2008-06-06 11:31:00 Bertrand Duchaufour might be my second favorite (living) perfumer at the moment (you regular readers know that Jean-Claude Ellena is still at the top of the list), so Magnolia Romana by Eau d'Italie was one of my "most looked forward to" fragrances this year. I was a little worried about the "summer ozone" and "water" notes (other notes include purple basil, lemon leaves, neroli, nutmeg, cypress, magnolia, Bulgarian rose, tuberose, lotus, cedar, hay extract and white musk), and I was right to be: I don't like synthetic "fresh" notes, and while Magnolia Romana isn't overwhelmingly "fresh", it's just fresh enough to bother me. Despite the fascinating list of notes, it reads as very nearly bland on my skin ? I'd call it a musky skin scent with sheer florals and earthy undertones, and while Bertrand Duchaufour has a way with earthy undertones, to my mind, his talents are shown to better advantage in L'Artisan Timbuktu or Eau d'Italie Paestum Rose. I had to attach an extra bit of hose onto the end , for it to reach the water butt, using the connector that is all ready attached.You don't have to wear wellies or stand in the bath to do it , but I like to wear my wellies whenever I can.After I gave the pump a few squeezes gravity took over and the water began to flow. After about five minutes the bath was empty and the water butt was half full. 2006-09-18 22:31:00 The cheerleaders team of Kellie and Jamie (actually, they're former cheerleaders now but lets not quibble) tended toward the middle of the pack in this first stage of the Race. The pair quickly struck up a friendship with also friendly couple gay couple Tom & Terry. Their belief in their own sense of balance led the team to choose the Leisure Detour, a task that lost the pair some time. As expected, athleticism was a strength allowing the ex-cheerleaders to make up placements at the end. Intelligence was not a particular strength (confusing Buddhism with Islam, come on!) just yet as not recognizing the correct car rental return cost them the first flight to China. To her credit though, Kellie joked the tension away at Seattle airport when Bilal wouldn't shake her hand. No problems here with team cohesion for one of the more light-hearted teams.
