Death By Chocolate Contest: Nutella Creams and Chocolate Macarons
2008-02-05 04:43:00 I feel a little bit strange coming here and telling you that I, too, have entered the Death by Chocolate Contest held by the great folks from Culinate. I feel even stranger asking people to vote for me or give me their approval but posting about chocolate is an offer I can't refuse! With time being a precious commodity while my mother is visiting I am really thankful that the rules allow bloggers to post past entries.I was excited to enter just for the theme....and then they told us the prizes on hand if we won: one food blogger and one reader will be sent on a trip for two to Napa Valley and will attend the Copia Center?s annual Death by Chocolate Festival on Feburary 23, 2008. Talk about generosity! The winner among readers will be chosen at random from all entries. Readers will vote for their favorite blog posts, and the winning food blogger will be selected by a panel of judges from the top 10 reader favorites. The entries I have seen so far are absolutely mouth watering. Will I...

Love and Death by Chocolate
2008-02-04 02:43:00 Love and death: a weighty theme for this little food blog of mine, isn’t it? Don’t worry, I promise it will lead to a recipe.Love and death are a popular and enduring pair: amongst their many appearances are their unbilled star turn in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, in Sara Teasdale’s poetry of the early 1900’s, and in indie rock from the early 2000’s (in particular, on the debut album of one of my favorite bands, The Stills). It’s fairly easy to see how these two are linked; some people will do anything for love (just look at what Juliet did).So what do love and death have to do with food?Let me digress first by pointing out that Valentine’s Day is coming up soon. Every year at this time, we are, without fail, assaulted by a barrage of all things pink, red, heart-shaped, and chocolate; combinations thereof range from the drugstore variety to the haute, because apparently any combination of pink+hearts+chocolate = love. I tend to hate Valentine’s Day because of it...
Death by Chocolate
2008-02-01 16:17:00 There is only one item that brings joy, happiness and ecstasy. Chocolate! We all want it, crave it, worship it and are addicted to it. Fine - maybe not all - but most of us are. I... [Read the rest of this post on my website]
Death By Chocolate Contest
2008-01-31 05:37:00 A few days ago on Kettle & Cup I wrote a recipe for a chocolate & earl grey terrine I had come up with. It is awesome. Well, if it wins this contest Marc and I will be headed to Napa, and chocolate…and a weekend AWAY. If you want to just vote for me ...

SIA - Death By Chocolate lyrics
2008-01-05 04:50:00 Death by chocolate is myth This I know because I lived I’ve been around for broken hearts and how Lay your head in my hands little girl This is only right now Death by crying doesn’t exist, though The headaches feel a bit like it You might explode But you reach the end of the road And you, little tree I’m certain you will grow Tears on your pillow will dry and you will learn Just how to love again Oh my weeping willow Let your leaves fall and return Oh darling the seasons are your friend Death by anger this is true Just let him go he can’t hurt you Oh little girl this is such a cruel cruel world This is the first, of a million broken hearts Tears on your pillow will dry and you will learn Just how to love again Oh my weeping willow Let your leaves fall and return Oh darling the seasons are your friend Oh it won’t be long you will grow strong Up up and away He’s but a falling leaf, he’s but a falling leaf, he’s but a falling leaf

Death by Chocolate
2007-11-29 14:22:00 By the time Christmas is over, I'd have totally sworn off chocolates for the rest of my time on earth; La Femme just spent $200 on chocolates from Royce, and I'm pretty sure not all of the boxes are going to be given out as presents. And if you've opened the link to the online shop of Royce, it doesn't matter if you don't understand Japanese-- just click around, add to the shopping cart, key in the Visa or Mastercard number, click "confirm", and Bob's your uncle. For now, I find myself staring at the chocolate packages and hopefully, we find more people to receive them as gifts. Goodness, I can't imagine the prospect of having chocolates every other minute of the days leading up to Christmas and New Year's Day!***Incidentally, I'm beginning to think there's some truth to chocolates, especially dark chocolates (think Belgian), being aphrodisiacs for women... like men shuckling down oysters, I guess. Firstly, I haven't met any woman who would turn down an offer of chocolates,...
