Bob Barr Blasts District of Columbia, D.C. for Flouting Heller Decision on Gun Control July 21, 2008 3:25 pm EST Atlanta, GA -- “Citizens of Washington, D.C. and firearms rights organizations must be prepared to file a quick and clear challenge to the new Washington, D.C. gun control law designed to keep them disarmed,” says Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party candidate for president.  “The City Council is attempting to flout the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in Heller that explicitly affirmed an individual’s right to own firearms. The Council is disingenuously doing this by appearing to legalize gun ownership while restricting the right into ineffectiveness.” For instance, explains Barr, “the District of Columbia will continue to ban semi-automatic weapons, the most common kind of handgun in America. Moreover, residents will be required to keep their guns unloaded and either disassembled or disabled with a trigger lock.  Unfortunately, most criminals aren...

Obama, McCain win District of Columbia presidential primaries
2008-02-13 04:04:00
To the surprise of nobody in the freakin' universe, Barack Obama has won the District of Columbia Democratic presidential primary. Actual vote counts were delayed for more than an hour but early estimates finally showed Obama leading by a preposterous 50+ percentage point margin.John McCain was projected as the Republican presidential primary winner in the District of Columbia. D.C.'s Republican party is relatively moderate so the outcome was no surprise. Of course, D.C. Republican contingent is also very small so McCain's win there doesn't mean very much. The D.C. wins allowed Barack Obama and John McCain to sweep all three major jurisdictions aligned in the proclaimed Potomac Primary.

District of Columbia Circuit Court Restores Civil Liberty To D.C. Citizens
2007-03-10 13:44:02
Wow, it’s been a busy, busy day for me but you KNEW I would have to chime in on today’s news of our 2nd Amendment Civil Liberty to Keep And Bear Arms being upheld today by the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia. An American Citizen’s RTKBA was, indeed, ruled upon by a majority vote and held to pretty much have nothing at ALL to do with a Citizen having to be a member of the National Guard (i.e., “state militia”) to have this civil liberty protected. Also noteworthy in this decision, which packs a wallop to the “gun banners” nationwide, it was noted in the majority opinion of Senior Circuit Judge Laurence H. Silberman that the 2nd Amendment civil liberty was intended to help the populace maintain their ability to respond to “… the depredations of a tyrannical government (or a threat from abroad)“. From the interesting topical blog, How Appealing: BREAKING NEWS — Divided three-judge D.C. Circuit panel holds th...
