Chart Watch - December 14, 2007
2007-12-16 21:44:00 Our weekly recap of classic artists on the current music charts. Chart highlights:Let's face it. The American charts right now are just plain boring. There are no new singles or albums and the old ones are just kind of hanging around in the same general area. The British charts, on the other hand, are a different thing. We've expanded coverage starting this week with the full top 100 singles and albums and there are a few surprises. First and foremost is the return to the charts of Ernie K-Doe. An obscure track, Here Come the Girls, moves up to number 43 this week in the U.K. on the strength of the exposure it has received from an advertisement for Boots. Also all over the British singles chart are Christmas hits from the likes of the Pogues, Slade, Andy Williams, Chris Rea and Perry Como. Because the British charts are calculated different from the American (where there are separate charts for older songs or recurrents), older records can re-chart based on airplay, single sa...

2007-12-14 15:26:00 WoW, Casually: December 14 to 20 and Feast of Winter VeilFiled under: Events, PvP, WoW, Casually, Battlegrounds Each week, Robin Torres writes WoW, Casually for the player who has 2 hours or less to play at a time. The weather outside may be frightful, but the Feast of Winter Veil begins Saturday which is always delightful. Well, the weather isn't frightful where I live, but I used to live where there are those season-things, so I feel for you in my high 60s and sunny. Really, I do.Of course, the seasons don't change in Azeroth either, but the weekly Call to Arms bonus weekends do. This week it's Eye of the Storm. My EotS tip for this week is: let the Wookiee win. Er, let the Droods run with the flag. Otherwise, they're going to spend all their time whining in BG chat about how slow Ghostwolf form is, etc. Seriously, life's too short to listen to all that bellyaching -- though I suppose there's not much else to whine about in EotS. I mean, this is a Battleground where standing ...

2006-12-19 16:49:00 Will Frederick Kagan's December 14, 2006, "Choosing Victory: A Plan for Success in Iraq" be the option that President Bush pursues? If so, should we support it? And most importantly, will it work?KJW: I am frequently asked by my conservative friend, EJS, whether I want us to win in Iraq. I usually hesitate when he asks me that question. Of course he interprets that to mean that I don't want us to win. In fact, the reason that I hesitate is that I have not seen any indication that the course being followed by the Bush administration could conceivable lead to any form of "victory". The initial military action was clearly won by the U.S. With regard to the peace, we have just as clearly been losing. So now we are faced with the question, can we reclaim victory through further military and diplomatic actions? As I have related in previous posts I believe that it will be necessary for the U.S. to remain in Iraq for at least the next 18 to 24 months regardless of the course we pursue. T...

December 14th, 2006 - Happy Birthday Patty Duke!
2006-12-15 04:12:01 sourcePatty Duke (born December 14, 1946) is an Academy Award-winning American actress of the stage and screen. She currently resides in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She's 60!Born Anna Marie Duke in Elmhurst, Queens, New York, USA to an Irish American father, John P. Duke, and an Irish-German mother, Frances McMahon. Duke experienced what could be termed a Dickensian childhood. Her father was an alcoholic, and her mother suffered from unipolar disorder and was prone to violence. When Duke was 6, her mother threw her father out. When she was 8, her mother essentially turned Duke's care over to her managers, John and Ethel Ross, who recognized her talent and promoted her as a child actress. The Rosses' methods were somewhat unscrupulous. For instance, they consistently billed Duke as two years younger than she was, and padded her resume with some false credits. It was Ethel Ross who gave the sweeping name-change order, "Anna Marie is dead, you are Patty now." This would have pa...

December 14 - BBC Interview
2006-12-14 22:01:06 Okay... I was on BBC Manchester, and a few little things came out.My real name isn't Delta, but David. Hmm... Well now that one is out, you can go listen to the whole funny thing over at the BBC website. The interview went brilliantly! I was laughing my head off, as Eamonn decided to spell his name wrong. I had a good look at Eamonn's 6 screens which he uses to operate Studio 1, and also had a laugh 'getting one over him' with the optical zoom. Brilliant! And if you're in need for a laugh, check out Eamonn's new blog I set up for him, called Bad Jokes R Us - And yes... They're bad! Turned out that the first commenter was 'Lisa', from my Dad's work. Rather cool really!All-in-all, I thought it went much better than the other interview, despite it being live. I think that because it was live though, I did alot better. It was easier sitting across the desk from a funny man, rather than talking over an ISDN line to a sane person. My mum was in the corner of the studio, laughing...
