The Waco-McLennan County Public Health District has Local Food Inspection information posted on the Internet as well as broadcasted weekly on the Waco City Cable Channel. Request the chef to make your order with less oil and leave out the cream and/or butter - most chefs are happy to oblige .Have salads without the dressing. Try using lime juice instead. Ask for the weight watcher's menu - most restaurants have one .Select primarily fish, poultry, or veal in preference to red meat . Opt for low-fat desserts, like sorbet or fresh fruit cup. Why I hate eating out
2008-03-07 16:37:00
You may be surprised to know that paying $10 for a $2 meal is not my biggest problem with eating out. Rather it’s the abundance of choices on the menu. I don’t like choices. Why do I have to spend time reading a 10 page booklet to decide what to eat? If I go out ...
(Day 281 / -125 lbs.) Eating Out Under Control
2008-02-26 19:04:00
My wife and I were invited to lunch by some friends the other day. This is a rare event for me- not so much due to a lack of lunch opportunities but my own neurotic fear of eating at restaurants. Perhaps my trepidation comes from watching too many (ugh!) "Dirty Dining" segments on the local news, or maybe it's the fear of a super-sized, gut-busting carb-fest-- I dunno but I do know that eating out just isn't one of my favorite things. Still, I like these particular friends and they did offer to buy- so off we went. These friends are great people; they're upbeat, motivated, and energetic. They have a great family and do things I like to do and things I'd like to do but haven't discovered yet. They're a great source of ideas and motivation and I'm better off for knowing them. They're also the people who provided the initial inspiration that got me off my ass and working toward living a healthier life. They've done it themselves. It's important to surround yourself with ...

Eating Out: Breakfast at the Sandwich Cellar
2008-02-16 08:50:00
If you fancy a slap-up English breakfast for a change, you could do worse than visit the sandwich cellar on Ras Abu Aboud Road.Don't make the same mistake we made - when we first arrived we thought the place was shut, as, from the outside, it looked dark. Perhaps they need a sandwich board outside!Inside the cafe is cheerfully decorated with all sorts of odds and ends calculated to make you homesick for the England of yesteryear: a sort of greasy spoon with attitude. For breakfast we settled for the full monty: sausage, bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and hot toast, all served with freshly made orange juice and a huge pot of tea.Obviously, the bacon and sausages will be made with pork substitutes, but while scoffing away with an appetite honed by months without an unhealthy British breakfast, we didn't notice. While we didn't try any of the other items (we were too full), there are a number of other dishes on the menu. These included some British stalwarts: Bangers n' Mash...

Eating out in Sweden !
2007-12-02 15:50:00
Sweden has attained an international reputation for culinary excellence in recent years and standards are high at all levels. You will also find all the usual fast-food outlets and pizzerias, and if you're after a good value, tasty snack, you're never far from a hot dog stand selling popular "varmkorv" (from just SEK 10). A "Dagens rätt" (dish of the day) is available in most restaurants at lunchtime, which is served from about 11 am to 2 pm. It costs from about SEK 50 for a main course (often with a choice), bread and butter, salad, soft drink and coffee. There are plenty of cafés and cafeterias for lighter snacks. Welcome to SWEDEN

Kelly's Guide to Eating Out
2007-11-14 05:19:00
I wanna talk about one of my favorite subjects, Pussy! Now, I?ve been blatantly bi-sexual for about three years now. During high school, I was only bi-curious, there was girls that I liked looking at but didn?t really take it further than that. Then a few months out of school, I ended up going all the way with one of my friends, the end result being a broken vibrator and two highly satisfied ladies. That night, I progressed from being timidly bi-curious to completely full blown snatch loving bi-sexual.When I started stripping, suddenly there was a plethora of pussy to play with. I was in heaven. However, it took about another year of experimenting before I really figured out what I was doing. Looking back, I was way too liberal with a few chicks which I really shouldn?t have been, my bad. Hey, you live and learn, right? Anyway, over the past couple of years, I?ve developed a kind of hierarchy when it comes to categorizing both my desires and accomplishments of diving on some gal?s m...
Eating Out Tonight? Avoid These Foods.
2007-11-09 13:28:00
It's the weekend.  Not many feel like shopping and then preparing dinner, opting for a quick bite out instead.  Watch what you're putting into your mouth, it could end up on your waist!  David Zinczenko, author of The Abs Diet Ultimate Nutrition Handbook includes an entire chapter titled, "The 20 Worst Foods Ever!"  Eat these and Weep.1. Fettucine Alfredo--worth up to 1,000 calories and 90 grams of fat.  Order instead, whole-grain pasta with marinara.2. Hardee's Monster Thickburger--sounds great guys, but can you afford almost 1,500 calories and 107 grams of fat?3. Creme-Filled Doughnut With Chocolate Icing--my husband used to eat two of these every morning before work, each weighs in at 250 calories, 9 grams of fat--saturated and trans.4. Cinnabon Classic--800 calories and 32 grams of fat; if you just can't pass it up, do like David and split it four ways.5. Deep-Fried Twinkies or Oreos--I've never even eaten these!  Avoid deep...

Eating Out Under The Rain
2007-11-02 00:01:00
Back in my hometown, I am at a compound where my Filipina boss lives. It is a surprise that she already owns three different houses, each beautiful in its own. I used to be under her supervision while working for a Korean school in the city but that was three years ago. Am I back in the school where I once worked? Maybe, in my dream. (LOL) She gives me a very warm accommodation as she lets me enjoy a night rest in one of the houses. She hands me over the key to the house. The next day, her daughter comes telling me we are eating out. It's her mom's treat. I take a shower, look at myself in the mirror, put the house in order, and I leave. Arriving at the gate of the compound, I remember I just left the key inside the house. I tell my boss' daughter who's now inside a pajero car how sorry I am for being forgetful. I must be in a hurry on my way out and I just tell her to get it herself knowing that she and her boyfriend are headed for the same place anyway to get something. As I ex...

Eating out at the "Mo's"
2007-08-29 00:39:00
I fibbed a bit; yesterday's post won't be my last for the week because I almost forgot that I wanted to mention my recent restaurant meals.Thursday night I saw a Dave Matthews Band show, and my BF and I stopped at Montana's for dinner before the show. We had eaten there once before; I had a pasta dish which was pretty good but sun-dried tomatoes were part of the dish's name, and I remember there being very little of them on my plate. I wasn't too impressed. This time, I ordered the vegetarian fajitas. I love vegetable fajitas. And surprisingly, Montana's did not disappoint. I wish I had my camera with me because the presentation of their fajitas is really nice. Even my BF said "Wanna switch?" before he dug into his salmon. The grilled veggies consisted of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, bell peppers, onions and celery. I got four flour tortillas and sides of toppings: salsa, shredded cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce and rice. The amount of sour cream they give you is unre...
