Who Should Have An Echocardiography
2008-01-07 11:39:00
An Echocardiography is actually the Ultrasound of the Heart, this ultrasound produces sound waves and one can have moving picture of the heart. This procedure does not involve any radiations and it gives more detail than a X-ray. It is a good diagnostic tool for Valvular heart diseases, evaluating pumping function of the heart, i.e ejection fraction in heart attack patients. It is also a good screening test for certain heart diseases. However, to diagnose some cardiac diseases, one should have an echocardiography test. The following diseased patients must have an echocardiography. These are the situations in which an echo may influence the clinical management of a patient.Assessment of valve function, e.g systolic or diastolic murmursAssessment of left ventricular function, systolic diastolic and regional wall motions, e.g heart failure in a patient with breathlessness, or preoperative assessment.EndocarditisMyocardi-tisCardiac TemponadePericardial Disease (e.g Pericarditis) or perica...
Echocardiography, Sixth Edition
2007-09-15 05:04:00
Echocardiography, Sixth Edition by Harvey Feigenbaum, William F. Armstrong and Thomas Ryan is a complete overhaul as described by Feigenbaum. He admits that he is not the sole author but Armstrong and Ryan are the primarys on this edition. The thoroughly revised Sixth Edition of Feigenbaum's Echocardiography reflects recent changes in the technology and clinical use of echocardiography. Included are detailed discussions of tissue Doppler imaging, harmonic imaging and its impact on tissue and contrast visualization, new applications of myocardial perfusion and three-dimensional echocardiography.Emphasizing the clinical importance of various echocardiography applications, this edition has chapters on systolic and diastolic left ventricular function, infective endocarditis, prosthetic valves, contrast echocardiography, stress echocardiography, systemic diseases, and operative and perioperative echocardiography. More than 1,200 illustrations complement the text.An accompanying DVD-ROM ...
Textbook of Clinical Echocardiography

Textbook of Clinical Echocardiography by Catherine Otto is a must for everyone learning echo for the first time, or re-learning the essential concepts. Dr. Otto's writing style engages the reader and makes difficult concepts easy to understand. New to this edition is a discussion of new echo techniques including contrast and 3D and how they fit into the echo practice. All echo images are new to this edition and are complemented by new full colour drawings of heart structures and physical orientation. Each chapter includes a practical outline called The Echo Exam, ideal for understanding the use of echo and how to understand the outcomes.Book DetailsHardcover: 528 pages Publisher: Saunders; 3 edition (July 16, 2004) Language: English ISBN-10: 0721607896 ISBN-13: 978-0721607894 Book Dimensions: 10.4 x 7.4 x 1.1 inches List Price: $153.00 Amazon.com Price: $126.91 You Save: $26.09 (17%)
