2007-11-27 18:48:00 After more than 10 years on the air, Emeril Live has been cancelled. The Essence of Emeril will stay on, but it doesn't look like there are any new Emeril series at the moment. Apparently, his audience is skewing older and is not as attractive to advertisers.Frankly, I think the Food Network needs Emeril more than he needs them. He has a vast empire of, firstly, 10 restaurants - let's not forget that HE, unlike many newer FN hosts, is a CHEF. Secondly, he has written a dozen cookbooks, many of them fabulously successful. Thirdly, he's licensed his name on products from cookware, knives and tableware to teeshirts and clogs. AND there's his foundation, which is doing wonderful work with various children's charities. 2007-11-27 09:08:00 Emeril Lagasse is out at the Food Network. Contract negotiations between Emeril and parent corporation Scripps have broken down. Lagasse is leaving the Food Network as a result and the last day of production for Emeril Live will be on December 11. Reruns of both Emeril Live will continue to appear on the channel and Lagasse will "continue to be a part of the Food Network family", according to Carrie Welch of the Food Network. Lagasse's defection follows Mario Batali's exit back in September. Has anyone other than me noticed how much of a dumbass Alton Brown has become? Every time his shows come on I immediately turn to another channel. The best place for his format would be Saturday mornings hosting a childrens cooking show. He should not be in prime time IMHO.

Normally we would stick to galbi but last week we branched out after work for some samgyeopsal. Do you love eating pork? Do you love bacon? If you answered "YES" to both of these questions you will be in food heaven. Last week we went for bbq after work (I have a backlog of things to post about)...one of them was Jessica (remember her with five-time bodybuilding champ, Mr. Seoul?)Samgyeopsal is the bacon cut from the pork belly. When it comes to the table it is basically thick strips of bacon, but not cured. This pork is then grilled up with kimchi (or other vegetables, like garlic and onions) cooking in the juices that run off to the bottom of the pan.
