It?s probably too late now, but the other three teams should be screaming to anyone who will listen about the unfairness of the situation. Five Duke players shouldn?t even be playing this season, and yet they ...

Duke Lacrosse Members - Lives Shattered: When the Truth No Longer Matters
2007-08-05 16:36:00 I read all of Carrie K.Hutchens articles, but this one I just had to share. You can post comments under the post on my blog Barbara's Journey Toward Justice Here Comments are moderated. Lives Shattered: When the Truth No Longer Matters By Carrie K. Hutchens The madness that is over-taking this world never fails to amaze me! I continue to wonder just how all this is possible. When did we stop being, as a whole, compassionate people with the ability to comprehend and reason? When did that all happen? Is there a cure for the insanity that is devouring us? Mike Nifong, the district attorney from North Carolina, got caught withholding evidence that PROVED the accused were innocent of the charges against them and caught lying to the court. That is spelled, P-R-O-V-E-D and C-A-U-G-H-T! Yet, there are those who are still talking as though the three Duke lacrosse team members (accused of rape) are guilty and that their money simply bought them out of it. Excuse me?!?!? Duke Lacrosse Stripper Case
2007-07-01 23:13:00 Many blame Mike Nifong for the Duke lacrosse stripper fiasco. However, an overlooked cause is the political pressure applied by the media, feminist organizations and civic activists groups against Durham County for prosecution of the lacrosse players. Initially, the american media's coverage of the incident was based on political ideology rather than evidience. When the Duke players were not immediately suspended, a CNN reporter stated "I`m so glad they didn`t miss a lacrosse game over a little thing like gang rape!" ABC News claimed students could see "the margin for abuse in alcohol and testosterone-driven settings". Newsweek stated "the young woman who suffered injuries that appear to be caused by a sexual assault". The media also stated Duke University along with the lacrosse team appeared to be covering up the incident. All of these statements were based on political agenda - in this case the promotion of feminist ideology. The lacrosse players were portrayed as typical men w...
Nifong Disbarred[J. Mark English]
2007-06-18 03:31:00 Former North Carolina DA has been disbarred. Mike Nifong can no longer practice law. Hopefully he will soon be behind bars. Here is a quick bit about the subject from My Way News:District Attorney Mike Nifong was disbarred Saturday for his "selfish" rape prosecution of three Duke University lacrosse players - a politically motivated act, his judges said, that he inexplicably allowed to fester for months after it was clear the defendants were innocent."This matter has been a fiasco. There's no doubt about it," said F. Lane Williamson, the chairman of the three-member disciplinary committee that stripped the veteran prosecutor of his state law license.Even Nifong and his attorneys supported the decision, though the veteran prosecutor refused to admit to the end that no crime occurred at a March 2006 lacrosse team party. The committee said Nifong manipulated the investigation to boost his chances of winning his first election for Durham County district attorney. In doing so, he commi...

The Duke Lacrosse Case: An Idelogical Critique
2007-04-12 22:33:00 The decision yesterday to drop all charges against the three Duke lacrosse players accused (at least initially) of raping a woman who was performing as an exotic dancer at a team party has brought up one of the ongoing questions in my mind about this case: why did this issue become politicized in the way it did?In this post, I offer one take on this question through the use of ideological criticism.Ideological rhetorical criticism focuses on the ways power is created, maintained, used, and abused in society, and the ways in which language is used in these processes. Such critical approaches would include feminist, Marxist, and postcolonial criticism, although ideological criticism need not fall into any of these categories.Part of the role of the ideological critic is to use criticism to advance a social or political cause through questioning and investigating how language is used by power structures to conceal and maintain themselves. In other words, ideological critics tend to wea...
All Sex-Assault Charges Against Duke Lacrosse Players Dropped; Players Glad
2007-04-12 04:12:00 Well, I'm glad it's over too. The basic mistake people made was to use this case to make a larger societal point. Liberals used this to make a point about priveledged white students and conservatives used the case as indicative of anti-white bigotry and liberal blindness. I recognized this error early on and avoided the whole issue until it was resolved. My plea to my fellow Americans: Don't worry about the larger societal implication of everything. Don't root for anybody. Just hope that justice prevails. If they were guilty, they should have been punished. They weren't and they will be let go-justice. Justice also suggests Nifong be punished somehow; and not for incompetence (lot's would be punished wouldn't they?) but for withholding evidence he know would exonnerate the players. It seems very bad for public servants to root for incarceration. Story below: ... Read more!

Duke lacrosse defender seeks federal intervention
2006-12-27 07:37:01 I’ve kept pretty quiet about the Duke lacrosse team rape allegations, but this new development raises some odd questions.
