2009-11-20 19:06:00 @ShitMyDadSays has become one of the funniest accounts on Twitter and it's no wonder CBS is willing to gamble for its success with gems like the one below:Here are our picks for the next made-for-TV Twitterers. Who else should be on this list?...

The "deal" with Twitter, and why you don't want to miss this
2009-11-19 03:00:00 If you're reading this, it is quite likely that you are at least a novice Twitter user. But believe it or not, good Tweeters, there are still people who have not hopped on the social media bus. There are people who just "don't get" the point of the bus. In fact, there are people who think the whole idea of the bus is just plain stupid and frankly a waste of gas and carbon emissions. No I'm not actually talking about public transportation. (I'm a sucker for metaphors, sorry.) If you know someone who falls under one or all of the above descriptions, go grab them, e-mail this link, post it on their Facebook page, or print it out and...
Is Cutler trade next Herschel deal?
2009-11-18 19:01:00 The Bald TruthJay Cutler Trade: Good or Bad? If only the question were that simple.Anybody with an IQ between 1 and 1,000 - and I'm in there somewhere - knows it's far too early to try to assess this thing. Cutler has played nine games for the Bears and is signed through 2013, so he has only just begun dazzling and/or disappointing Bear Country. And the Broncos still aren't finished using the high draft picks they got in the deal.Besides, if history is any guide, our perception of the trade today is bound to evolve. As a Minneapolis sportswriter when the Vikings got Herschel Walker, I witnessed such changing perceptions firsthand....

Report: Sox, Pads, Angels Talking Three Way Deal Involving Konerko, Gonzale
2009-11-16 17:59:00 SoxNet.net has learned that the Chicago White Sox have had preliminary discussions with the Anaheim Angels and San Diego Padres on a potential 3 way deal which would involve Paul Konerko, Adrian Gonzalez, and Angel and White Sox prospects. SoxNet.net is not aware of the specifics of the trade (ie, names of prospects and exact details as to how many prospects, etc) but the discussions are built on the Sox sending Konerko and prospects in-return for Adrian Gonzalez. The Angels would receive Konerko with the Padres receiving a combination of Sox and Angel prospects....

Business As unUsual: I unexpectedly got offered a record deal yesterday
2009-11-12 09:57:00 If somebody would've told me when I woke up this morning that by 10pm I'd be negotiating I a record deal with international distribution, I would've accused them of being drunk. But it happened, and it was quite a sobering experience.
Crain's: State deal would avoid CTA fare hike
2009-11-11 01:33:00 Greg Hinz is reporting on his Crain's Chicago Business blog tonight that the state and CTA have struck a deal for enough additional operating cash to avoid fare hikes. However, the $90 million in service cuts would proceed. From the report:According to reliable sources, the deal involves the Regional Transportation Authority issuing bonds for capital projects that would be funneled to the CTA. That would allow the CTA to shift some federal capital funds into its cash-short operating budget, thereby avoiding the necessity to hike fares. As part of the deal, the state reportedly would help the CTA pay debt service on the RTA funds for at least a couple of years. Other monies would go to Pace, which has had trouble...
Deal set to avoid CTA fare hikes, insiders say
2009-11-11 01:09:00 Greg Hinz reports that transit officials and Gov. Pat Quinn have reached agreement on a deal that will avoid a threatened Chicago Transit Authority fare hike, both in 2010 and 2011.According to reliable sources, the deal involves the Regional Transportation Authority issuing bonds for capital projects that would be funneled to the CTA. That would allow the CTA to shift some federal capital funds into its cash-short operating budget, thereby avoiding the necessity to hike fares. As part of the deal, the state reportedly would help the CTA pay debt service on the RTA funds for at least a couple of years. Other monies would go to Pace, which has had trouble financing its para-transit operation....
Udder Covers: A Scam or a Deal? Maybe Neither
2009-11-10 06:05:00 It was brought to my attention that there are some complaints out there about the company behind Udder Covers, which I mentioned earlier today is offering a "free" $32 product for only the cost of shipping and handling. There are accusations in some message groups that the company selling the breastfeeding covers, Milk Bands, is a scam company and that people who have ordered from their Web site have seen unauthorized charges on their credit cards afterwards.

