2008-04-23 22:15:00 So a very interesting article has popped up on Coding Horror that paints the WordPress software in a bad light. A friend of mine Mark from 45n5.com posted about it on Twitter, using it as another jab against all the WordPress “fanboys” in the world. This is an incredibly scary result; blog.stackoverflow.com is getting, at best, a moderate trickle of incoming traffic. It’s barely linked anywhere! With that kind of CPU load level, this site would fall over instantaneously if it got remotely popular, or God forbid, anywhere near the front page of a social bookmarking website. For a bare-bones blog which is doing approximately nothing, this is a completely unacceptable result. It’s appalling. I looked over the article, and didn’t see anything wrong with it. Apart from its girlfriend/boyfriend break-up and post-relationship status lyrical content, the music is mature enough to overcome something like Hellogoodbye. Unlike most indie albums which lack a hit song, Hissing Fauna has “Gronlandic Edit” and probably “A Sentence of Sorts in Kongsvinger”. The disk is split in half with the 12-minute confessionary “The Past Is a Grotesque Animal” being grotesquely put in the hot core of the album just where the music and hits are topping. This turning point divulges a slow downfall which continues to quench the album constantly until the end of the final “We Were Born the Mutants Again with Leofling”. 2007-09-10 21:21:00 I have been a bonsai-ist now for two months and I have been a complete failure so far. Of four different types of seed that I have attempted to germinate only one, the eucalyptus, sprouted. For two months of inflated electricity bills and molly-coddling I only managed to get one little seedling. But when I saw that little seedling it all felt worthwhile: Here was my very own tree that I could grow from a seed and then train into a bonsai. As soon as I saw the little sprout I thought I had succeeded. I came home this evening and my little eucalyptus seedling was slumped over. It was small anyway and I would often have to scan the surface carefully to find it. But when I checked on it this evening on getting home I stared and stared at the surface of the pot and turned it around several different angles. I couldn?t find it. It was as if it had disappeared.
