GM still rules roads in Cuba? No, a Communist dictator does.
2009-06-13 19:42:00
MSNBC video reports that "GM still rules roads in Cuba". Setting aside the sad statement about the condition of GM, this report leaves us with a series of stories about inventive people keeping their hulks going no matter what - for well over 50 years. But look a little deeper look for what this report is really showing us. The Communist Cuban government is a repressive dictatorship, plain and simple. Old cars like this are just another sign of its many failures.  The tourist agency shown in the video even features restored cars in an attempt to draw nostalgic tourists. That’s nothing more than an attempt at crass propaganda. Let’s remember that Castro stole what democracy his people had (granted, it was corrupt and needed change) and a getting tourists back on the island isn’t going to improve upon the freedoms of the people. And don’t forget about Chavez and Ahmadinejad and their recent election rigging. Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World New...

Boston Paper: John McCain Will be a Dictator?
2008-10-25 19:45:00
By- Warner Todd Huston Someone at The Phoenix, a small Boston weekly, is off his medication. It’s hard to believe sanity is a familiar state, at least, when reviewing the silliness passed off as serious political analysis, anyway. For the lead editorial in The Phoenix this week is a fantastic display of hyperbole filled with “truther” ...
Teachers Union Head Seeks to Become Tin Pot Dictator
2008-07-20 07:52:00
-By Warner Todd Huston Randi Weingarten has delusions of grandeur. She thinks she should be given the power of a dictator instead of those of a teachers union president. Instead of just teaching kids, Weingarten imagines that she should become doctor, nanny, nutritionist, psychologist, and mother to every kid in America. She imagines that she ...
Bush and Cheney dictator and psychopath’s checklists are complete: time for
2008-06-03 14:19:00
by Roland Michel Tremblay I believe we are all aware now that George W. Bush is a psychopath, with a personality disorder characterised by chronic immoral and antisocial behaviour. It will be his only defence, his mental health problem, if the War Crime Tribunals catch up with him one day. I will go through his psychopath’s checklist later. What is important to keep in mind though, is that his full political agenda has not been entirely played out yet, and before it is over, George W. Bush will certainly present a perfect case of a full flesh dictator. We still have the time to stop him, but we won’t for much longer. So let’s explore what is really happening. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney dictatorship’s checklist, that I had to quickly establish from many websites, and which is not exhaustive, goes something like this: 1) a leader who holds and/or abuses an extraordinary amount of personal power, 2) the power to make laws without effective restraint by a legislative...
Obama: Iran?s Dictator or US CentCom General?
2008-05-29 03:11:00
As John McCain said yesterday, “Why is it that Senator Obama wants to sit down with the President of Iran, but hasn’t yet sat down with General Petraeus — the leader of our troops in Iraq?” Good question. Let’s help encourage Senator Obama and have him visit our troops in Iraq (and Afghanistan) as well as ...

America?s Need for a (Temporary) Dictator
2008-03-17 22:50:00
In the ancient Roman Republic when crises threatened the republic, a dictator would be named to serve a six month term in which the dictator was to solve the crisis.  With the exception of Caesar (and some sources refer to another as well) no dictator served beyond this term limit.  One man, Cincinnatus, held the ...

Interrogator: Invasion Surprised Saddam, Tells 60 Minutes Former Dictator B

weapons of mass destruction" href="http://www.cbsnews.com/st-ories/2008/01/24/60minutes/main-3749494.shtml">Saddam Hussein initially didn't think the U.S. would invade Iraq to destroy weapons of mass destruction, so he kept the fact that he had none a secret to prevent an Iranian invasion he believed could happen. The Iraqi dictator revealed this thinking to George Piro, the FBI agent assigned to interrogate him after his capture. Oooh!! Bush Lied, People Died!....oh wait... He also intended and had the wherewithal to restart the weapons program. "Saddam still had the engineers. The folks that he needed to reconstitute his program are still there," says Piro. "He wanted to pursue all of WMD?to reconstitute his entire WMD program." This included chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, Piro says. So Saddam DID want to get his WMD program back online, he was just waiting for the US to get a little lax, and then, back to business as usual. Some people might use this as a "Ha!  I t...
Javanese believe ancient mysticism shielding ex-dictator Suharto from death
2008-01-24 11:35:00
As a young soldier, former Indonesian president Suharto was visited by powerful Javanese shaman who bequeathed him mystical charms to shield him from bullets and make him invisible during battle.Suharto is now 86 and has been languishing in a Jakarta hospital for weeks. But magical pins and metal ? some said to be embedded in his body ? are keeping the one-time strongman from passing to another world, according to popular Indonesian legend.Doctors said Thursday his condition was improving after briefly deteriorating the day before. Fluid and infection in his lungs were reduced overnight and Suharto was able to whisper and take a few bites of food. The 40-member presidential medical team struggling to stem Suharto's sepsis, pneumonia, failing kidneys, lungs and heart ascribe his resilience to tough army training and physical strength. On the streets, however, theories about his spiritual powers prevail."There are many strange objects in his body. They are making it difficult for Suhar...

