Asi es señores, como yo, el gran y famoso duke está de regreso con una nueva entrega de violencia extrema y muchas mujeres llamada Duke Nukem Forever. La editora encargada del juego (3d realms) prometió que estarÃa listo hace ya algunos años, e incluso habÃa dado fecha de lanzamiento para el ps2 y el Xbox. Sin embargo, el juego fué cancelado para éstas plataformas, pero finalmente se ha anunciado que el proyecto sigue en marcha y verá la luz dentro de poco para pc, xbox360 y muy probablemente ps3. It's been 10 long years now and well I'm a gaming blogger..who would have thought huh?Anyway, this isn't about me, but the fact, that we could see Duke Nukem Forever, which has almost been termed as an "abandonware", come to life. Sólo así logro explicarme que 3D Realms, tras más de 10 años de dimes y diretes, de anuncios y contraanuncios, de afirmaciones y rectificaciones, haya avanzado que en las próximas horas mostrará el primer tráiler de Duke Nukem Forever, el mayor ejemplo de vaporware que he conocido en el mundillo de los videojuegos. ¿La publicación de este vídeo implica que DNF va a salir en breve?. Ni mucho menos. Con 3D Realms cualquier cosa es posible. Baste señalar que el desarrollo de este juego comenzó en abril de 1997 y, si mis cálculos no me fallan, estamos a puntito de dar la bienvenida al año 2008. 2007-02-09 11:29:03 Anunciado 1000 veces y cancelado en otras tantas ocasiones, Duke Nukem Forever se ha convertido en el cuento de nunca acabar, en una chirigota permanente que ha hecho correr ríos de tinta y ha servido para llenar páginas y páginas de las revistas de videojuegos. Pero tras años de retrasos, parece que finalmente el juego saldrá el 29 de septiembre. Eso es almenos lo que anuncia Amazon en su web británica, donde además dan el precio que tendrá en las islas: 24,99 libras. Con los antecedentes que hay, no seré yo el que ponga la mano en el fuego por nada que tenga que ver con Duke Nukem Forever, pero a tenor de la reputación de Amazon da la sensación que esta vez la cosa va en serio.

Muchos piensan que el desarrollo del juego está parado desde hace varios años y sólo hay unos que otros rastros de que el proyecto está vivo, como ésta imagen en tamaño miniatura, que George Broussard puso en un post de un foro de Shacknews en donde se ve al protagonista del juego. En este 2007 se cumplen 10 años del comienzo del desarrollo del vaporware más famoso del mundo; después de numerosos cambios en el motor de renderizado del juego, esperemos que lo tomen con más seriedad y ahora sí saquen de una vez por todas el juego.
