Ultimate Fight Night 13 Betting Odds
2008-04-01 05:54:00 The books were a little slow on releasing their numbers, but there are some interesting opportunities in this unbelievably packed fight card. Not to gloat but I will be in Colorado to enjoy this one live. Which means I'm Heading out in 8 hours so I'm going with a very reduced analysis. I'm only going to cover the fights I'm betting on, besides I doubt any of you want to read about 12!! different match ups.I'm going to run through how I come up with my own probabilities for fights to decide if there is value in each bet. It's definitely tough to pick the strongest bet on this card. There are obviously some lopsided match ups, but of course the odds on those are -600 to -800, not what I'm looking for. I've picked three fights to bet on, but there are many options just do your research and shop those odds folks.Frankie Edgar (-160 Sportsbook) vs Gray Maynard (+130 Sportsbook)Decision: 65% chance of happening, Edgar wins this outcome 65 % of the time. There's a pretty good chanc...

2007-11-03 23:52:00 By Will Greenlee PORT ST. LUCIE ? The lawyer for local Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Din Thomas ? accused of running "illegal cage fighting" matches ? said Friday his client "did not break the law that he is being charged with breaking." Thomas, 31, faces a felony prohibited competitions charge after a man told police Oct. 19 about a supposed "fight club" at a facility the Delaware native uses in St. Lucie West. A prosecutor has said he's being charged with "promoting an activity that was not sanctioned by the Florida Boxing Commission." Stuart-based attorney Corey Sucher, a former local prosecutor, said the statute is "extremely vague," and said he viewed what happened as "sparring sessions between teammates." The state Boxing Commission, which is part of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, licenses and regulates professional boxing and mixed martial arts, a combination of boxing, kickb...

2007-10-30 22:49:00 By Will Greenlee PORT ST. LUCIE ? Din Thomas, almost a legend in the ultimate fighting world, was arrested Tuesday after police say he ran ?illegal cage fighting? matches at a local training studio that he runs, a police spokesman said. Thomas, 31, faces a felony prohibited competitions charge after police got a tip Oct. 19 about the matches at a facility he uses in St. Lucie West. It?s named American Top T...
An Interview with Din Thomas (Part 2 of 2) - 26 Oct 2007 03:16:40am
2007-10-26 05:16:00 By Sean Canavan In the second part of this incredibly candid interview Din gives us his take on Edgar/Fisher, Huerta/Guida and the failure of Pride fighters. He talks about steroids in MMA and his opinion of Hermes Franca's excuse for a positive drug test. Lastly Din explains why he feels BJ doesn't deserve a title shot and how giving him one would be a "slap in the face" to the 155 lb division. Sean: Would you be willing to pick fights with your opponents, ala Tito Ortiz, to try to bring attention to your fights? Din: They try to get you to do that. Its kind of a good marketing thing to do for yourself, to make fun of and pick on these guys so you can bring some attention to the fight. I try not to waste too much time with that stuff. I have too much other stuff going on in my life to be on an internet board calling people names. When you do the interviews, the interviewer always tries to get you to talk trash about your opponent but for me I don?t really...
An Interview with Din Thomas (Part 1 of 2) - 24 Oct 2007 12:08:32am
2007-10-24 02:08:00 By Sean Canavan With the UFC Lightweight Division in a now familiar state of flux, Strictlymma.com contributor Sean Canavan talked to 155 lb contender Din Thomas about his career, his injury, Kenny Florian and the sport and division generally. This is the first of two parts, the second will run tomorrow. Sean: How?s the knee? Din: I just got surgery on Tuesday. Its alright considering that. I still cant walk. Sean: Do you have an idea when you?ll be able to get back training? Din: I think in about six weeks I can start. I?m going to play it by ear but he estimated six weeks. Sean: Have you talked to the UFC about who you are going to be fighting and when? Din: I haven?t talked to them at all. I haven?t heard a peep from them since the fight. I?ve been dealing with one of the coordinators with the surgery but nothing with the big leagues. Sean: You?ve been fighting for a long time, even though you are only 30, do you think you are starting to get injured more now ...
Irish Whip Fighting Exclusive: Din Thomas Interview
2007-10-13 06:15:00 In his first post-Florian loss interview, hear Din Thomas talk about his Florian fight, his movie career, his future, and more. Irish Whip Fighting: Can you tell us a little bit about your recent loss to Kenny Florian? Was he different than what you had trained for?Din Thomas: No, Kenny was actually exactly doing what I expected him to do. Kenny is a technician and he fought a technical fight.I'm still pissed that I wasn't able to continue the fight. I tore my meniscus in two, among other structural damage to the inside of my knee during that first round and had to lay down and take a beating. I think it was shaping up to be a really terrific fight.IWF: What was your game plan going into the fight?DT: My game plan was to keep him going backwards and put pressure on him. I felt I was doing that. I was taking my lumps, trying to penetrate but I felt it was just a matter of time before I get inside and take advantage. IWF: Was the Florian fight the toughest fight that you have ever ...

Irish Whip Fighting Exclusive: Kenny Florian Interview
2007-10-04 23:49:00 In his first post-Thomas fight interview. Hear Kenny Florian talk about the Din Thomas fight, The Ultimate Fighter, and his future.Irish Whip Fighting: What was your game plan going into the Din Thomas fight?Kenny Florian: The game plan with Din was to be patient on the feet, technical and to pick my shots. I wanted to break his boxer's rhythm and frustrate him with kicks and movement. I also wanted to put a lot of pressure on him with takedowns and ground and pound. I wanted to mix it up on him and keep him guessing as to what I would do next.IWF: You also mentioned that as of that fight, you "got mean." Can you tell us about that?KF: It really wasn't that fight that started it. It was after the Sherk fight that got me to realize that you need to see each event as a true fight not a competition. You have to be mean. Your opponent is going to try to hurt you and you must hurt him first without mercy.IWF: You clearly dominated a very experienced fighter in Din Thomas. How does it f...

Kenny Florian vs Din Thomas Fight Results - Video Review Needed
2007-09-20 04:56:00  This fight was an interesting fight… (how descriptive), Kenny seemed to be doing very well on his feet against Din Thomas. Kenny was landing a lot of good kicks as well as punches. Din and Kenny went to the mat a few times and Din did an excellent job staying on top of Kenny and keeping Kenny off of himself. Late in the first round, Din shoots on Kenny, appears to blow out his left knee, and just lays there while Florian gets on tops, throws a series of punches (while Din just takes them without defense) and then loose with a rear naked choke to Florian. We’ll have to review the video, but it looks like Din blew out his left knee on the shoot.
