Internet, un dono per l'umanità

Così Papa Benedetto XVI ha definito la rete: uno strumento utile, anzi un dono. Tanto da consolidare la presenza in rete del Vaticano con un canale video su YouTube dedicato alle attività del pontefice. Insomma internet è uno strumento e come tale, se utilizzato bene, porta benefici è positività. Per fortuna sul mainstream non passano solo notizie di frodi online e cronaca nera legata a Facebook: ogni tanto capita qualcosa che offre una percezione della rete come strumento di comunicazione nuovo, completo e aggregante. In questo caso si tratta anche di una citazione decisamente autorevole. La mia speranza è che si riduca l'allarmismo tipico dei servizi giornalistici e che, di conseguenza, anche i non "addetti ai lavori" inizino ad utilizzare internet senza paura, ma con la giusta e adeguata attenzione. I have found "my bar". And thankfully, it is just two blocks away from my house. I started going to neighborhood bar and grills during the summer. I've tried out a few in my North Center neighborhood in Chicago. Some were too filled with children (why there were more kids in a bar than adults; I'll never know) others were too pricey for what I got. Then, I went to O'Donovan's. I've lived in this neighborhood forever and I had never gone in. Finally, I did and I've been making up lost time ever since. The burgers are good. I couldn't really tell you what the other food on the menu tastes like, well, because, I only order the burgers. I tell myself each time that I'll order something different. There's chicken fingers, loads of salads, and big dinners. But I always go back to the burgers. They're big but not monstrous. The fries are plentiful and crispy. The drinks are cheap. On Mondays the hamburgers are a mere $2 but I think the usual price of $7 is just fin...

One of the byproducts of animal racing industries, both the horses and the greyhounds, is the production or a lot of animals that the trainers don’t want because they’re not fast enough. When it comes to the horses many end up as pet food in the knackery, although a few find good homes that patiently train the highly strung race horse. For the greyhounds it’s a similar, but often less public story. In Melbourne there are a few greyhound racing tracks, and more than a few greyhounds. The dogs that aren’t fast enough are often also unsuitable for pets because of the strong tendency to chase and catch things that run, including children and other pets. As a result of the dodgy donations by David Abrahams, one of Labours top donors, Willie Haughley, has said he will stop donating to the party until the funding crisis is over. When someone is banged up, presumably.If those enthusiastic enough to give money to political parties are stopping doing so it's only indicative of the wider distrust with which people regard politicians. Donorgate has seriously undermined Labour and looks even worse because of Brown's constant preaching about his moral compass.In scandals such as this, all politicians get tarred with the same brush which is why Cameron has frequently been heard saying that "we all get things wrong in party funding" in order not to appear as someone engaging in ecstatic schadenfreude at Labour's expense. The latest news on a few fantasy starters coming back from injury this week.  Maybe.   Marshawn Lynch, Buffalo - Lynch finally practiced this week and should be back as the Bills starter this week.   If he's going to play you should feel free to start him as the Bills won't rush their franchise back early against the 0-12 Dolphins, especially when backup Fred Jackson played well last week. Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia - McNabb has been practicing and looks ready to go this week against the Giants.  With the Giants giving up 19 passing touchdowns so far this season (6th worst in the league), this is a good opportunity for McNabb owners. A laptop was stolen in Minneapolis a couple of weeks ago while personnel were preparing for a blood drive.  The laptop was inside a briefcase, so it looks to be a random theft in which the perp scored big time.   A spokersperson for Memorial Blood Centers said that they?ve begun to contact blood donors.  Furthermore, they announced that there are multiple passwords and other technologies protecting the password.  I cannot find any references to what these technologies might be, but I can understand why the blood bank wouldn?t be specific about it: when combined with the statement, ?We also immediately implemented additional measures to further protect against unauthorized access to donor data,? The donargate scandal extends into new territory tonight. The Daily Mail have a report into donations of £830,000 in the past eight months received by Labour, from Iranian-born car dealer Mahmoud Khayami. His first donation of £500,000 was made the day after he qualified to donate. Questions are being asked as to whether Mr Khayami had any help getting onto the electoral roll.A Labour spokesman said: "As far as we know, this donation is in order. But of course we will look into all these issues as part of our ongoing internal inquiry." I've just watch Keith Vaz blatantly spin this whole dodgy donation fiasco in an attempt to pass the buck to the Tories. He's just had the neck to tell the BBC that this is all to do with the conservatives walking away from negotiations on donation capping. The Tories walked away from the negotiations because Labour refused to include the unions into the capping system.And this is why:The Government gave £12.8m to the unions (Modernisation Fund). The unions gave £17m in donations to the Labour Party.That?s money from the TAX PAYER to the GOVERNMENT - from the GOVERNMENT to the UNIONS - and from the UNIONS to the LABOUR PARTY.Can anyone spot a link? It looks like Lane Garrison has been assigned to serve time at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, CA. He was transferred from the Twin Towers Faciliy on November 20th.