Travel Deal*: Free Lodging Anywhere You Go
2009-11-09 16:00:00 Other than flights, your hotel will be one of the biggest cost factors for your vacation. One great way to save money on your hotel is to try to Couchsurfing. The first reaction I get from many people when I tell them about Couchsurfing - a website that connects travelers with people willing to offer them a couch, a floor, or in many cases, a spare bedroom with comfortable queen-sized bed - is "No way. I would never let a stranger stay in my house." If that's your first thought....you can probably stop reading now. But if the idea of connecting with locals around the globe, getting a free place to stay, and in return offering help in your own...
Money Hack ? How to Deal with Debt Settlement Services!
2009-11-05 21:31:00 Frankly, I used to be very broke about 2 years ago when I was barely trying to be independent with my blogging business. Gladly, I never had to get a job after I got to a point where I was making enough money with blogging. Well, during those times, literally hundreds of debt resolution services ...
Jewel Catalina Deal: All This for About $4
2009-11-05 21:19:00 I slipped out to run a few errands including, of course, Jewel General Mills Catalina runs. I didn't find everything I wanted in stock, but I did end up getting 10 cans of soup, 3 boxes of Kleenex, 16 rolls of paper towels, 5 pounds of flour and two cans of frosting for about $4.
Jewel General Mills Catalina Deal: New Sale Prices, Scenarios and Coupons
2009-11-04 22:19:00 Thanks to the folks on Couponers Wanted, you can read the whole list of every single item included in the "buy $30, get $15 coupons" Catalina deal at Jewel-Osco right now. However, that list doesn't tell you the sale and Preferred Card prices for those items, which you need to put together transaction scenarios. Lucky for you, I did a little research today. First, I got the Jewel Wednesday insert, which has a full page of new Preferred prices for this deal on the back (which are supposed to start tomorrow but my Jewel had a lot of these sales already running today). Then, I stopped into my local store to look for some of the pre-card prices. Here are the ad items, with preferred prices, with pre-card price and coupon match if I have it. Note that some of the pre-card prices I saw on the tag myself, some are from the ad and some gathered elsewhere online; none are guaranteed so watch how they ring up.
Deal Report: $1 Meals at Boston Market
2009-10-28 04:10:00 Because there was no line at KFC last night, I kind of hoped that not that many people had heard about the Boston Market deal and that it would be dead. I planned to get there around 5 p.m. to beat any rush, but that didn't quite work out and I walked up to the store with my three kids (the hubs was working late) at 6:15 p.m. The line was actually starting to poke right out the door, into the rainy night. And it was not moving. I told the kids we'd have to go home for dinner and they absolutely flipped. Waterworks everywhere. I guess they were really looking forward to eating out.

Muvico deal at Block 37 in jeopardy
2009-10-27 20:58:00 A deal for a Muvico movie theater at Block 37 is in jeopardy after Bank of America Corp. "improperly" refused to approve revised lease terms for the upscale movie theater, according to the developer's response to the lender's foreclosure lawsuit. Chicago developer Joseph Freed & Associates LLC entities said in court filings Monday that B of A doesn't have the right to foreclose on the project or have a receiver put in charge of the downtown mall that's to open next month. Freed contends that the foreclosure lawsuit, filed Oct. 19 by Charlotte, N.C.-based B of A, came soon after the developer refused to sign a waiver of the bank's conduct with respect to the lease with Muvico -- the...
Tailgate: Ricketts Seal The Deal; Ozzie Ready For #$%&*!@ Series
2009-10-27 19:33:00 Finally! The Ricketts family closes the deal on the sale of the Cubs. Caveat emptor? White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen makes his debut tomorrow night as a World Series commentator on Fox. Is the network that gave us Married With Children and Family Guy ready for him? Is Kerry Wood vindicating Milton Bradley? The former Cubs pitcher says black teammates did, indeed, receive racist hate mail. Put down the beer and play cornhole for a REAL cause. To the people who were expecting great things from the Bears this season and are shocked by this past Sunday's debacle, the Gary Post-Tribune asks: What were you thinking? Elsewhere, the stock of two NFC personalities is falling fast. Guess what they have...

