Some pictures from the DEEP event last night. Will be more later, once Cliff gets his stuff sorted. Anyway, some of the highlights. The highlight of the evening was going to be the tournament for the middleweight championship belt. Round 1 was held yesterday, unfortunately they drew the fights on the night. The result, the final was effectively yesterday.Riki Fukuda drew Ryuta Sakurai. These 2 fighters were way better than the rest in the tournament. To add to the list of resons this draw was a bad idea, the fight was drawn to be the first of the tournament fights (there were 3 more fights after this). Sakurai vs. Fukuda was the main event in DEEP 34.And the DEEP champion will be.... Riki Fukuda, he won a tough fight by decision.In the female final, Satoko Shinashi met SACHI. This went was predicted.And Satoko Shinashi won the DEEP Female Flyweight belt.

I just came back from the DEEP event tonight. As always, I enjoyed the night. The main event was chosen by draw... And I think Saeki (DEEP Promotor) wished it went differently... In the first round we saw Ryuta Sakuraigi vs. Riki Fukuda. This is what I expected the final to be.In the other tournament of the night, Satoko Shinashi took home the Flyweight title. It should be mentioned that she got through the first fight with some good advice from Shinya Aoki (when she gave up her back), but as the night progressed she was the best fighter, by far.My (and most of my friends') favorite fight of the night (except Sakurai vs. Fukuda) was the heavyweight battle between Inoue and Nakanish, lets just call it slugfest 2008.Ryoji Suzuki Def. DEEP has announced the fight order for their event on Friday. I am looking forward to this for several resons, firstly, I think the middleweight tournament should give us some very entertaining fights. Secondly, I will be celebrating my birthday there. I am looking forward to this event, in particular, I think the middleweight tournament should give us some very good fights. I have been looking through Youtube and DailyMotion for the fights they have posted there for the Middleweight and the female Flyweight tournaments.Personally, I really enjoyed the Satoko Shinashi highlights video. I will be very surprised if she doesnt win this tournament.Unfortunately, I was not able to find videos for all the fighters. The card for DEEP 34 took a step towards being completed today. The last 2 names for the middleweight tournament are announced. DEEP has announced their Middleweight tournement for next year. This is a tournament to determine the new middleweight champion after Ryo Chonan handed his title back earlier this week. It will be held February 22 in Korakuen Hall.6 fighters are confirmed so far, another 2 will be announced later. Amoung them, former DEEP champion Ryuta Sakurai, Pride veteran with a very average record Daijiro Matsui and former King of Pancrase Yuichi Nakanishi.Confirmed fighters are:-Ryuta Sakurai (15-13-4)-Yuichi Nakanishi (6-7-3)-Riki Fukuda (8-3-0)-Daijiro Matsui (9-18-4)-Eiji Ishikawa (14-14-2)-Yuya Shirai (9-5-0)For now, my money is on Killer Bee`s Fukuda. He has showed a lot of promise, and I think he is a best fighter in this field.

One of the highlights during this event was the presentation of the Japanese participants in Yarennoka. Ryo Chonan was also presented as the DEEP champion, however due to his commitments to the UFC, he handed this belt back to Saeki as he would not be able to defend this. There has been a few changes to the card since I posted it. It will be exciting to see how he matches up against the very experienced Namekawa. Last night we had DEEP 32, the main event held the re-match of champion Hasegawa vs. Dong Hyun Kim. This time none of the fighters managed to gain a upper hand and it went to a draw. This means that Hasegawa retains his title. This also means that we will not find out if Saeki was going to come through on his promise to match Dong against Aoki if he were to win the title. Shinya Aoki is ofcourse now without a contract after the Pride offices were closed, and his signature would be very highly priced at the moment.Also on the card was Imanari, his fight was a none title fight and he won by a very predictable ankle lock over Hirouki Abe. A veces comentamos entre bloggers cuál puede ser el secreto del éxito de una entrada en el blog. Yo comprendo que esta es la madre del cordero.
