The Dutchess and The Duke - She?s The Dutchess, He?s The Duke
2008-08-18 04:35:00
The Dutchess (Kimberly Morrison) and the Duke (Jesse Lortz) initially met in the short-lived post-millennial R&B outfit The Flying Dutchmen, and regrouped a few years later in The Sultanas, a modern girl group that never got off the ground. Given the nostalgic bent of those first two outings, it?s not surprising the pair is still ...

Feinstein not thrilled with Duke?s new AD
2008-06-06 05:26:00
Story by Patrick Hite patrick@accnation.com John Feinstein has never hidden his dislike for former Duke athletics director Joe Alleva. A few weeks ago, when Feinstein, a Duke graduate, joined me on the ACC Nation podcast, he almost sounded giddy when asked about Alleva’s decision to take the AD job at LSU. “I guess the 15 letters of recommendation ...
Surprise: Elusive Duke Nukem Forever Looks Kinda Badass
2008-06-06 04:49:00
New footage of former vaporware title Duke Nukem Forever surfaced today, and it looks pretty good. Next step: launch date! Maybe I'll pull this off yet... There's still no release date, and the console version is as-of-yet unconfirmed, but nevertheless new footage sprang up today of Duke Nukem Forever. The big surprise? It looked somewhat decent. Maybe not 10-year delay decent, but worthy of a look. The footage, found at Shacknews, is the first new media to be released for the game since a teaser was released in December. The trailer is part of a larger collection of clips, so be patient or fast forward to find it."This was a snippet from one level inside Hoover dam, for a few minutes. There are large outdoor environments, too, and tons of stuff not seen here," said Duke Nukem curator and director George Broussard. "I wasn't even sure they were going to show game footage as the original deal was to just film Jason playing the game, and a reaction. They cut in a few scenes here and...

Duke lacrosse has unfair advantage
2008-05-22 16:04:00
Column by Patrick Hite patrick@accnation.com Duke is one of four teams left standing as the men?s lacrosse semifinals are set for this weekend. It?s probably too late now, but the other three teams should be screaming to anyone who will listen about the unfairness of the situation. Five Duke players shouldn?t even be playing this season, and yet they ...

Victoria Beckham Dines At Beach Duke
2008-05-19 20:15:00
Last week Victoria Beckham was dining in one of the poshest restaurants in London, yesterday Victoria and Cruz went to Malibu Beach to dine at Duke?s restaurant where she met up with some friends for a quick bite to eat.So, where were Posh?s other boys? Apparently they were taking swimming lessons with Heidi Klum?s kids. Victoria has become close friends with the supermodel since her appearance on Project Runway and now the friends have begun taking turns carpooling their kids to various after school activities.I love how normal she is despite the cameras in her face all the time.VB fashion watchers will recognise Victoria's dress as the same Giambattista Valli dress she wore in Italy when she attended a dinner with TomKat during their wedding weekend. Duke Faux Rape: Summa cum loony
2008-05-18 03:17:00
Crystal Gail Mangum has graduated from North Carolina Central University,  two of the innocent young men she falsely accused fo rape have not yet graduated. Kristin Butler, Chronicle (Duke University), Summa cum loony: In reality, [Crystal Gail] Mangum-who arrived at the lacrosse players’ party so drunk and high she could barely stand-may have feared another psychiatric commitment the morning of March 14, 2006, and so she accused three men of rape to garner sympathy. As an aside, if anyone at NCCU still believes her story, I would invite them to review court records indicating Mangum had DNA from two unidentified men in her rectum; two more in her pubic region; one man in her vagina; and four to five men on her panties-none of whom were lacrosse players (a physical impossibility because Mangum said her attackers wore no condoms during the “rape”). It would be nice to think that Mangum has turned her life around, but I’d kind of doubt it. Hat Tip:  Ace. ...

Bye-bye Boise (hello D.C.?)
2008-05-15 20:47:00
Column by Patrick Hite patrick@accnation.com Most of the news coming out of the ACC’s spring meetings was expected — no 18-game schedule in basketball or 9-game schedule in football– but I thought the best news this week was that, after 2008, the ACC won’t be affiliated with the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho. Despite what John Swofford said ...

Should ACC hoops split into divisions?

The ACC’s athletics directors will discuss a possible 18-game schedule for men’s basketball at next week’s spring meetings.