2009-10-27 14:45:00 Drewski2112 via Flickr I'm a huge fan of Southwest Airlines. I like the 'no assigned seating' policy. Content Sharing Deal Between Facebook And MySpace – Can They Make It
2009-10-27 13:31:00 Just in the morning, we covered as to how Google stopped the migration of email-id’s from Orkut to Facebook by excluding the email-id’s from the CSV file, in order to preserve the privacy of their consumers. All that meant was that Google doesn’t want its users to go away with Orkut completely. As the statistics speak for themselves, Orkut isn’t doing any good recently and Facebook is on a high. With Orkut trying to block Facebook in every possible way to emerge as the best social networking site, it has become difficult for MySpace to compete in an already tough market. Amidst such circumstances, Facebook and MySpace found a new way to handle things. It has been reported that Facebook is in talks with MySpace in a content partnership deal. Now, this is simply big. If the deal works out fine, it could just be the end of Orkut. From the Facebook’s point of view, Twitter has been a big big problem for them and with the search engine giants – Google...

General Mills Catalina Deal: $9.50 Proft on 78 Grocery Items
2009-10-24 06:36:00 I made a $9.50 profit buying 78 grocery items by taking advantage of little known tricks to the Catalina deals run at Jewel-Osco. The tricks include maximizing the spread between the item's pre-card price and the sale price, as well as using as many coupons as possible.
Travel Deal of the Week: Half Off Flights to Poland!
2009-10-23 14:00:00 Krakow (Smif via Flickr) I already posted some great flight deals from Chicago yesterday, but in my opinion, there's so no such thing as too many cheap flights. So here's another deal, and this one is pretty amazing. For the next 40 or so hours, all flights on Polish carrier LOT Airlines are half off. Yes, half off. All flights. Flights to destinations in Poland, like Warsaw and Krakow, are half off. Flights to Amsterdam, Prague, Zurich, Moscow, Munich, and every other destination the airline flies are all half off. Base prices are shockingly low - around $300 round trip - but of course the taxes and fees will add up. Most flights that I checked came out to...
Travel Deal of the Week: Last Minute Cheap Flights in November
2009-10-22 20:00:00 It's the end of the year, and if you are like many of my co-workers, you have a pretty big stash of vacation time left over. November is the time to use it, particularly if you are looking at international destinations. Not many people travel in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving or in the time between that holiday and Christmas, which means its fairly easy to find a great deal. For instance, in two weeks, flights on Spirit Airlines from Chicago to Honduras are just $350 per person (they are closer to $700 each in spring). Flights from Chicago to Tokyo on US Airways are just $638 (they go up to $1600 the following week!). Flights to Istanbul are...
The Art of the Deal: Negotiating Prices at The Longest Yard Sale
2009-10-12 04:16:00 Anybody catch the Endless Yard Sale on HGTV last night? Kinda hoaky, but combine a yard sale with a room makeover and a little reality tv and I'll watch any day. The sale stretches from Ohio to Alabama each year in early August. Dealers and regular folks pull up U-Hauls and portable tents to hawk their wares along HIghway 127....

