2012-01-04 09:01:00
Electronic health records (EHRs) are valuable for medical research and clinical trials. Researchers need EHRs to perform clinical trials on new medicines, for example. However, EHRs contain sensitive data and should not reveal the identity of the patient. Therefore EHRs must be anonymized or aggregated before they are released to the clinical investigators. read more

Michael Jackson was killed by a doctor?
2009-08-26 03:09:00
No surprise that Michael Jackson may have been murdered. LaToya said it immediately. MJ's addiction (or fondness) for painkillers, wasn't just a problem for the pop star. The sycophants around him enabled him to hurt himself...and Dr. Conrad Murray's notorious medical prescripts were the deadly potion that cut off the entertainer with the quickness. How quickly can a doctor throw the Hippocratic Oath out of the window? Just say...aaahhhh and Propofol.Knowing that Michael needed to get some rest at night, Conrad Murray had the answer. He didn't prescribe Tylenol for Michael's pain, or Nytol from GlaxoSmithKline. He prescribe Godzilla -  an anesthetic - to kill the insomnia of Michael Jackson.Conrad Murray choosing not to sign the death certificate could also be a sign. Rule...
Man Claims Doctor Left Bracket in His Jaw
2009-08-24 21:59:00
A complaint was filed today against Christ Memorial Hospital and an unnamed doctor by a man who claims the doctor removed only 7 of 8 brackets inserted in the man's mouth after a broken jaw. Scottie Paul Smith, representing himself, states in the complaint that in June of 2007 he woke up in Christ Memorial Hospital with his "mouth shut closed" because of a broken jaw.  He was told to see the unnamed doctor for follow-ups, which he did, and when he experienced pain in his jaw after having the brackets removed, he assumed it was a result of his injury.  However, as stated in the complaint, Smith "just now noticed it's a bracket left in my mouth." Smith is seeking $1.2...
Florida doctor loses job after criticizing Dunkin’ Donuts
2009-08-14 22:12:00
I’m not known for subtlety. Even when I do sprinkle opinions with jokes and an ounce of charm, people go batshit crazy. Especially when the message is hard to swallow. I’ve learned that if you stick your neck out, sometimes it gets chopped off. Dr. Jason Newsom of the Bay County Health Department learned this lesson recently. A 38-year-old former Army doctor who served in Iraq, Newsom returned home to Panama City a few years ago to run the Bay County Health Department and launched a one-man war on obesity by posting sardonic warnings on an electronic sign outside: “Sweet Tea (equals) Liquid Sugar.” “Hamburger (equals) Spare Tire.” “French Fries (equals) Thunder Thighs.” He also called out KFC by name to make people think twice about fried chicken. Then he parodied “America Runs on Dunkin’,” the doughnut chain’s slogan, with: “America Dies on Dunkin’.” A few lawyers in town, who own Dunkin&rsqu...

David Tennant of 'Doctor Who' the love at Comic-Con
2009-07-26 22:21:00
One thing was obvious when David Tennant came onstage for the "Doctor Who" panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday: Fans do not want his time as the Time Lord to end. Fans shouted "We love you!" and "Don't go!" and "Love your hair!" They stood and shrieked and cheered as Tennant, not unlike is quirky Doctor, ran in front of the stage with his arms in the air. "I love you too, each one of you, but in a slightly different, individual way," Tennant, wearing a sparkly Stormtrooper T-shirt, said at one point to the crowd's pleasure....

Also Saturday, the roommate drama "Being Human"--with its fantasy twist--premieres the first of six excellent episodes. (Well, at least the first three are.) I'll be chatting with the stars and creators of "Doctor Who" and "Being Human" on Sunday at Comic-Con, do shoot me a note if you have questions for them....
Michael Jackson's Doctor Is Not a Suspect
2009-07-24 22:44:00
MTV is reporting that a  spokeswoman for Edward Chernoff, an attorney representing Michael Jackson's interests, says that Jackson's personal Doctor Conrad Murray is not a suspect in any homocide investigation. Murray's behaviour has been highly scrutinized by many in the media, focusing on the pain killers, and perscriptions that Jackson was ingesting in his final days. Much speculation has concluded that he was negligent in the least, and perhaps even acted criminally by perscribing and administering drugs drugs in California, where Murray is not liscensed to do so. However, the Jackson attorney spokesperson insisted that Murray's statements were sought by police investigators only insofar as he is a wittness to the death of the King of Pop. "I do not know what they are looking for, and I can't possibly tell you how anything they took in any way connects with the death of Michael Jackson," Chernoff told the times. Dr. Murray had been hired as Jackson's personal physician,...

