Wear Those Braces or Else: Dictatorship Within Democracy
2008-11-23 10:28:00
Patent #4,764,111 is a device for reminding kids to wear their braces, which involves implanting an alarm in their mouths with a timer. Perhaps well intentioned, this absurd patent is a subtle reminder of how individual rights can be taken away a little bit at a time, especially for kids. Read on, no matter how you may feel about a free society.
Congressman Warns of Obama Dictatorship
2008-11-11 04:39:00
WASHINGTON ? A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship."It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may ? may not, I hope not ? but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism."Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military."That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military...

Those Canadians who hope to see the new Asian giants rival the U.S. in a few decades as the great global engine and the new big market for Canada simply do not realize that such a change would be an unmitigated disaster for us. Replacing a Dictatorship
2008-05-02 06:46:00
Anwar SyedIn an open letter to the people of Pakistan (October 9, 2006) a group of 15 eminent citizens has called upon them to stand up and wage a struggle for removing the present authoritarian regime. These gentlemen argue that Pakistan cannot survive repeated and extended periods of military rule, which are wanting in legitimacy and credibility.A ?power hungry? general, aided by a bunch of depraved politicians, has mutilated and subverted the country?s Constitution. He has made parliament, the prime minister and his cabinet, and the judiciary, each into a ?fig leaf? to cover his unlawful practices. The federation is ?bursting at the seams? under the weight of his misrule. They believe that free and fair elections will not be held while he is in power. They conclude that ?we have no alternative but to stand up and fight. If we succeed, and God willing we shall, we may get a new Pakistan,? that is free, dynamic, progressive, stable, and master of its own destiny. These observations ...

Havana, November 20, 2007.We call upon all Cubans to commemorate International Human Rights Day on December 10th, by exercising our right to demonstrate in a PEACEFUL SILENT MARCH as a protest of the immoral and illegal APARTHEID policy imposed by the Cuban government. It is the duty all people to assume individual responsibility and confront the tragedy facing the nation, to urge political, economic and social changes that benefit EVERYONE, and to facilitate an end to this humiliating situation in which a powerful few violate sovereignty and enjoy privileges all while discriminating against the majority simply because they are citizens.Governments, institutions, organizations and human beings in general have an obligation to promote respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, as well as ensure their recognition and universal and effective application. Our appeal, by our participation on that day, will be for the recognition, in every corner of the earth, of the inherent dignity and ...
Hugo Chavez's move toward a dictatorship denied
2007-12-03 21:03:00
Lo siento mucho, Huey! Hugo Chavez tried his luck this Sunday when he tried to force through a huge re-write of the Venezuelan constitution that would've allowed him to run for president forever without any term limits. Yikes. It also would've granted him even more authoritarian powers over the media and businesses, but fortunately he was blocked. Venezuelans said no in the referendum to Chavez's plans and Chavez had to eat crow and swallow defeat. This is not something a man with Chavez's ego does easily! Pobrecito. Watch this clip from the AP. The good thing is that although Chavez is one of the most pompous gasbags in the international political scene, he still conceded to the people. This is very noble of him and shows his respect for democracy. Heck, dare I say it, but Chavez is more democratic than GW Bush! When the American people are polled and give their opinions Bush poo-poos them and says that he's not worried about popularity. Hmmm, looks like Chavez could teach...
Flirting with Dictatorship - On the road to South Africa?s next president
2007-12-02 11:34:00
Ronald Suresh Roberts, sycophantic biographer of Thabo Mbeki Jacob Zuma, some-time rapist, multi-million dollar arms-deal fraudster, populist, and permanently in search of his machine gun, declares that he is ready to “rule” South Africa. This man is likely to be South Africa’s next president. This is quite a departure for the African National Congress, the ANC, the party of Albert Luthuli and Nelson Mandela; both Nobel Peace Prize winners. The noble ideal of setting aside the politics of race in search of a new, unified, representative nation has given way to the politics of race, nepotism, corruption and dictatorship. As Kent Durr, South Africa’s one-time ambassador to the UK put it, “The ANC appears to have gone from struggle to corruption without an intervening period of service to the nation.” A history of corruption There is someone to blame for all of this. Thabo Mbeki, South Africa’s current president. Think of him as AfricaR...