Will Chelsea Clinton end up as dictator of the United States
2008-01-10 15:13:00
Ok, bear with me. In 1988, George H.W. Bush was elected President of the United States. 20 years later, and we’ve had either a Bush or a Clinton in office. What happens if Hilary Clinton gets elected following her victory in the New Hampshire primary?Imagine 28 years. An entire generation, with nothing but Clintons and Bush’s as President. If Jeb Bush became President after that, they’ve have it clinched. America’s two royal families.36 years later, Dictator for Life Chelsea would waft into office.
SCOOP: KOREAN DICTATOR SEEKS ASYLUM IN RELUBBUS
2008-01-06 13:22:00
A report written in the third person by "Landshark" (Archilaus Tresidder)Archilaus is pictured on the left in triumphant mood on the morning after his big scoop. The night was very dark. He could hear the sea gently lapping at the pebbles of the beach, but he could see nothing. He was acting on information received. The contacts of the foreign newsdesk of the Relubbus Roundup had never yet failed. They had always been impeccable. However, this particular tip did seem unlikely. The words ran through his mind again for the umpteenth time, "He will alight from a rowing boat on Newlyn beach at 11.30 pm on the 24th December".Archilaus Tresidder was a junior cub under-reporter, a young man of only 44 who had yet to truly prove himself. Out of deference to his elders and betters at the Roundup, he insisted on continuing to wear short trousers until he had delivered his own very first big story single-handed, and after tonight, with luck and a following wind (he never had any difficulty man...

Hugo Chavez Pushes Closer to a Full Communist Dictatorship
2007-10-22 23:35:00
Hollywood liberals often spout that George Bush a Fascist. According to the Left, George Bush is taking away our liberties by listening to phone conversations from foreign suspected terrorists, or by denying trials for militants pulled off the battlefield in Afghanistan. Nevertheless, these ?Glittering Gems of Colossal Ignorance? fawn over tyrants like Hugo Chavez.Hugo Chavez, the champion of the ignorant limousine liberals, has decided to employ security forces to detain citizens without charge during political ?emergencies? or major natural disasters. Yes, that is right; after taking control over virtually all media in Venezuela, now Hugo Chavez wants to throw people in jail for dissent. When a massacre takes place in Venezuela in the next decade, just wait for Hollywood to apologize on behalf of Hugo Chavez for, ?Just trying to help the poor.?My predictions are not unfounded either. Communist Cuba executed or detained the greatest percentage of its population, in the shortes...

Medellin: A Road Map to a U.N. Dictatorship
2007-10-11 21:14:00
The Medellin case has apparent implications for the office of the President, through his foreign policy discretion, to evade Congress to impose any ruling the world court might make.Justices Ginsberg, Kennedy, and Souter have already written both concurrent and dissenting opinions citing international law and the authority of the Hague in matters of national (not international) interests. Here's the road map to the end of democracy in America:The Bush position is that when the Senate has adopted a non-self-enforcing treaty, the treaty becomes self-enforcing if: "1. The World Court issues a ruling under the treaty in a case in which the United States accepts jurisdiction, and 2. The President then, exercising his foreign policy discretion, decides that the World Court order must be implemented."- Medellin v. Texas brief. The position of Medellin's lawyers is even broader, that a World Court ruling is sufficient in itself. If this were to become binding precedent by the Supreme Court, ...

Ahmadinejad is no petty and cruel dictator
2007-09-26 13:31:00
I have been able to catch four of the five or six interview/question/presentation- sessions with the president of Iran: his interview with Charlie Rose on PBS, his presentation and question session with 20 or so of our principal media people at the National Press Club by TV transmission from the UN, the Columbia encounter, and his presentation to the UN. I caught a snippet of his exchange with the anti Zionist rabbis, and look forward to the interview with Christiane Amanpour scheduled for 9 p.m. tonight on CNN. Various knowledgeable commentators have pointed out that whatever his personal characteristics, President Ahmadinejad is no dictator. His powers are limited. He cannot even appoint his own cabinet officers. Iran is run by a cabal of religious figures currently battling apparently between a liberal and conservative wing for control of the nation. A friend sent along comments from the “Iranian academic society [that] condemns Lee Bollinger remarks.” It is worth q...
