Dreamcast PC

Fake Dreamcast Site Scams Users - SendMeRSS
2008-03-12 15:05:00 Fake Dreamcast Site Scams Users What was thought to be a Sega-managed Dreamcast site has turned out to be a fraud designed to trick visitors out of personal information. Visitors to Dreamcast.com were prompted to answer the question "Do you still own a Dreamcast?" by entering personal information such as their console's serial number. Their reward, after accepting a user end agreement, was supposed to be their very own dreamcast.com email address. The whole thing was a scam. Sega no longer owns the Dreamcast.com, and whoever does is trading off gamers' good will and affection for the console to steal visitors' personal information. It's still unclear what the nefarious no-gooder is doing with the information obtained by the trickery, but they're probably not sending out free copies of Chu Chu Rocket.Oops, Sega didn't really request your Dreamcast information [Talking About Games!] Link - Tue, 11 Mar 2008 12:01:18 GMT - Feed (1 subs) Sen...

Sega says: Dreamcast.com fake
2008-03-12 14:28:00 Recently Sega Japan has told Dreamcast owners not to fill out their email addresses and console serial numbers that Dreamcast.com was requesting to give fans a Dreamcast email address. Why? Because the website is a complete FAKE! Apparently Sega don’t even own the domain and thus the Dreamcast logos on-site were being used illegally. While the ...
Gamers duped, Dreamcast.com not hosted by Sega
2008-03-10 03:16:00 Sega apparently wasn't the one behind asking gamers, "Do you still own a Dreamcast?" Dreamcast.com was updated Saturday, sparking speculation from fans of a possible revival from Sega, which ended production of the console back in 2001. As it turns out, the domain name "dreamcast.com" hasn't been owned by Sega for years. The site update for registration of a user.dreamcast.com account successfully collected Dreamcast serial numbers, as well as email addresses, from gamers around the Web. The account application page on the site now reads, "Dreamcast website is temporarily unavailable. Please try back later. We apologize for any inconvenience." The website has been brought to the attention of Sega, as well as the current host of Dreamcast.com, HostDime, Inc. "We will look into this issue," HostDime Abuse and Security analyst Charlie S. told us. Sega may request that the site be taken down, he said. Sega was not available for comment. Games I?d love to see on Next-Gen consoles (Part 1: Justice Gakuen)
2008-02-12 23:02:00 This is the first post of a series in wich I'll talk about some old games or game series that I'd like to see again on the next generation consoles (whichever is good, I'm not format-picky, as long as i get them). The games you'll see in this kind of posts are games that I would define milestones of the gaming history, and that in my own opinion, don't deserve to be lost in the sands of time. The first one is the Justice Gakuen series (by Capcom), first published in as Shiritsu Justice Gakuen (Rival Schools in the US) on the Playstation and then as Moero! Justice Gakuen (Project Justice in the US and in Europe). Both games were wonderful examples of fast paced and exciting action, coupled with a compelling and original storyline focused on the rivalry between a few Japanese high schools. The characters also had great charisma, placing the foundations for an awesome series. One of the most interesting features was a "school life" mode, in the form of a quite extensive dating game...

No Dreamcast 2 says Sega after patent rumors (aka 9-9-2009 believe!)
2007-12-10 16:08:00 Sorry Sega fans, no Dreamcast 2 for you. Sega denied rumors that they would be getting back into hardware manufacturing of videogame consoles. Senior Sega US spokesman Charlie Scibetta clarified the situation by explain that the company “has no plans to get back into the console business because it’s very happy being a platform agnostic company.” Rumors ...
Sega Dreamcast Back? Are You Kidding?
2007-12-10 00:37:00 You hear some crazy stuff on the grapevine but this has to be one of the craziest stories! Rumours go that Sega is going to make a come back with the Sega Dreamcast! How did this all get started? Well it seems that Sega renewed some copyrights back in August and updated some of the features, to include such things as "floor pads" which might lead you to think that they are planning a comeback to rival the Wii, and maybe to deliver a "Wii Fit" type package!I imagine its more that some of their back catalogue is going to be made available, maybe with updates to include new hardware than they are trying to protect. Who knows! However its a nice story and I for one would welcome Sega back into to the melee. They say that they are "very happy being a platform agnostic company" and hey, I'd agree with that, but to survive in this market, they need to start producing some quality games and not relying on re-hashed hits.
Dreamcast 2 is just a rumor
2007-12-07 22:24:00 Bad news to SEGA fans, although it this is quite expected but SEGA is not planning to develop a new console system. SEGA has dismissed any plans to re-enter the console market and plans to remain a 3-rd party developer which they say is more lucrative.Quite so, if they want to beat the Wii or the Xbox360, they'll probably need something more than Sonic and Virtua Figther.

The description of the videogame system in the new trademark application is very different from what Dreamcast really is.I would certain hope this would be true as SEGA console systems are still one of the best ever produced. Rumor: Sega Pondering Dreamcast 2 - SendMeRSS
2007-12-07 03:15:00 Rumor: Sega Pondering Dreamcast 2 Sega has applied to trademark the name "Dreamcast," prompting speculation that the company is pondering a return to the hardware business. The application, which was filed in August, covers home consoles, controllers, and "video game interactive controller, namely, hand held pads, and floor pads or mats; joysticks for video games; computer cursor control devices, namely, computer mouse; flash memory cards; video game software, computer game programs." This may be nothing more than an effort by Sega to protect the Dreamcast brand, though apparently the original trademark filing for the name is still active. It's interesting to note the differences between the two filings, however, in particular the "floor pads or mats." Goodbye Dreamcast, goodbye.
2007-09-13 09:55:00 Ahh, the Dreamcast. The little machine that could. Sega’s last hurrah. Sega Dreamcast History
2006-10-16 21:01:00 The Sega Dreamcast (Japanese: code-named "Blackbelt," "Dural," and "Katana" during development) was Sega's seventh & final video game console and the successor to the company's Sega Saturn. An attempt to recapture the console market with a next-generation system, it was designed to supersede Sony's PlayStation and Nintendo 64, and although generally considered to be "ahead of its time" (literally fifteen months before the PlayStation 2 and three years (based on original release dates, not U.S. release dates) before GameCube or Xbox) it failed to gather enough momentum before the release of the PlayStation 2 in March 2000. After the Dreamcast was discontinued, Sega withdrew entirely from the console hardware business.HistoryWhen the time came to design the successor to the Sega Saturn, the new President of Sega, Shoichiro Irimajiri, took the unusual step of hiring an outsider. He hired Tatsuo Yamamoto from IBM Austin to head a skunkworks group to develop the next-generation consol... |
