Depressing Photo of the Day
2008-06-05 05:06:00
First time I’ve seen gas at $4.00/gal in the East Valley. OK, technically it’s not $4. But it’s close enough. Saw it at $4.01 at the Basha’s on the corner of Elliot and Higley in Gilbert. Yesterday it was $3.94. Could have broken the $75 mark if I’d waited until tomorrow to fill up… Sigh. . ...SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Depressing Photo of the Day", url: "http://www.phoenixrealestategu-y.com/depressing-photo-of-the-d-ay/1035" });

30 years old with terminal cancer of a non-removable deeply essential organ. No family. No friends. No wife. No children. OK Flickr Photos, missing the old days, depressing. *sigh*
2008-03-25 12:04:00
I was going through files last night and I realized that I have posted a number no wait, A LOT of photos in my flickr [1]account and A LOT of which have been burried because it only shows the latest 200 photos uploaded, for the free account at least. So using my paypal money (i earned through blogging) I upgraded my flickr to a PRO account and voila! I was able to retrieve my old pictures and I had a good laugh although soon enough I felt depressed as well. Why? Because I miss those days where I had no worries and just drank the night away, or mornings for that matter. I did not care whether I go to the office drunk with only 2 hours of sleep and still reeking of alcohol. I also miss the people, most of them have resigned. Oh and one more thing, I was fat and I looked healthy, not anorexic. :( [2] Me and Marlon [3] when we were fat [4]And this is us now, looking anorexic.  More random alcohol intoxicated, fat photos   [5] [6] [7] [8]    [1] http://...

Oklahoma Fights Depressing Housing News
2008-03-13 15:36:00
In an effort to drown the negative housing news circulated by the national media, the Oklahoma Association of Realtors (OAR) decided to launch an awareness campaign. The said campaign hopes to inform the public that the state?s housing market is actually doing good. In fact, Oklahoma experienced a 4.2 percent growth in home values and total sales in 2007 remain to be the highest in the state?s history.

Discovery’s Earth Live short on explosions, long on depressing enviro
2008-02-13 01:02:00
Besides having some pretty cool TV programming (Smash Lab not included), The Discovery Channel has had some interesting forays into small, standalone Web sites. Just this past weekend I checked out the MythBusters slow motion video clip viewer, and today brings Discovery: Earth Live, a 3D globe that, like Google Earth, can display various layers of information. There are eight standard layers to choose from that range from cloud cover to rainfall averages. To complement the layers is a listing of featured stories that reference specific time periods and show up as tiny pins on the map. Among the more interesting is one of Hurricane Katrina that lets you track precipitation and the temperature of the sea as the storm developed. Besides messing about with the layers, users can create their own maps to link to, or embed on blogs. Unfortunately these end up as a pretty, but overly simplified spinning globe widget. There's no way to link to other news stories or control where the sto...

The most depressing day of the year
2008-01-24 17:39:00
I was sat in front the TV on Monday this week, eating my cereal whilst getting my dose of BBC Breakfast news as normal, when low and behold the news reader announced that Monday 21 January 2008 was officially the most depressing day of the year.Mondays are probably quite challenging for most of us as we drag ourselves out of bed to begin the new working week, couple that with some financial upheaval this week and severe flooding, all on Monday, and I can see where they are coming from. However, this “most depressing day of the year” is not a new claim.A couple of years ago, a scientist at Cardiff University, Cliff Arnall, developed a formula for calculating the most depressing day of the year. His formula expresses the relationship between poor weather, post-Christmas debt, time passed since the yuletide indulgence, failed new year resolutions, motivation levels, and the need to have something to look forward to. It looks something like this:1/8W+(D-d) 3/8xTQ MxNA. Where:W: We...

The Most Depressing Paragraph Ever
2008-01-04 22:15:00
From Dater: Smyth's injury capped a miserable seven days for the Avs, during which captain Joe Sakic had hernia surgery and they lost four consecutive games — three at home, including one to the NHL's worst team, Los Angeles. The Avs were in first place early last week, but have fallen to fourth in the Northwest Division, and after a home game Saturday against the New York Islanders, they will begin a tough five-game road trip. Only Tampa Bay and L.A. have worse road records than Colorado's 6-10-3. I'm having trouble sleeping these days. But really, it's probably not as horrible as we're all starting to believe it is.  The Avs still have a LOT of talent on the roster.  Just because they have absolutely no idea how to play together like a real team may seem like a major issue, but disfunctional groups of skilled athletes have succeeded in the past.  No examples come immediately to mind, but I'm sure somebody can think of something. Anyway, the Avs ar...
Do Vitammins Have Anti-depressing Effect?
2007-12-13 09:38:00
Any emotionally-nervous stress exceeds the consumption of vitamins, and their deficit increases the impact of stress on the body, and first of all we need to fill the Group B vitamins supply, which play an important role in the nervous system, as well as antioxidant-vitamins (C, E , beta). But, if the body gets the necessary dose of vitamins, do not expect additional effects by increasing the dose.A very important factor in the fight against stress manifestations is your diet.Avoid alcohol, tobacco and drugs, which can cause bad mood. It is not a secret that an ideally balanced diet can be achieved only with the use of biologically active food additives. Active components of food additives (vitamin supplements) correct diet in a way that, first: activate the body's own anti-stress mechanisms; secondly: implement elements with properties to suppress the stress effects.Remember: Taking vitamins does not mean it will help to handle stress. Its cause can be in many other issues - so f...

