Dissin' da Dissident
2008-06-02 17:07:00
I'm sure most of you would have read about the fella who sent an email containing statements which amount to insulting a public servant. The public servant he targeted was Justice Belinda Ang. Justice Belinda is the judge overseeing the defamation case between Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.I tried leaving a comment on Gopalan Pallichadath Nair's blog. Unfortunately, his blog doesn't have a comment function. Weird ain't it? For someone who has so much to say about how Singapore is run, he sure isn't acceptive to comments and opinions.Anyhow, I did find a blog called Singapore Dissident that has the exact post that Nair posted on his blog. Click here to view the post. This was the comment I left on the blog...I totally disagree with everything that is mentioned in this post. I for one am happy with everything the PAP has done for this country. Singapore is THE place I want my son to grow up in. Kudos to MM Lee, PM Lee and the PAP for doing a fanta...

Bush Tucker: The Fatal Diversions of Would-Be Dissidents
2007-09-02 02:48:00
by Chris Floyd The ever-intrepid Arthur Silber has somehow procured an advance copy of General Petraeus' upcoming report on the "surge." You can check out this amazing feat of investigative journalism here: Conundrum. Silber has also identified the greatest threat to the life of the Republic — nay, to human civilization itself — that we face today: Tucker Carlson's pathetic fantasies about gay-bashing. (Yes, fantasy; I would bet $10 million of Dick Cheney's money that the little bow-tied twerp never went back to that bathroom — even with a big burly friend at his side — to confront anyone. He just thinks that's what a "real man" would do.) As Arthur points out, although the United States stands on the brink of another war of aggression whose evil consequences would far surpass those of the monstrous debacle in Iraq, it is Tucker Carlson's nasty aside that has commanded the passionate attention of the "progressive" world, which demands imm...

Former Soviet Dissident Warns For EU Dictatorship
2007-06-30 01:38:00
Bukovsky and BelienVladimir Bukovksy, the 63-year old former Soviet dissident, fears that the European Union is on its way to becoming another Soviet Union. In a speech he delivered in Brussels last week Mr Bukovsky called the EU a “monster” that must be destroyed, the sooner the better, before it develops into a fullfledged totalitarian state. Original article on Feb. 27, 2006 Read More… Paul Belien: You were a very famous Soviet dissident and now you are drawing a parallel between the European Union and the Soviet Union. Can you explain this? Vladimir Bukovsky: I am referrring to structures, to certain ideologies being instilled, to the plans, the direction, the inevitable expansion, the obliteration of nations, which was the purpose of the Soviet Union. Most people do not understand this. They do not know it, but we do because we were raised in the Soviet Union where we had to study the Soviet ideology in school and at university. The ultimate purpose of the Soviet Uni...

Seven Cuban dissidents freed
2007-04-25 17:13:00
HAVANA - The Cuban government has released seven dissidents from prison, including a 42-year-old man who had been behind bars for 17 years, dissident sources said on Tuesday.Six dissidents were released Tuesday after spending two years in prison for “public disorder,” ”posing a danger” and “insolence,” the sources said.Their release came two days after another prominent dissident, Jorge Luis Garcia Perez, 42, was freed after spending 17 years and 37 days in prison on charges of “verbal enemy propaganda,” ”attempted sabotage” and failing to respect Cuban leader Fidel Castro.Perez, known as Antunez, was arrested for speaking out against Castro, who leads the Americas’ only one-party communist regime, on March 15, 1990.Dissidents did not see the prisoners’ release as a goodwill gesture from the government, saying recent summary and secretive trials show that the government repression persists.“We don’t see anything special in this,” Elizardo Sanchez, who ...

by Charles Sullivanwww.dissidentvoice.orgJ-anuary 13, 2007Sometimes you look around and wonder how things could have gone so wrong so quickly. America has become the antithesis of everything she purports to be. We are the greatest purveyors of violence the world has ever known; the largest weapons dealers on earth; and death and misery are our principal exports. Everything is for sale here, even men's tormented souls -- at least, those who still possess them. Our imperial leader, an impish little man with clear sociopathic symptoms, is incapable of empathy for the struggles of the common people, as those born into wealth and privilege often are. The man with his finger on the nuclear detonator is mentally ill, incapable of remorse -- a fact that should terrify every world citizen. I do not say this out of malice or to demean the president; it is simply a statement of fact based upon quantifiable evidence that any student of psychology would easily recognize. The fact that such a misf...

by James Petraswww.dissidentvoice.orgJan-uary 13, 2007In the broadest and deepest sense, understanding how the US political system functions, the decisions of war and peace are taken, who gets what, how and why, requires that we address the question of 'Who rules America?' In tackling the question of 'ruling' one needs to clarify a great deal of misunderstandings, particularly the confusion between those who make governmental decisions and the socio-economic institutional parameters which define the interests to be served. 'Ruling' is exacting: it defines the 'rules' to be followed by the political and administrative decision-makers in formulating budgetary expenditures, taxes, labor and social legislation, trade policy, military and strategic questions of war and peace. The 'rules' are established, modified and adjusted according to the specific composition of the leading sectors of a ruling class (RC). Rules change with shifts in power within the ruling class. Shifts in p...

Today's Top American Dissident
2006-02-22 18:53:00
Colonel David Hackworth: A Great American Hero He was a harsh critic of inexperienced, ivory tower officers. Over 26 years he spent fully seven in combat. He was put in for the Medal of Honor three times; the last application is currently under review at the Pentagon. He was twice awarded the Army?s second highest honor for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross, along with 10 Silver Stars and eight Bronze Stars. When asked about his many awards, he always said he was proudest of his eight Purple Hearts and his Combat Infantryman?s Badge. A reputation won on the battlefield made it impossible to dismiss him when he went on the attack later as a critic of "careerism and incompetence in the military high command.?Hackworth left the military in 1971 and predicted that the Vietnam War was not winnable. He even accurately predicted the year that Saigon would fall. In the 1990s Hackworth joined in the battle over Gulf War Syndrome. For the first four years after the Gulf War, the military...
