Traffic at EDSA
2008-04-22 10:59:00 Traffic along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, EDSA for you, is getting worse. I just can't figure out why? Why? The pace of driving has slowed to a crawl. It is so tiring and irritating to drive any segment of the 42 kilometer highway.Some weeks ago, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has implemented strict compliance of public bus transportation companies regarding their route lines. Colorum (illegal) lines were apprehended and a lot of buses were taken off EDSA. Traffic actually became lighter.The average travel speed at EDSA improved from 22 kph up to 65 kph which,according to MMDA report, resulted to more road accidents that lead to even greater congestion. The MMDA also said that the unbearably hot-humid-summer causes a lot of cars to overheat leading to stalled vehicles along the length of EDSA therefore causing unmitigated traffic.Ummm.. can I therefore safely conclude that traffic at EDSA is caused by the banning of colorum buses and the unbelievable...

2007-09-28 09:10:00 It is 70 km away from Pune Bedsa caves are one of the most old in Maharashtra. These are 15 kms to the South of Kamshet railway station. The Trio kept incomplete by Karla and Bhaja is completed by Bedsa. There is a village named Bedsa near the caves. These are at the south of Raut wadi. Though a very good place to visit is not very often crowded. The beauty of these caves is best viewed in the mornings. These caves are 1000 years old. There is a strange story told by villagers about these caves that - The details about the caves and the entire history of the caves was painted and carved on the walls of the cave. But it so happened that a Senior British Officer was to visit the caves, hence a local officer painted the entire caves and the details were lost behind the paint. The truth of this story is not yet known but still it is an interesting story to listen.

Edsall's Tired Old Tirade
2006-12-02 15:04:08 According to Thomas Edsall in today's Times op ed, the only way "the Democratic Party can secure its 2006 gains" is by "abandoning a decades-long willingness to indulge pressure groups on the left." Edsall parrots an old, hackneyed argument most often propagated by those on right. It is a view many in the Democratic leadership have come to erroneously believe. I couldn't disagree more. I would challenge Mr. Edsall to go see Emilio Estevez's "Bobby" this weekend. Perhaps it will help him recall what once made the Democratic party so appealing to so many -- and why many who once embraced the Democratic message of peace and hope and social reform now lack passion for the current 'Republican-lite' Democratic flock.