3 Reasons Why Murdering an Abortion Doctor Isn?t Being Called ?Terrorism?
2009-06-03 07:02:00
"...Timothy McVeigh bombing the Oklahoma City building is not terrorism."By Will PotterSimulposted with Green is the New RedJun 2nd, 2009Dr. George Tiller, one of the few late-term abortion providers in the country, was murdered inside his church on Sunday, and the only suspect is Scott Roeder, a man The New York Times said ?had professed an anti-government, anti-abortion philosophy.? U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder called the murder an ?abhorrent act of violence,? but he hasn?t used the word ?terrorism.? Not once. Why?As a bit of context, if you?re new to this website, the FBI labels the animal rights and environmental movements as the ?number one domestic terrorism threat? even though those activists have never harmed a human being. At the very worst, underground groups like the Animal Liberation Front and Earth Liberation Front have released animals from fur farms, destroyed SUVs and set fire to empty buildings. When animal rights activists or environmental activists are arrested...
Abortion Doctor Killed in Church
2009-06-01 19:53:00

Killing Abortion Doctor = Terrorism
2009-06-01 00:04:00
Throwing acid in a young girl’s face to prevent her from going to school. Strapping on a bomb and detonating it in a crowded restaurant. Walking into a church and killing a man who performs abortions. How is one of the above acts any different from the other? Terrorism is defined as the systematic use of terror or violence especially as a means of coercion. Dr. George Tiller was killed today. The goal was not only to end his life, but to send a clear message to abortion providers all over the country. And the rest of us, too. Free-thinking and rational people who want to live by the rule of law should be alarmed. This act of terrorism by a radical anti-abortion wingnut must remind us to be ever-vigilant when it comes to extremists in our own country as well as overseas. The fact that Dr. Tiller was murdered during a church service is mind-boggling. The anti-abortion movement that advocates stalking doctors and harming them is, at its core, motivated by religious fanatics (as ...

Doctors: Do you get patients asking you things like "What can I do about this sagging lip, these wrinkles near my eyes, the fact that my right cheek is shaped differently than my left, making me freak out every time I look in the mirror?"No? Well, you're clearly not MY doctor. But I bet you get a lot of questions anyway about how to reverse or stall the effects of aging and gravity on your patients. And I bet you'd like to be able to tell them: "Oh, I can help you with that by using a relatively simple process here in my office called "Dermal Filler Injections." But you haven't been able to do that, yet, because you didn't know anything about Dermal Filler Injections or how to administer them or where to get them. Here you go: Aesthetic Video Source has come to your rescue with their new DVD, "The Complete Guide to Dermal Filler Injections", an instructional video that shows the how and why and wherefore and whatnot of Dermal Filler Injections. He gave me some patches for the horrible pain in the tops of my feet.He continues to say, I have Lupus and I continue to say, I do not.He did talk to me about our insurance problem. He said, he would continue to see me no matter what. I am so very grateful. The fibromyalgia can be so very hard to handle that sometimes just talking to him about this can be helpful. So, I have some relief about the insurance stuff and I put a patch on my foot last night and have had no pain. It is an anti inflamatory patch. Thank you God
For The 100th Time, There’s A Doctor In The HOUSE
2009-02-02 16:23:00
Who could have imagined that a pill-popping, insult-tossing, female-harassing, patient-loathing doc would wind up stealing the hearts of millions? Or that the wildly-intelligent Dr. Gregory House, MD would worm his way into our hearts after being paired with one of the most insipidly simple shows to come down the pike, AMERICAN IDOL? And yet as the HOUSE prepares to air it’s 100th episode (tonight at 9PM on FOX, Global in Canada), there’s no denying that while many of us struggle to understand the medical intricacies which take center stage each week, the prickly physician who seems to lack any sort of impulse control when it comes to speaking his thoughts has wormed his way into our hearts. As with many classic anti-heroes, behavior we inexplicably find charming on the screen would appall in real life. (Which explains why Dr. House showed up on the list of television’s rudest personas over at howrudeareyou.com … although, to his credit, he didn’t take...

The Doctor Anonymous Show Featured on iTunes
2008-12-10 09:32:00
When I was checking out the iTunes store last weekend, I was pleasantly surprised to find the image above. What is it? Well, it's The Doctor Anonymous Show in the "New and Notable" section of iTunes. Of course, the show is in the podcast section of iTunes. But, it's under the "Health" category and "Alternative Health" sub-category. Now, I had no idea that the show was going to be on iTunes. I had nothing to do with that. I would imagine that BlogTalkRadio makes a feed available to iTunes and that's how it got there. And, there is no "medicine" category at BTR, so that's probably how the show ended up in the iTunes health category. As I was exploring more the "Health" podcast category of iTunes, I saw the image above. It is the "Featured" section. And, do you see the lower right corner of the graphic above? Well, it's The Doctor Anonymous Show featured on ITunes! Now, granted, it's on the last page of the "Alternative Health" section, but I'm featured, baby - at least for now.S...

Doctor, Get out the Sticky tape: We need an X Ray
