edgieo first launched in February 2006 after a beta period. The company raised a small angel round of financing, then in October 2006 closed a $5 million Series A from Intel Capital and Transcosmos. The company burned through that money according to plan, meaning they ran out this month. The product roadmap was fulfilled, meaning development lags didn’t hurt the company. But the revenues didn’t come in and user/partner milestones weren’t met. And that meant no one else was going to put more money into the company. For the last few months CEO Keith Teare has been working on a number of plans to keep the company going, but none of them panned out. E*Trade is a granddaddy amongst online service providers, having been found in 1991 by TradePlus as a e-stock broking service for users of America Online and Compuserve. The company boomed during Web 1.0, and despite the downturn continued to thrive as more and more share owners moved away from traditional high priced broker services to low price online alternatives. NBBC Joins The Deadpool
2007-07-05 09:15:00 NBBC, a video aggregation service launched by NBC last September has joined the TechCrunch Deadpool. The remains of NBBC will be merged into the NBC/ News Corp joint venture first announced in March. The new service, dubbed Clown Co by some has long been discussed but to date is yet to appear. Strangely, News Corp recently launched MySpace TV, a YouTube competitor in its own right that will compete directly with the NBC/ News Corp joint venture. In an interview with MediaPost, George Kliavkoff, NBCU’s chief digital officer justified the closure of NBBC as a step towards strengthening the NBC/ News Corp joint venture : “we saw that “NewSite” could use NBBC’s resources, so last Friday afternoon we agreed to contribute it to the NewSite effort.” The closure of NBBC and the transfer of IP and talent does not extend to existing agreements.
