These are important and exciting times for members and supporters of the Party who will be encouraged to hear from Eamonn that Labour's core values are not for changing. I look forward to working with Eamonn and the new Deputy Leader as he embarks on his Project of Renewal for the Party and the country. In a straight talking, straight to the point speech Eamonn said "I want to see the US military out of Shannon and I do not want to see any Irish facility used for the conduct of the Iraq war" He can't be much more clearer than that.It is refreshing to hear this type of unambiguous statement from a potential party leader. Issues such as the use of Shannon Airport by the US Military do matter and we must take the lead in the campaign to bring this to an end. The Labour Party has been to the forefront of the campaign to end the use of Shannon by the US Military. And now with the sellout by the Green Party on the issue we must continue to lead this campaign. Keep it up Eamonn.

2007-08-29 16:18:00 This week the Irish Examiner published a letter I wrote regarding the future of the Labour Party following the resignation of Pat Rabbitte as leader. The debate that is currently ongoing both within and outside the party must act as a catalyst for much needed change within the party. In my opinion there has been too much emphasis on electoral strategy and not enough on organisation and policy. There is also a need for the party to establish itself firmly as a campaigning party and to become proactive rather than reactive on key issues. The letter as published by the Irish Examiner does not set out to answer all the questions but rather to contribute in some small way to the debate. I look forward to hearing the candidates for the leadership outline their vision for the party over the next couple of months . As things stand at the moment only Eamonn Gilmore has declared that he will be a candidate. However it is expected that others will declare by the weekend.

2006-10-28 11:39:02 Today ,I am putting a little focus on Eamon. Considered by many as a one hit wonder ,I always had a little thing for him. I mean by that ,I think he had guts to come out with “Fuck it” as a single ,few years back. He was supposed to drop an album this summer,but I never heard anything more on the matter. Anyway it seems that this album didn’t get any push from the label,since the first single (How Could U (Bring Him Home)) more or less flopped. From my point of view this was a mistake,the album is way better than 50 percent of what you can find on the charts these days. Vocally and lyrically ,he has matured and I do hope the world has a chance to hear him. If crappy music gets released to a high level ,why not give Eamon his chance to shine.