What a depressing thought
2007-12-08 23:21:00
Warning: Downer post full of self-pity. Skip to a different one or else face the ensuing nausea.I just took a depression screening questionnaire and scored about a 95%. I have 95% of the symptoms I was questioned on. Bleh. Like it's even accurate though. I really doubt it. It probably just means that I'm normal. But sometimes I still wonder.I sound more and more like a hypochondriac everyday. I really do think I have at least minor anger management problems. I'd love to see a psychologist, just to have someone objective to talk to who would point me in the right direction and not just mold me for their own nefarious purposes. But I don't know how to go about setting that up. I don't want to have to come clean to my parents. And I don't have the money (or insurance). And the only people I have to talk to don't really listen. They all just tell me to "just deal with it" or "get over it" or tell me that my life isn't that bad and they don't know why I'm even compl...
Richelieu: A depressing debate
2007-11-30 20:07:00
At first, I thought my liberal friend was quoting from a liberal blog, but it was Richelieu from The Weekly Standard. I'm glad because only somebody truly naive would consider it fair to judge a party by .2% of submitted questions as selected by a left-leaning news organization (CNN). One correction for Richelieu: Huckabee never said that his theology degree qualified him for president. He said it gave him some authority when talking about the Bible which seems reasonable. I actually don't mind dumb questions. The ones that played into non-Republican's fears of Republicans (literal Bible-thumper guy, gun-tosser guy) elicited smart answers from the candidates. Were the "Jethro" questions designed to make Republicans look bad? Well, CNN didn't try to make Republicans look good. That much is for sure. He said: => Read more!
Superhero-rama!: More depressing Sam Raimi!
2007-11-30 00:24:00
(Yes, I know this is late. Sorry...don't grind it into the ground for me) It seems that mr. Raimi is really trying to give us a bit of a fright about Spidey 4. In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources where he is asked about the writing in the 4th installment in the epic comic book series he says thatSam: If I was writing it I would have a very strong opinion about that, but we're hiring a writer to come up with his own take. Sony was willing to go either way, we'll just have to wait and see what the writer comes up with. I think anything's possible, though.I mean, there's been so many different versions, it doesn't have to follow the movies that we've made. I'd very much like to see Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, so I have a personal interest in that, but certainly anything's possible. Spider-Man's such a big character in the comic books that he could endure a lot of different interpretations. You could start over or you could start with a different aspect of the sto...

MOST DEPRESSING JOBS ACCORDING TO THE U.S. GOVERNMENT’S “SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION” Found this interesting article while surfing the Internet on Sunday, October 14th, 2007.  Thought that some of you here on the Cube might want to take a look at it.  Here is the link and a copy of the article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/212-92612/wid/11915773?GT1=10450 “Which Jobs Have The Highest Rate Of Depression?” - Report says personal care, restaurant industries suffer worst case of blues. WASHINGTON - People who tend to the elderly, change diapers and serve up food and drinks have the highest rates of depression among U.S. workers. Overall, 7 percent of full-time workers battled depression in the past year, according to a government report available Saturday. Women were more likely than men to have had a major bout of depression, and younger workers had higher rates of depression than their older colleagues. Almost 11 perc...
Tampa Bay Fan Reflection: It was a depressing start to the Season
2007-09-12 05:55:00
What a doom and gloom of a way to start the season.... My goodness, I dread coming on here and expressing my opinions on the Bucs ... it's like a reoccurring nightmare. Tampa Bay comes out and shows a glimmer of excitement to only minutes later have their bread and butter (Jeff and Carnell) struggle to make it to the locker room. I know a lot of you are thinking "glimmer of excitement? We scored 6 points." Yeah we did, but we also had a 49 yard reception to Joey Galloway, Ike Hilliard looked like a rejuvenated Florida Gator running after the catch, and THERE WERE ZERO BATTED BALLS!!!!. It was too good to be true though Buc fans. Caddy has bruised ribs and would be smart to sit out against a strong and fast Saints defense. Jeff Garcia clearly had a mild concussion, the guy was insanely foggy. He was lucky to leave the game with only that. Garcia on the hard knocks: "I just got my bell rung," said Garcia. "It's just one of those things where I took a shot to the head, and that with...

Theatre: ?Paradise Lost? a Depressingly Uplifting Chronicle on American Uto

CHICAGO ? Ethics versus survival. Taking versus giving. Hitting rock bottom but still clinging onto hope. That?s paradise ? and what it?s like to lose it ? in the 1935 mind of playwright Clifford Odets.?Paradise Lost? as penned by Odets and directed by Chicago?s Louis Contey is a classically depressing yet uplifting chronicle on American utopianism (or the lack thereof).?Paradise Lost?Photo courtesy of the TimeLine TheatreReplete with a bevy of local character actors ? from the furnace repairman to the squirrely mafia friend to the father who plays precisely by the book ? one could question whether the cast materializes into a unit or the actors individually stand on their own. While to me they consummated a team more than they shone as individuals, there?s one underlining concept about the production you can?t question in your own life: We?ve all been there.?Paradise Lost?Photo courtesy of the TimeLine TheatreWe?ve all flirted with the American dream ? as Odets did so obsessively ? ...

He brings up our trashcans and treats for Sonny. Now that he knows Sonny is dying he makes a point to come to the door and visit Sonny several times a week.