New Joint Juice Coupon for Moneymaking Catalina Deal
2009-10-07 06:00:00 If you are doing the Joint Juice Catalina deal at Safeway and other stores, here is a fresh buy one, get one free coupon that you can print twice per computer. The company just emailed it to me because I signed up to get the initial coupon earlier. This Catalina deal is supposed to run through Oct. 18 at Dominick's, and the scuttlebutt is that it is also running at Jewel. However I could not find any Joint Juice at my Jewel. I didn't know if I should look with beverages or in the pharmacy. Anyone else have any luck finding this stuff at Jewel and getting the Catalina coupons? If you buy 7 bottles you are supposed to get...
Great Deal on Pampers at Toys R Us
2009-10-07 05:46:00 Buying diapers at Toys R Us is usually a pretty good deal to begin with -- as long as you don't bring your kids and get suckered into buying a bunch of toys as you make your way aaaall the way to the back wall of the store where they conveniently keep the diapers. But on Saturday and possibly through Monday you can get a better deal than usual: Buy 2 boxes Pampers (92 count or larger) and get a $15 Toys R Us or Babies R Us gift card. Now, there was a store coupon for $5 off when you buy a "value box" in the Sunday Toys R Us flyer, which you should be able to pick up...
Come on Edmonton - "Suite-n" up the deal
2009-10-02 00:53:00 I own several properties and currently provide some affordable housing. I'd like the opportunity to provide more affordable housing by suiting some of my properties.I tried to apply for a grant to put a suite into a property of mine but was summarily rejected because I am not an owner-occupant.Why? Why? Why?Our friend Tim summed it up nicely. People don't want their neighborhoods getting messed up with a bunch of rental properties with suites. Really who can more effectively manage suites a landlord with experience or a home-owner who will give it a shot and then learn the hard way about tenant issues?Chances are the investor/landlord with 10-20-30-40 homes has more skill in operating a rental that an owner-occupier. This also paves the way for better communication and less disputes between lower income tenants and owners. The grant should be expanded to allow owners who don't reside in the prospective houses a chance to "suite"up. We can avoid tent-city as a greater amount of af...

Webb Not Interested In Restructured Deal
2009-09-22 22:49:00 We've seen speculation that the Diamondbacks could decline Brandon Webb's $8.5MM club option in hopes of negotiating a more favorable deal, as risky as that sounds. Given the $2MM buyout, it's a net of just $6.5MM for the D'Backs in 2010. Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic spoke to Webb today, and the pitcher said he is not interested in a restructured deal. If the Diamondbacks decline the option, Webb will hit the open market. Talking to Scott Bordow of the East Valley Tribune, Webb referenced John Smoltz's $5.5MM guarantee, noting that "he's got a little bit of age on me and my surgery wasn't even close to his." Webb's preference is still for the D'Backs to pick up the 2010 option. Despite what's been written I'd be surprised if they don't.

2009-09-22 03:51:00 Kevin Millwood needed to break out of a pitching slump just as Texas needed to shake free from an offensive meltdown. Why Do The Girls Always Get The Crappy End Of The Deal?
2009-09-17 12:17:00 I was helping R. get ready for school the other day. She was tired and not very motivated. I grabbed her clothes and told her I would help her get dressed."Why are you getting me dressed?" She asked."Well, you seem to need a little help this morning."She began to wiggle and be less than cooperative as I tried to put her dress over her head."C'mon R.! Mommy's getting too old for this!"She giggled."That's funny?" I giggled back. "Will you let me come live with you when I'm really old?""Yes, mommy!!""You might have to help ME get dressed." I said."I will!"Suddenly I heard T. shout from his bedroom, "Mom, you can come live with me!""Awwwww!" I thought to myself. My boy loves his mama!"Really, T.? I can? You'll take care of me? Make me dinner? Take me to doctor's appointments? Help me find my teeth?"He laughed and said, "YES!!""You'll even change my diaper?"Silence."You know what? You can go live with R."

