2008-02-25 15:27:00 I picked up two new Death Note books at Books-A-Million Saturday afternoon. One of them is Volume 13, called “How to Read”. It’s a book with in-depth character bios and highlights of the events during the Kira case. I’m excited about reading it, but I’m afraid I cannot read it now–as it contains spoilers. Apparently, it’s why it’s the “13th edition”, out of 12 volumes of the graphic novels (in order), though it just reveals secrets of the story. At the time of writing this, I am now at Chapter 100–which means 8 more chapters to go until the Grand Finale! I flew through a few pages of the book to find a couple of things I didn’t want to know about at the moment. Fortunately, I still don’t know L/Ryuuzaki’s true name. 2008-02-15 02:36:00 The latest installment in the Live Action Death Note movie franchise was released on February 9th, entitled “L, Change the WorLd”. It is the long awaited spin-off featuring the world famous detective, L. Kenichi Matsuyama, who played L in the first two Death Note movies, reprises his role as the mysterious detective. The movie takes place in Los Angeles during L/Ryuuzaki’s “crucial days”. I’m not sure if that’s before or after the start of the Kira case. I’m not going to explain as I may spoil it for some people. I have yet to witness the last few chapters of the manga or last few episodes of the anime, but this movie should be safe for those who have read through half of the series, leading up to the second part of the story a few years after the start of the Kira case. I really should finish Death Note. I’ve mentioned it time and time again, that I suddenly lost interest in it. It’s mostly because of the turn of events going on in the chapter I’m on. The last time I read the manga, I was at the part where Near, aka “N”, was preparing to go to Japan to wrap of the Kira case. I was very close to that part in the anime. This is a horrible way to murder someone, especially since the anime premiers on Adult Swim this Saturday. This story is a couple of weeks old, but as soon as the anime is on the air, and with the movie getting a UK premier, this would give people a reason to say anime [and manga] is a bad thing.

2007-09-22 01:33:00 Death Note is getting ready for a very optimistic US debut. [adult swim] has announced on their message boards that Death Note is set to air on October 20th, 2007. This is confirmed after a mystery show was blacked out on their online schedule. As for the Death Note movies, many will get to see it in US theaters real soon. Viz Pictures has licensed the live action movie, including the sequel, "The Last Name". The movie is scheduled to air during the Austin Fantastic Fest 2007 in Austin, Texas. This is a very good start for Death Note in the US, especially (and ironically) before Halloween.
