He recanted later saying that he did not want to do all that but wanted companies like Facebook and Google to regulate the process whereby objectionable content be removed via pre-screening. After facing many threats, abuses and critical comments Sibal has seemingly backed out for now. At the end of day 14 Mumbai had overtaken Delhi with the bids reaching a total of Rs 1,252 crore for Mumbai vis a vis Rs 1,209 crore for Delhi. This is almost 4 times the original base price of both these cities which is pegged at 320 crore. As stated earlier the bids are surely going to make the Government a cool sum of Rs 33,528 crore but thats again assumming all the available 3G slots across all circles are lapped up by operators. Many of the slots are yet to be taken. The word is out that after 82 rounds of auctioning it will still be a week more till the final auctions are complete which could mean that the prices could be higher than what they are right now. 3G Bidding Reach Dizzy Heights – Delhi – Mumbai In The Fray

The bidding reached Rs 7,900 crore at the end of bidding on Saturday which is more than double the initial base price of Rs 3,500 crore which was set at the start of the bidding on 9th of April. The bidding amounts have scaled over 76 rounds of bidding which have taken over 13 days to be complete. We blogged about the highest increase in the bidding which took place on the 7th day. The delhi circle had emerged as a favorite among bidders then. Even on saturday Delhi was slightly ahead with 1083 crore in bidding vs mumbai’s 1079 crore. At the current bidding spree the government could easily net a sum of Rs 31,600 crore from the 3G auctions if all the available slots are sold off. Unfortunately inspite of the bidding rising to dizzying heights certain slots and circles seem ignored by the bidders. At the end of the 7th day of the 3G Spectrum auctions, the overall bid price for all the circles had touched a figure of Rs 5,710.36 crore which is almost Rs 2,200 cr more than the initial base price of Rs 3,500. An overall growth of 63 percent! Google transit, launched in 2007 is a service integrated with Google maps helping users find out the directions by public transit. Initially launched in United States, China, Japan and Europe now the service has finally arrived in the country with it’s launch in Delhi. Google transit provides extensive information on train timings, station locations, frequency of service, time taken for travel and ticket fares and thus making commute really easy. TCS Gen Web 2.0 Survey Claims 99% of Delhi Students Have Mobile Phone Acces
2009-08-03 07:39:00 An interesting survey conducted by Tata Consultancy Services, India’s biggest IT services company has thrown up some interesting statistics. The study, called the TCS Generation Web 2.0 survey was conducted across 12 of the biggest cities in India – Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Cochin, Coimbatore, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi and Chennai. 14,000 students between the ages of 12-18 years were surveyed to understand what’s in the mind of these affluent students in the metros and tier II cities. The survey shows that an overwhelming 71% of students had access to Internet and 80% of them had access to mobile phones. A striking 99% of students in Delhi had access to a mobile phone while in Kolkata the corresponding number was 90%. The highest use of personal computers comes from Delhi and Bangalore; 77% of students from both the cities having answered in the affirmative.