RCom Inching Closer To Seal M-commerce Deal With Atom
2009-09-16 14:27:00 M-Commerce has been the buzzword off-late. The Mobi-payment companies are bringing innovations in facilitating m-commerce in India. Business Standard reports that Reliance Communication may be inching closer towards finalizing m-commerce deal with Atom technologies, a group company of Financial Technologies. The deal seems significant for RCom as BS also reports citing company sources that the telco may very well be looking at earning revenues of Rs.800 crores in the next 3 years. The future course of plans by RCom is to provide inter-operable payment platform to facilitate various sorts of transaction on all its telecom services i.e. including GSM & CDMA. Atom Technologies currently is in forefront for mobi-payment services revolution in India. For Telecom companies like RCom it makes sense to go for such tie-ups as enabling m-commerce on its plethora of services would help it to leverage its core strength. Atom will offer RCom multiple banks (Indian and foreign...

Google Wins Case To Patent Homepage Design – What Was The Big Deal Ab
2009-09-04 05:42:00 If you thought you can kick start your HTML lessons by copying Google’s simple homepage on your website, beware that your website could be sued! As ridiculous as it sounds, Google has won a five and a half year battle to patent its simple and elegant looking homepage. Why would Google do such a thing? That is because the design is indeed iconic. Look at the other search engines of today: Ask, Yahoo Search, Bing, Twitter Search, etc. and compare this with how search engines like Ask Jeeves, AltaVista and Yahoo Search looked before Google was born! The clean search page, though it looks like a selfless service at first thought is more profitable than cluttered search pages. A cluttered search page (with links to entertainment, movies, etc. ) is going to take the users away to these pages where they might convert not well enough since it could be more of curiosity clicks rather than a need. On the other hand, a simple search box is going to first assess what the visitor is looki...

Cubs on-air deal: What hath Ricketts bought?
2009-08-28 16:10:00 One of the many speed bumps in the Cubs sale process was a negotiation over broadcast rights. The Cubs are an enormous draw, even when they suck (or should we say, even though they suck--101 years and all), and Tribune didn't want to give up its highly lucrative deal to air their games on its WGN-TV and radio stations. Ricketts presumably wanted Tribune to pay up for that. Ultimately the two sides agreed to keep the Cubs on WGN through 2022--with some games still running on Comcast SportsNet (which the Cubs, and now Mr. Ricketts, own part of). There must be more to it than that. Ed Sherman breaks it down....
Photos: How the Wright Brothers Landed an Army Deal
2009-08-28 15:19:00 From CNET News.com: In the first few years after their landmark flight in 1903, the Wright Brothers still had a great deal of work to do. They tinkered with their design, made more test flights, and began to show off their aircraft in public. Soon enough, the U.S. government got in
[Best-Buy]Best deal for a GPS device
2009-08-24 05:06:00 The words when, where and how would normally elicit a flurry of words in purported Greek, from by standers, not to mention the incoherent gesticulations .The same when and where when flushed into the toilet of a map would throw out a lot more words and sounds along with a mulling head ache alongside an excessive eye strain. Its then that Mr. technology decided to grab some spinach and went on to carve out a solution in the name of GPS to combat the "when and where questions?, in our second to second lives. Yes! Global positioning system as it is uncommonly known assumes the expansion of the omniscient GPS. GPS enabled devices is catching solid ground in the drool widgets section as people seem to long for the ?never say lost? motto. GPS apart from moving on to deprecate the asking around, map gawking or going round in circles, does contribute towards a self sufficient scenario and does add on to the benefit of society. Now with the technology extant, getting this technology to amalg...

Kane will take a plea deal, but cabbie wants a personal apology
2009-08-18 15:58:00 The Buffalo News is reporting Tuesday morning that, according to law enforcement officials, the Blackhawks' Patrick Kane is expected to agree to a plea deal in the next few days after he and his cousin, James, are indicted on a misdemeanor criminal charge. The speculation is that the Kanes would plead guilty to something such as harassment or disorderly conduct. Or they might be granted an adjournment, the newspaper said, that could have the charges eventually dropped altogether if Kane doesn't get himself in more legal trouble in the next six months.Cabbie Jan Radecki wants Kane to apologize directly to him, said Radecki's lawyer, Andrew C. LoTiempo. The Kanes were charged with robbery and criminal mischief after an altercation with Radecki...
My Kraft Deal Transaction: Mistakes Were Made