Hugo Chavez Pushes Closer to a Full Communist Dictatorship
2007-10-22 23:35:00
Hollywood liberals often spout that George Bush a Fascist. According to the Left, George Bush is taking away our liberties by listening to phone conversations from foreign suspected terrorists, or by denying trials for militants pulled off the battlefield in Afghanistan. Nevertheless, these ?Glittering Gems of Colossal Ignorance? fawn over tyrants like Hugo Chavez.Hugo Chavez, the champion of the ignorant limousine liberals, has decided to employ security forces to detain citizens without charge during political ?emergencies? or major natural disasters. Yes, that is right; after taking control over virtually all media in Venezuela, now Hugo Chavez wants to throw people in jail for dissent. When a massacre takes place in Venezuela in the next decade, just wait for Hollywood to apologize on behalf of Hugo Chavez for, ?Just trying to help the poor.?My predictions are not unfounded either. Communist Cuba executed or detained the greatest percentage of its population, in the shortes...

Medellin: A Road Map to a U.N. Dictatorship
2007-10-11 21:14:00
The Medellin case has apparent implications for the office of the President, through his foreign policy discretion, to evade Congress to impose any ruling the world court might make.Justices Ginsberg, Kennedy, and Souter have already written both concurrent and dissenting opinions citing international law and the authority of the Hague in matters of national (not international) interests. Here's the road map to the end of democracy in America:The Bush position is that when the Senate has adopted a non-self-enforcing treaty, the treaty becomes self-enforcing if: "1. The World Court issues a ruling under the treaty in a case in which the United States accepts jurisdiction, and 2. The President then, exercising his foreign policy discretion, decides that the World Court order must be implemented."- Medellin v. Texas brief. The position of Medellin's lawyers is even broader, that a World Court ruling is sufficient in itself. If this were to become binding precedent by the Supreme Court, ...

LAL MASJID: Some Facts
2007-07-13 18:39:00
Ah?.another bloody game to perpetuate power. The players acted exactly as per the role given to them in the script written by somebody who is all out to save his position. The bloody dramas in history of Pakistan are not new. Ayub Khan after his shameful 'victory' against Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, tried to avert the public attention and launched operation gibralter which resulted in Indian attack in 1965 resulting deaths of thousands of Pakistanis. Yahya Khan attacked East Pakistan in a hope that the public opinion will be diverted to that issue and he would find more time to rule. Zia was no exception. He continued same bloody games by dancing on one or the other tunes, Islam was the most popular on his agenda. It was expected after Musharraf found himself in crisis after Chief Justice case and his declining popularity that he would do some ugly deeds to avert public opinion from the real issues and to get accoloade from his western masters. He did it successfully. He held a card i...

Bukovsky and BelienVladimir Bukovksy, the 63-year old former Soviet dissident, fears that the European Union is on its way to becoming another Soviet Union. In a speech he delivered in Brussels last week Mr Bukovsky called the EU a “monster†that must be destroyed, the sooner the better, before it develops into a fullfledged totalitarian state. Original article on Feb. 27, 2006 Read More… Paul Belien: You were a very famous Soviet dissident and now you are drawing a parallel between the European Union and the Soviet Union. Can you explain this? Vladimir Bukovsky: I am referrring to structures, to certain ideologies being instilled, to the plans, the direction, the inevitable expansion, the obliteration of nations, which was the purpose of the Soviet Union. Most people do not understand this. They do not know it, but we do because we were raised in the Soviet Union where we had to study the Soviet ideology in school and at university.
