Real People - Digital Lives
2007-11-07 19:28:00
This week we posted some new videos on www.windows.com and www.windowslive.com. We call them demos but really they?re little stories about people using Windows to do more, connect with loved ones and share memories. I?m excited about the videos for a couple of reasons (besides the fact that it?s always fun to have something you had a hand in producing actually Out There ? in front of real people who will have real opinions about them) ? naturally I?m excited about the chance to paint a picture of Windows Vista and Windows Live working together and to showcase new features and capabilities in the product, but what I?m most excited about is the opportunity to put Windows in the context of people?s lives ? which is an approach we haven?t traditionally taken with product demos on the Windows website.   I went out on a limb a bit with these videos because of this ? our initial storyboards revolved around the product, just showing the UI and talking about the benefits, but...

Pictures and impressions from Digital Life
2007-10-01 03:34:00
With Digital Life finally drawing to a close, some were excited by what they saw and others were, well, a bit disappointed. Unfortunately, you can add my name to the second group. All in all, Digital Life proved to be small, lackluster and boring. The majority of the people at the show were obsessed ...
A couple of news in my digital life
2007-09-28 21:43:00
Hi, readers of my life :)Well, something new happened in my life again. And it has something to do with you knowing me better and imagining main reasons of my posts here. I started using Picasa. A tool by google which lets me categorize, sort, describe, edit etc. my pictures. Even more. I can upload full albums to web and make them public for everyone to see. The address is http://picasaweb.google.com/mag-netas. Check it out regularly to see newest pics and album updates. And after putting some new software into my computer today I put some new hardware!!! :) From now on my oldie has 1280MB of RAM and I can feel that every moment I'm using it (even now, writing this post).Well...that's it for today. I was hoping to get some emotions from kites, to make some pictures, meet the guys from the club, but wind forecasts were wrong. I'm looking forward to do all that tomorrow.Take care

Get A Digital Life
2007-09-28 13:26:00
I cruised by Digital Life yesterday, a friend was doing pr for a publishing company and we had time to catch up after the show. While he was working I wondered the main floor of The Javits Center to see if there was something I could learn or give me some inspiration. As the average age of the people in attendance was twenty years my junior, I certainly felt out of place. The show was a mish mash of gaming (both fixed and mobile), consumer electronics, audio and communications. It was interested to see the old style Ms. PacMan alongside a mobile version of the same. What was interesting was that hardly anyone was playing the mobile version, but rather opted for twenty year old technology, certainly an oxymoron given the nature of the show and my belief that twenty somethings were early adopters of mobile gaming? I did meet Frank Greer, CEO and President of Zipit Wireless, a company with the Z2 a $150.00 mobile communicator, I called it the Blackberry for the under twenty set,...
A First Look at Digital Life...
2007-09-28 05:59:00
Hello Ladies and Gents,I decided to take a quick break from compiling LOTS of intel gathered today at the DigitalLife Press-only preview at the Javits Center. Basically I didn't want to leave any of our faithful readers, who have come to expect AskTheAdmin to be on the cutting blade-edge of technology, hanging. As we've mentioned before, we have visitors as well as admins from all over the world checking us out. So I want to make sure our beloved viewers who aren't able to get down to NYC are in the timely loop of things. Onward and upward...As I walked into the Javits the first thing that struck my fancy was the Nokia-fied Ford Mustang with some very stylish exterior accoutrements. This car was packed to the hilt (tastefully) with some of the newest pro audio out. But the most impressive thing about this blazing Ford 'Stang was the fact that Nokia has retro-fitted this car to 'mind-meld', so to speak, with some very cool Nokia Mobile media devices.(see pics). I was pleasantly...
Interview with Monica Vila on Digital Life 2007
2007-09-25 20:09:00
As we are getting hyped for the kick off of Digital Week in NYC we scored an interview with Monica Vila. She is the Vice President of Consumer Marketing for Ziff Davis (That's the company that brings you DigitalLife in all its geeky glory!). She got all of your questions, about DigitalLife, answered below along with some of ours! She also put some of our geeky concerns to rest :). The question most of you sent in about the badges and RFID concerns were laid to bed as well. Check it out:ATA: We hear that Digital Life brought in over 52,000 people last year. Do you think this year will be a bigger draw? DL: We certainly hope so! And we are certainly ready for more; this year is without a doubt, our best year yet. Now in our 4th year, we’ve become an event that consumers look forward to, and companies fold into their marketing calendars, as an important event to participate in. More and more companies are using DigitalLife as their venue for making their big product announcements...

digital life
2007-07-24 02:55:00
There are two types of electronics that I could not live without - one is my Powerbook G4 laptop and the other is my digital camera. I use my camera on a daily basis to take pictures of my kids. I have a folder on my computer dedicated to pictures of Gabrielle for every week since she was born last November. There are literally hundreds of pictures in that folder. My camera is by no means considered great compared rest of the digital cameras on the market these days. It's merely a point-and-click camera by Kodak. What I would really love to have is a top of the line Nikon D40x. If I could have something like that, I would never ask Santa for anything again the rest of my wonderful life.

Digital life management
2006-11-26 14:03:02
In this modern world much of our life happens in the electronic realm. I’ve compiled of few of the methods I use for managing my digital life. Passwords I have literally hundreds of usernames and passwords I need to remember, so I developed a 4 tiered system to manage them all. I have username and password combos for: Systems that I control, which would be my own computer or server. I tell it to no one. Sensitive accounts like my bank or AdWords. I would tell very trusted people on a need to know basis. Things I care about but don’t see as a security issue, such as my 9rules login info. I’m not going to publish my login, but I don’t sweat who I tell. Things I’m forced to sign up for, such as the NYTimes.com or a software download. I don’t care who knows that info. I also keep a black binder that I handwrite my login info because some places won’t accept my username and passwords of choice, such as I can’t change my 9rules Notes passw...
