2007-12-08 18:52:00 A couple of years ago, I signed up for free blogs at BlogsUK, Blogdrive, LiveJournal, MySpace, Xanga, and a couple of others I’ve forgotten about. Some of those require you to join up in order to leave comments on other blogs, and a free page comes with membership. I wanted to get a URL for each in my name before someone else does. I was too late at MySpace, so I had to use therealmisscellania. They are also ads for my active blogs. Not a big deal, although I should update them more often. So when FaceBook became popular, I signed on to that, too. Everything was fine until a couple months ago, when FaceBook opened up to third-party applications. Since then, things have gotten crazy. Every day I have 50+ messages that someone or other left a message, wrote on my “wall”, threw a sheep at me, or bought me a virtual toy, etc etc etc. For every message, I have to open a new window, sign in (“remember me” never does), and follow more links to find out what it...
